This city has an incredible unexplainable vibe and authentic feeling attached to it. I still feel extremely connected with the neighbourhoods like Rio , Trion Navarhon, Marina, Ano Poli etc. Such a beautiful and diverse city. What really impressed me, is the undiscovered potential of the city. For me it's like Antalya in Turkey, a city which had like a 200.000 population and grew into a 1.5 million metropolis in just a decade. Patras has everything and more to become such a great metropolitan area for the whole Greece and even South Eastern Europe in general. Step by step the city can reach this point. It has history, great monuments, a bustling nightlife and universities, unique sunsets, very nice old uptown area and castles. I really wish this city will become better and better.
Thank you so much for your nice comment! I hope Patras and other Greek cities will be transforming as the years are passing by, and in recent years there were many developments in Greece in different areas too!
The least lively and most boring Greek city I 've ever seen.. Not sure if it is an especially quite evening, but where are the people? Such a life-less and grey city centre... I 've never seen anytting like that anywhere in Greece. It seems that the economic crisis has hit Patras very hard. It used to be one of the most cosmopolitan and energetic cities in the country.
I have never been to Greece before the crisis. First time I visited the country in the end of 2017 and I immediately felt in love from the first sight. I also saw the increasing numbers of the tourists coming to the country after 2017 and it was really booming, Patras near the port area after 21.00 when people go outside looked amazing! To me, Greece has the energy that my hometown of Amsterdam doesn't have - so overcrowded by tourists, youngsters of 20-25 years old, coming partying drinking and clubbing. I think to Greece people come with other purposes.
