Listening to a fuel car for me is like someone who listens to classical music to relax. Fuel cars are the sweetest music and I could listen to it on a loop. Yes, I have problems.
Every fuel team should get an extra 10 points for each throttle wack they give the fans on a warm up, the only stipulation is they can't change the clutch pack after the warm up. Give the fans what they want and they will fill the pits and stands again like its 1978.
Ha! The teams don't need to do it.....There's no real mechanical reason to do it, other than for the fans. And I hope it never goes away. Awesome video!
And THAT ladies and gentlemen is EXACTLY why we LOVE drag racing and the pits. I think that might very well be the best warmup video I've ever seen. It has EVERYTHING. Thank you guys
I was standing to close to a funny car once and when it fired up the nitrous hit me in the face and laid me out for over an hour. My friends propped me up by the gate and picked me up on their way out. LOL.
So wicked sounding. LOVE it. For whatever reason, that stuff DESTROYS my eyeballs like ULTRA bad!! Crazy how some of the guys can just stand right next to it without anything on their face. Probably rolls like 70-80 mph just idling... I'd be curious actually. Might have to go crunch some numbers and find out now... lol
That is not oil smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes, it is unburned nitromethane. A characteristic of nitro is that the more the load on the engine, the more nitro can be injected into the engine and burned. For this reason, the crew chiefs will calibrate the fuel flow for full-load conditions. The reverse is, the lighter the load, the less nitro will be burned. As the calibration is for full 100% load, there's a lot of fuel going out the exhaust when they're just testing the engine after a rebuild.

before they switch to nitro are these engines started with gas or alcohol ??
