A FOMO thing, but one the industry promotes heavily. 3. Desperate people looking to score big without too much effort. For whatever reason they only have time to buy something and then hope it appreciates immediately. Peer pressure and hard times are big contributors to gambling on such speculative merchanise.

NFL is always fun to collect, especially if you have a team. But, it's funny, you could find NFL Optic/Prizm retail products pre-freakout (COVID), in abundance
Prizm will be a market mostly for the newbies and a very select few others. Having collected for about 4 decades, I couldn't care less about the entirety of the sandwich companies decade in the NFL market. They've destroyed it, completely. Superfractors and gold refractors, all day. On card Brady autos and Mahomes are all that will even matter from their decade of shiny that all look the same.
Preface by saying I love superfractors, especially from topps finest ( best topps football set), so many great parallels like the mosaic /10 they had for a couple years before panini stole it and put black on it haha. Black finites are great, love the look , especially in the early years of prizm, personally from 2012-2015 I love em all, 17 and 18 are nice too. Black finites and true golds /10 are what I think will likely retain or increase in value, obviously depending on the caliber player. If your really into collecting, you still probably want to be looking for icons and hof players or just solid players from your team that you like. Focusing on specific years based on the design is key as well, and obviously grade, especially for golds.
Theres like 100 1/1s of different variations of a play... Only and ONLY if ur rich and u collect that certain player justifies play those crazy prices...
Iconic is Contenders Ticket RC because of Brady RC. Also nothing was as exciting as in 2017 for National Treasures even when then Maholmes weren't sought after then instead Watson and Trubisky were.

You claim to know what you are doing but you say you PREFER the football market which is by far the most unhealthy market out of the big 3 markets. How many current NFL players cards are up more than 25% over the entire season? Less than 10 and most of the QBs (some have had great seasons) are down or barely breaking even
Those things don't matter to him much since doesn't hold cards for long. He buys, grades and sells within windows. Football has far less games than other sports so it has predictable hype cylce.

Good point. Contenders Ticket Rookie Cards are a safe bet. They’re Iconic and a unique concept. The black pulsar is my fav version, hands down.

How many are up 10% in 2 seasons? Because every rookie QB fades and goes down in their second season.
