    Thanks for your install vid. Looks fairly straight forward so I'll order the centre stand.

      TheTb4x thanks for the feedback, first use for me of the tool, previously used ‘skin scraping’ flat headed screwdriver 😂 It did work well, and was only £3.61 inc delivery!

    Surely it would have been easier to fit the spring with the centre stand in the raised position, where the spring is under less tension, or am I missing something on that type of stand?

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be right there Dave 😂 If I remember right I think access was better down than up as it’s all a bit tight down there...but then again I maybe just didn’t see the obvious 😂 👍🏻

  • @maydaverave

    The spring retracts pulling the center stand up. So wouldn't it be alot easier to install spring in the retracted position when it has least amount of tension?

    Got my SW Motech stand delivered today for my 2021, 1st thing i noticed is that the duckhead shaped lobes in my stand are identical each side....
    Fitted it to the bike, had lots of free play in the bolt and return spring aligned to a different mechanism, had an adjustable metal loop screwed to the stand with a small allen bolt, which aligned at a funky angle.....does this sound familiar re your 1st ordered stand?

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kylethyne2317 it does.. there was a bit of confusion over pre and post 2019 models and mine was incorrect so they swopped it over to correct version and that just fitted like a glove!

    Did you find the bike would come off the stand too easily? I've just fitted mine and it seem like the smallest nudge or slightest downhill will cause the bike to be come out of the stand

      To be honest James, I didn’t have it on long enough…went for test ride and just didn’t like the SW engine guard so got back, ordered a RR guard and took everything off fairly quickly (Can’t have centre stand with RR guard) Unfortunately can’t say I noticed 👍🏻

    Hello, were you able to order that directly from SW Motech ? having trouble sourcing one here in Canada, I guess I can try direct from them, Like you said quality is top notch, I installed the crash bars from them very nice. thanks.

      Hi Wayne, I had planned to bring my bike to Canada with Air Canada as they did great deals flying your bike with you on same flight, but Covid stopped all that! Hopefully I’ll get chance to try again in couple of years 👍🏻 I get my SW gear from the main UK importer and they have always been very efficient and responsive..not sure if they export but this is there website if that helps:

      Hi Antonis, yes it has a stop under the left side of bike. Good quality stand but have taken off to fit a Rally Raid sump guard and couldn’t have both.

    I like your video. It was very nicely presented. How does the SW Motech center stand compare to the OEM center start? SW Motech is slightly priced higher then the OEM. What makes it a better or more efficient stand then the OEM? Please share your thoughts. It will help me to decide on which one to purchase for my 2020 cb500x. Thank you.

      @thecampingbiker791  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jatin... they look very similar, however I’ve never fitted a Honda one and usually fit SW Motech centre stands to all my bikes as I’ve always had good experience and confidence with them. To be honest I don’t think you can go wrong whichever you choose, sorry if that’s only partially helpful. Mine has now been removed but only because I wanted to fit a Rally Raid engine guard to go off road and it uses the same fitting point as the centre stand 👍🏻

    Hey up CB, I’m very fond of these bikes, I don’t own one myself, but I’ve done about 5000km on one travelling and touring the beautiful Kingdom of Thailand and found the bike a pleasure to ride both on and off road.
    So much so, I’m considering replacing one of my bike for a CB500X. In fact, I was in a Dealers in Chester only yesterday and enquiring about a test ride, as I’ve rode the previous model to yours around Thailand and I’m interested in ‘feeling’ for any differences between the Old and the New versions?
    Regards,
    Dazza. 🇬🇧

    Hi, fit spring with stand not down, dont push shaft all way through before attaching springs, then whack shaft through. That seems easiest when done before.why oh why they dont include them god only knows. Well done for perseverence

    I want to fit a central stand to my bike but what is stopping me is that I am thinking to add RallyRide skid plate and they use central stand holder for that. It’s not easy decision 😀😀😀

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I fitted the SW Motech centre stand and engine guard one day and took them off the next!! I was driven by the desire for a centre stand then realised I should have fitted the RR engine guard as it was much heavier duty and so pleased I swapped over to it quickly...I’ve managed without the centre stand well enough and just just see it as a minor inconvenience 😆 👍🏻

    • @MotoPavilion
      @MotoPavilion 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thecampingbiker791 yeah, I watched your videos about that but I’m still on the fence what should I do. The only thing that keeps me with the central stand idea is if I have a flat somewhere on the road. Having a central stand is going to help me a lot fixing that flat. But on the other hand RR skid plate is really sturdy and can protect the bike. As I said this is not an easy decision😀😀😀

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MotoPavilion I had the same thoughts and if I wasn’t going to go on rough trails, just staying on gravel tracks, I’d have probably left the SW Motech sump guard and centre stand on. I use a tyre plugger for typical ‘screw in the tyre’ fixes and indeed the existing back tyre was plugged at about 1.2k miles and now has 7.5k on and is only just ready for a change 😂 I’m also putting a repair travel pack together which will have some of those very sticky rubber inserts which could be used in an emergency for a gash or sidewall repair by stuffing as many in as needed to limp to repair shop. I’m about to experiment with making a lightweight ‘Stick Lift’ to slightly raise a wheel at the roadside....you can buy a lightweight one in the US but it’s not available here in UK! Love taking the time to prepare the bike and at least something to do as we’re in almost a full lockdown and probably going into a proper full lockdown soon 👍🏻

    I bought the exact same centre stand. SW Motech advertise this as fitting the 2018 year model. It does not fit my CB500X, 2018 model year bike that was registered in January 2019. They should change their sales literature. Having to send it back now so not best pleased.
