you dont follow the NHL, do you?
It is widely known that this was the last in-person draft. They (the NHL) is planning on going to remote/de-centralized draft next year.
Thats why they did it at the sphere - to go out with a bang.

Habs fans so happy about their #1 pick because it was a choice they liked. Loved it myself and I get it but this trend of fans getting angry over a pick they have researched on TH-cam and therefore are experts on it is getting old. Think about Sam Pollock drafting Bob Gainey in this day and age. There would be meltdowns until he resigned. Let the management team do their work, they know a little more about 18 year-old prospects than most people online.

Wait wait wait, so Chicago wanted to to trade for Columbus's 4th pick so they could pick Demidov and were willing to trade an unprotected first rounder and other stuff I assume for it. Yet they pick artyom levshunov. If they were really willing to trade an unprotected first rounder, then they should of picked Demidov, then did a trade with either Montreal or someone like Utah to pick a high value defenseman if Levshunov wasn't there anymore. In either case Chicago out big brained themselves there.
They should of picked Demidov and just rolled with whatever would of come up next.

There is disconnection between fans and money paid to these athletes. In nba players opting out of 50 mil dollar contracts to get more money is insane. When most of the society has a hard time making it from month to month. I predict that all of this will eventually come crashing down because of greed. I know many hockey fans who used to go to games. Now we can't afford it or just don't want to pay up crazy ticket prices. Going to a sporting event used to be accessible for most folks, now it's an event for some.

I'm curious about the comment about Forida being a no tax state. Does that mean, if (and I'll use Stamkos as an example) Stamkos annual salary is 8 million a year he gets all 8 versus say someplace like say Vancouver where he's likely to lose 50% to the taxman?

'32 Thoughts' was a perfect example of this, and with Jeff Marek no longer with Sportsnet, now, the reality is that this podcast has now becoming far less appealing to listen to, frankly speaking.
