Mr Kat Just because it works for multiple games doesn't mean it isn't a microtransaction. You still have to pay extra to use a feature or unlock a costume that's already coded in a full priced AAA game.
Would like to see a finale standalone game for the Skylanders series. No new character releases, no microtransactions, just an expansive game taken back to it's roots but considers all of the characters
@@strange101 No they probably mean like a game where certain levels you use the swap force characters or the giants And they are connected to the story With maybe they characters sold being new varations of old ones
Me too it was the last gift my parents got me before they divorced when I was 8 and I played that game to death. Every time I got $10 I knew exactly where it was going and bringing my figures to friends houses and using there was so fun. A ton of people talk smack about the figures I have displayed in my room but it brings back so many good memories when I see them and I’m proud to say that they’re mine
yeah, there is a lot of demand for them, luckily for me not in my country and i can peacefully order my amiibo. also i dont use them all bc i dont play all the games i bought them for (3 botw amiibo that are waiting for smash) and they look cool on shelf. and some people buy them just for how they look
Seribro Sorrens yeah. The guy mentioned them ONCE and completely disregarded them for the rest of the video. Maybe to get his point across in hopes that we wouldn’t remember.
Renzo R yeah i did it 2 years ago and i still regret so much to This day because the country i live in dont sell them anymore but luckily before they removed them all i bought spyro’s adventure and some charecters like 1 and a half years ago because i missed it so much.
He didn't even cover how Imaginators made the previous skylanders figures pointless. The Devs literally depowered all skylanders from previous versions. So that really badass character you've had from the first game that you've been playing all that time is now absolutely worthless because he's now having a hard time against some of the weakest enemies in this game.
I tried doing a Blackout run in easy mode once, and I gotta say, even on the simplest mode it was a mostly a challenge. (I'm going to try again in normal mode one day, but still.) It really does suck that previous Skylanders were pretty much nuked.
A few weeks ago, at a dying Toys R Us, I saw a full shelf of Supercharged Figures and Vehicles for only $1 each. Almost everything in the store was gone, but that shelf was packed.
It's so weird to see Skylanders being described like one of those old nostalgic games. I was super into this series in middle school and feels like just yesterday I was planning tournaments with my friends and arguing about which characters should be off-limits due to their OP moveset. (Drobot and Double Trouble...) I'm pretty sure I got close to a 100% clear file on the first game, just because I played it so much and explored every nook and cranny of the levels. Also my brother and I collectively had 90% of the characters from the first series. Wasn't able to get the rest because they were never in stock and buying online seemed like way too much trouble for a 10 year old. I don't even want to think about how much money that was, since those things sold for $10-$15 per figure in the hayday. The second game was my favorite due to the PVP mode, but since I was distracted by that I kinda neglected the levels beyond the main story. I remember getting the 3rd game but never ended up finishing it because around that time I lost interest in gaming for a while. My sisters were playing one of the games a few weeks ago, and I went down and joined them. It was really nice returning to these characters again, and it's sad to see that the entire genre is essentially dead. Also, being a part of the Original Skylanders Generation meant that it was legally required to hate all of the other toys to life franchises that popped up after the first game's success. I remember bashing on Infinity (And amiibo, initially) because to me they were just greedy skylanders ripoffs. Then the 3rd game came out and I realized Skylanders itself had always been a giant cash grab. Not sure how I would have felt about the lego TTL game, since that was announced long after I had moved on from skylanders. It could have gone either way, since I was also obsessed with legos as a kid.
The Lego game was awesome, unfortunately my PS3 crapped out on me so I'm having to sell my unopened collection for space and cash. Imaginators is when I picked it up again and its the best one because you hey to create your own character. I doubt thai skylanders will come back, unless Starlink does well, than Skylanders will create competition. Hopefully they balance the class systems and lists better.
But if we dont survive then Amiibo will not be used.. well if aliens find it.. then Amiibo will be a bit unpopular and *oof* or Aliens will find it bad and.... sorry...
To be honest, unless they manage to pull off something really creative and fun with Amiibo, I have a feeling they will die off too... Though to be fair, a lot of modern amiibo are really high quality, just look at the mario Odyssey line.
Man, Skylanders vas really my childhood. I remember when I Always wantet to go to my friend to play spyro adventure. I problably replayed that game 10 times. But Giants was 10x better than the first. That was my first own skylanders game. I grinded like 5 hours a day. When swap force came out I bought it immediately . But when I played it i hated it. I iterally played it for 2 hours because it was so bad. When trap team came i bought it and loved it. I loved that you could capture your favourite villans. Then i stopped playing the games. That was maybe good because if I played them i would got an bad memory. Thanks Skylanders for makeing my childhood the best!
I loved Skylanders. I'm not an adult right now but back then I played the hell out of it, when you place it, it was so satisfying.. I wish I never sold it because I miss it so much..
The best thing Activision could do to bring back skylanders would be to make a remaster of the first game, same map, same levels, same idea, but where you can still use the characters from the earlier games. That would be like my childhood brought back in HD
Jako yeah a remaster of the first or second game on ps4(maybe 5?),xbox one, pc, nintendo switch, that would be cool. It’d also be cool with like a smash bros like combat system where you can use all skylanders from every game.
You damn well know they'd shove something lootbox-related in there to fuck it up. If you love Skylanders, just let it's corpse rot in peace: I'd rather it not become like that Crash game.
Die guy die altijd LOL zegt that would make skylanders be called a game similar to smash bros with a smash bros like combat system but dont mind me I lack the iq of skylanders so ima see myself out
There's also another thing that crippled skylanders sequels, the removal of special mechanics from previous games. Think about it, swap force took away everything that made the giants special, and trap team did the same to the swap force
You should have ended with at least declaring Nintendo and Amiibo the survivors. While amiibo have certainly had they cash grabby moments, over all I've been very happy with its "lighter touch" approach. Not requiring use (usually), but being a bonus. And expanded use throughout soooo many games has made they prized collectibles I still break out to use to this day! Amiibo just hit that sweet spot!
erikholmysti Amiibo isn’t really a contender to the “toy to life” gimmick, they’re more extra toys and collectibles for the hardcore fans, it doesn’t work like Skylanders, Disney Infinity and even LEGO Dimensions it isn’t really apart of the “toy to life” games.
I enjoyed skylanders as a kid for two reasons. I was oblivious to the way they were using Spyro to pose it as a new Spyro game. And I jumped out of the series after playing Swap Force. I saw the writing on the wall I guess.
Same! Skylanders swap force was my last game of skylanders. I grew up with giants and swap force. It was my first game ever. Memories. Also giants was my first game. Not swap.
I stopped playing at Trap Force. I remember trying so hard to collect a swap member of every element and bottom piece. But collecting every trap and a trap master of every element was too much for me.
I'd chalk it up mostly to the fact that they're optional for basically all the content in the game, making buying them not feel like a huge cop out like Skylanders, etc. etc., where you had to have a figure to play any of the game, and also many obvious parts of the game being locked behind needing more toys. Even Smash, the one with the most locked behind the amiibo paywall, just has new content to the game behind said amiibos, still giving you a full game without them.
Because they are figures of popular nintendo characters. Skylanders are glorified pokemon/digimon clones, and gamers don't really care about disnep characters.
Skylanders was my gateway to games. Trap Team was one of my first games I ever played. I owned every game other than Spyro’s adventure. It’s sad that it ended
nightmarionne, there was a lack a content and Activision decided to milk the franchise with loot boxes and microtransactions before the franchise died.
ImPurple that's why I thought it was mediocre. I think it's haydays were from games 1 to 4. 5 was absolute shit, and I did lime the idea of making your own skylanders, but the lootboxes and microtransactions ruined the fun
To all of the people who keep bringing up AMIIBOS, I actually addressed that in an addendum I did last year, seen here th-cam.com/video/XquGcShZ_SM/w-d-xo.htmlm32s Also, apparently Skylanders is coming back with "Ring of Heroes", which is ...a mobile F2P game with no T2L component. So yeah basically dead.
Kohdok thanks for doing an episode on this genre. Skylanders was one of my favorite games of all time when I was younger and I also loved Disney infinity 3.0. I was sad when I heard that the genre wasn't continuing but it's understandable.
How is that any different from having Batman, Spyro, Mr. Incredible, Donkey Kong, Gandalf, Crash Bandicoot, Mickey Mouse, Scooby Doo, or Iron man? I mean, it's neat, but it's also nothing special.
Kohdok did you not watch E3 starlink battle for Atlas is coming out and it's basically a toy to life thing I'm looking forward to getting on the switch so I can play is Fox McCloud in the legendary Arwing
Disney Infinity was okay, but it lacked one feature the other two major Toys to Life franchises had - the ability to use any character anywhere. Each toy was restricted to a contextual universe, so it really wasn't as Infinite as it suggested. And Lego Dimensions was actually pretty good; granted it was more expensive, but there was an option where, if you lacked a certain character, you could use in game currencies to bypass their challenges. Not a bad idea if you think about it. It just didn't have much going for it outside the standard story mode.
We all now R.O.B is in ultimate. After all, they announced LITERALLY (Yes I'm using the right term here) Every smash character that was in smash would be in ultimate.
I have to admit: I’m not a huge fan of sky landers, but when I brought the first 2, I felt like I got my money’s worth. It was cheap putting Spyro in there, but that makes giants my favourite of the two, since it wasn’t focused around Spyro, and instead, was just a good skylanders game. Then I skipped swap force due to the fact that I didn’t feel that interested in it, and I did the same with trap team. I then decided to pick up super chargers. I was actually quite disappointed. I managed to complete the game in a measly 5 hours, and the final boss didn’t even feel hard. The level design was more blended in, rather than the better stick out of the first 2. After that, I don’t play skylanders anymore. I couldn’t care less about lego dimensions, but the thing I cherish still to this day since launch... are amiibos. They look nice, they’re well crafted and the in game functions aren’t required to beat a game, they’re just little bonus features! The only problem I have is that there aren’t enough in stock, and I guess that’s good for Nintendo, because that means people want more. I wish they remade the original skylanders in collaboration with Nintendo, or did an entirely different game with that (yes they did the DK and bowser skylanders, but they were just kinda boring) I just hope we can see another GOOD skylanders game. Also just to note: I found superchargers for £3 the other day. That’s just kinda sad Edit: I did pick up Disney infinity 2.0, and I got bored after like an hour. I wasted my money on that, and apparently, so did others
Vsauce Puppet Wow, that’s a perfect description of it. I had fun with the first two, with Giants being my favorite, but the companies just became desperate starting with swap force. It would have been better if they made better, more polished games without a different company working on Skylanders to make yearly games. Making too many different Skylanders was also a mistake. 32 was good for the first one because it was just starting out, and Giants had it good with only one Giant and normal skylander per element, but then there just came way too many skylanders for the later games, which made them easily forgettable and waste more money/ give Skylanders a greedier reputation.
Yeah I have to agree. If only maybe they had different optional extra levels for different skylanders That didn’t put things behind a paywall, but they were just for fun and maybe extra gold if you had the skylander. I would have loved to have also seen some sort of throwback to the original hubworld with new levels, and a few different places! A Spyro adventures remake, or a giants remake would be a dream come true!
The first was so memorable. I still remember going home to my friends house almost everyday after school and spending maybe 2 hours on the kaos battle because we had so few characters. While it was annoying, it gave us a sense of accomplishment when we finally beat it.
Anyone remember that skylanders online game? When you bought one of the older, original figures, you got a little black card with a code on it. If you entered that code on the site you would be put in a animal-jam like online game where you could use that figure as an avatar and chat with others, who were often different skylanders. I loved that game- a shame they shut it down.
How dare thee acuse Activision of such crimes? They pay me thousands to give them a good score on metacritic. Just Joking, but you probably already figured that out.
I dropped out of the Series after SF. I only had a Wii and they were starting to drop support for the console in favor of the Wii U. At that point, when I got SF, I knew it wasn't as good as the first two, and after SA and Giants, it was getting expensive. After that, I only watched playthroughs until the last game, which I almost completely ignored, save for videos like, "how to make this pokemon in-game." However, I did watch the Netflix cartoon as a guilty pleasure with my sister, who had taken a liking to the series while watching me play. It wasnt half-bad tbh, but it was a shame it practically died out before they could finish the show's storyline. Either way, seeing this video gave me a wave of nostalgia
As someone who now has a full collection of Lego Dimensions, I'm fairly disappointed that they burnt out after only 2 years. The way they implemented an "ever expanding game" rather than a Lego Dimensions 2 the following year was a very good move for the franchise. Being able to buy only one starter pack that would fuel and expand you game for the years to come was something that Disney Infinity and Skylanders never learned. Being run by Warner Bros. showed how easily they were able to acquire and show off their franchises that were featured. Unfortunately it seemed that Lego Dimensions' sales dropped down about halfway into Year 1, leading into a very low sales run through the entirety of Year 2. I really thought that Dimensions was a great game and that the packs were all well worth their values. With Lego being some of the most collectible toys ever, and with Dimensions featuring several exclusive Lego minifigures and pieces, you would imagine it would perform very well on paper. Overall, I believe that out of all the Toys to Life games, Dimensions certainly gave you the most content with every pack, including the Starter Pack. Spanning 17 levels and 3 open world areas with several collectibles you can earn with only the contents of the starter pack, you got well-worth what you spent on it and then some to spare. Every character you bought that was from a franchise you didn't already own a character from gives you another of these open world areas along with all the abilities that they come with, some of which are unique to specific characters and others that multiple characters learned as well, leaving it up to you to decide which abilities and levels you wanted to unlock. To 100% the game, earning all collectibles across all levels and adventure worlds, there is a specific set of packs you can buy that about equals under half of what is available, making it very accessible to get into at the current stage, where most packs are severely cheaper than they were at release. I definitely am going to miss the game, but am also glad I can start spending my money elsewhere. Goodbye, Lego Dimensions. You had a very good run.
I tried all 3 of these games and lego dimension is the one I kept. Even now I'm still playing it and getting new sets for it. Just recently the lego batman movie level set. Man what a blast. X3 I'm allready a huge fan of the lego games, so even with the production being down, I still enjoy the game quiet a lot. Still would have been nice to see the game going and seeing more franchises comming out. Imagie a Bionicle level pack with a bionicle mini figur! XD And I totally agree, it was a clever and great decision to expand on one game instead of making sequels. It really sucked that I could not play the old playsets on DI 3
Would've bought lego dimensions if it wasn't so damn expensive. My family literally bought every major toy to life Skylanders game (except superchargers), Infinity (I loved all of them tbh) and Amiibo (stood out in line just to get rare figs, totally worth it) But Lego Dimensions just didn't feel attractive to me and my family and the price put us off completely
I agree. I understand why they wanted to add in a new gimmick every year but I don't understand why they took away and removed things the fans loved and the game kinda needed in some cases. The first game was perfect. The water function actually worked in that game so characters like Zap weren't useless. PVP mode was fun as well and I also liked training all the characters in those side quests to boost up their stats and make them as powerful as I could make them.
I honestly loved the unique concepts of Swap Force and Trap Team when they first came out, and even still have some figures. I remember back in middle school trying hard to get a Skylander of every element and bottom-piece so I could unlock all unique zones. But then trying to collect all the traps and Trap masters made me realize as much as I enjoyed the game, I was tired of paying so much for the figures.
I still remember my 10th birthday when I got the original sky landers game and played it all weekend with my older brother. I played through giants and bought swap force but it was a terribly boring game and at that point I was more into the PlayStation games. Had a lot of fun with the first two while it lasted though.
Swap Force is by far my favorite and (personally) best Skylander game. It had the best storyline in the series and I didn't really care for the mini-games, but the core level was fun by itself. I played that game through completion at least a dozen times by now. Also, best Skylander to play the tedious Fortress level is Roller Brawl, one of the fastest Skylanders and overall fun close combat playstyle.
Slylanders started very strong, and I fondly remember the first 3 games. However, by the 4th game I just got tired of Activision’s money hungry bullshit and stopped there.
R.I.P Skylanders 2011-2016 Greatly appreciated by both kids and adults (I used to play it with my dad) Many people may also dislike it, but that’s okay. There’s always going to be someone who hates something. It was great while it lasted
I think amiibo are largely more successful due to the fact that not only are they useable in multiple games, but also because they double as displayable figurines for Nintendo characters that rarely ever get any. I have two amiibo, Fox and Falco (as well as Wolf in the future), mainly because I’m a Star Fox fan and figures of that series are absolutely _DRY_ in comparison to the likes of Mario and Zelda. Same reason for why I’m getting Starlink with its Star Fox figures when it releases. _-Also because it looks like a better Star Fox game than what Nintendo has done in years-_
Ejax 58 I remember collecting all of the og skylanders and all the giants. Eventually I stopped once superchargers was launched because I grew out of that phase and realized how expensive it had become
Lmao. I was 9 when I got the first Skylanders game from Toys R Us. Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy and Skylanders just plummeted. I was 12 when I first got Disney Infinity from my favorite store, Hastings. Hastings then filed for bankruptcy and Disney cancelled DI. I was 13 when I got my first Amiibo from Blockbuster. Now there is only 1 Blockbuster left in America and pretty much all the Amiibo are on clearance at Wal-Mart for 5 dollars at the most. I'm now 16 and I'm starting to sense an awful trend.
EPM 101 It might sound like I'm exaggerating, but trust me, I'm not. The only ones you could mainly find are the characters people tend to not care about though.
Oh god.... What's next? Also, why is there only ONE Blockbuster in America now? If so, I want to know where it is since I was too young and never lived in the age of Blockbuster.
Disney infinity was the good battlefront for me and the fact that I could bring marvel and Star Wars together made overjoyed and I can only imagine what they could of made if they kept going it crushed me to realize they canceled the game and cried for like 2 seconds but still it’s the fact that most of my childhood is ruined makes me tear up a bit every now and then. Please bring Disney infinity back I don’t care how maybe make dlc for each character or something please. This game is Garry’s mod for consoles and that is what mattered. If anyone knows a fan project to bring it back or anything like that please let me know this game deserves it. (excuse my grammar)
On steam there’s Disney infinity gold edition for 2.0 and 3.0. The developers kind of update the game but it’s usually things that were already in the original game.
Don't worry, i watched Toy Story as kid, and the thought that my toys may be sentient still haunts me to this day. Even though i know its ridiculous, but my brain doesn't
Funny enough, while Imaginators has microtransactions on Xbox and PlayStation systems, the Nintendo Switch version, which I got at the launch of the system, removed them completely which I saw as an awesome thing.
Spyro’s Adventure: Fanatastic. Part of my childhood, spent hours on it Giants: by far my favorite one. Loved the giants and also played it for hours. Swap Force: Greed, and I thought the swap sky landers weren’t really that cool or interesting. Trap Team: The last game I played, but one I did enjoy. At this point I was pretty much done with skylanders though. Superchargers: Nope. Sorry, this was a mistake. There were no need for vehicles to be that prominent in a skylanders game. This one also made me skip imaginators
I dunno, i liked 3 and 4 the best. Probably because i played them the most. I didn't even finish superchargers, and i believe i stopped playing imaginators after 2 levels.
The Oshawott Man I was legitimately the last player, no joke. I was like, 7, at the time.and the last day before the shutdown of all the servers was depressing. Ah, the memories
And for some reason, Nintendo just said"this is the best game to do a crossover with Bowser and donkey Kong!" It's just like if Nintendo work with Phillips.... Oh wait! They done it. Nintendo had a very low standards.
Toys to Life was just another "Collect them all" gimmick like any other before it, with the angle this time being toys that could interact with video games. Personally, I blame Pokemon Go for killing the genre by replacing it with AR based collect-a-thon games based on the current corporate obsession with mobile phones and micro-transactions. To put it simply, the Toys to Life trend died because another trend replaced it, the aforementioned AR mobile gaming trend with Pokemon Go, combined with over-saturation and an over-reliance on gimmicks, as well as being forced to waste more money in a pay-to-win model that's despised by gamers. Basically, the problems I and many others have with the gaming industry in general, being the over-reliance on making people continuously pay money to continue the game rather than making a playable, innovative game that's fun and original.
This was a great video, u were able to show the height of what these games once were and show the fall that each and every one of them took. These games were my childhood and I wish the developers did better by them. Thank u for making this
Interesting stuff. There's a guy called NexoReviews who made a similar video to this based mostly around the fall of Lego Dimensions though, you'd like it. Also I think the guy from the amiibo d is the guy from Stanger Things.
SKYLANDERS SPYRO'S ADVENTURE IS MY CHILDHOOD!!! I GOT IT WHEN I WAS 7 AND I BOUGHT UP TO EVEY SKYLANDERS GAME UP TO THE LATEST AND I HAD EVERY SINGLE ONE!! BEST GAME EVER!! :'(
Nintendo's Amino Franchise Is Still Going Strong,But I Will Still Remember The Other Franchises Like Skylanders,Disney Infinity & Lego Dimensions For Being Amazing Games Along With Toys Coming To Life...It Was A Popular Trend In Our Current Decade,The 2010's,But Where About To Hit The Future & All Tho That This Trend Declined,It Was Still Be Remembered For Many Generations To Come,I'll Just Had To Look Up On The News & See If Nintendo's Amino Is Still Going All Tho That Toys To Life Is Not Quite Extinct, All Tho That It's Gone,But Not Forgotten!
Listen, not trying to be rude, just trying to help here, names, the I when you’re talking about yourself (such as I am or I’m) and the first word of a sentence are the only words to be capitalized. So for example: Today I am going to McDonalds. Get it? :) people on the internet can be rude so it’s best to learn it
I love all games so much i didn't care about the problems in skylanders i just enjoyed it i was like 6 years old or younger when i played it, and i was so sad a cried for a week when they stoped making new ones ( I still have all the toys )
toa mistika the moc maker!!! Me to i miss the times when everyone loved it and when i watched skylander boy and girl. But then everything changed and everyone jugged you for playing it.
I remember back in 2011 then me and my friend couldn’t beat Kaos In Spyro’s adventure Because we only had 3 figures, And now I beat Him with only one figure without switching 2018 😂 Good Memories😉
In Superchargers Defense, all you needed was two more relatively cheap vehicles to experience the game to it's fullest, and the races were entertaining. I feel like way too many people unnecessarily shit on Superchargers way too often.
Skylanders crashed so hard, that the last time I went to Toys R Us, before it died too, a single Skylander was usually around $2 USD, and they had the Core Skylanders (No twist ones) on a Buy-1-Get-4-Free sale. At that point, even before their bankruptcy, Toys R Us, and probably other retailers were trying to sell as many as possible. Just trying to get rid of them.
I remember being so excited to open up Spyro's Adventure for Christmas back in my 2nd Grade year. I mean, I did beat the game with the starter pack because I grinded the hell out of it from what I remember, but I also remember replaying with different characters I bought. I legit invested in the game with every piece of money that flew into my hands. Man, childhood was something.
Amiibo did it the worst. You can't even play as the character from the amiibo. There was literally no point in buying them. It was only popular because it was Nintendo
Long story so watch out. Me and my grandfather always used to play Skylanders. And we used to play a lot and we had a lot of the characters *cough* talking bout that level 100 I think blue trigger happy *cough* but then we had to move and I wasn't happy and by this time I was 10 and not playing much of the game so I went to the mall with my friend Dylan and my aunt and we shopped for stuff well not much but ya then we dropped Hime off and came back to the house and there were a bunch of people in the driveway, yard, etc and it turns out my mom sold my collection of 60+ Skylanders for 15 dollars and I tried to tell my mom to sell in for more or just let me keep it nope some lady came in with her two brat kids and they straight up argued with my mom for 20+ minutes to lower the price and when I was in my room playing videogames the youngest just came in and must up all my stuff and my mom ended up selling the Skylanders for 10 bucks
Man, that sucks. I have so many memories with some of the Skylanders in my collection, and I would be heartbroken if they ever broke or got sold by accident. I hope you were able to rebuild your collection.
So basically toys to life got ruined because companies went ea on people
amiibo aren't needed to play games they are only used to extend the game or get special items or just collect them
*cough* *cough* Amiibo festival *cough* but really, that's the only game that requires an amiibo.
Who would bother to buy that game anyway
I guess amiibo collectors.
No, they died because Nintendo and their Amiibos 360 degree headshotted them.
Toys to life was literally the physical manifestation of microtransactions
Mr Kat
Just because it works for multiple games doesn't mean it isn't a microtransaction.
You still have to pay extra to use a feature or unlock a costume that's already coded in a full priced AAA game.
This is so true
Well it’s those are toys so they actually worth something
Nah at least with microtransactions no one's killing each other for the special gold mario amiibo
Skeptical Scientist sad but true
Fun fact: The voice actor of chaos is the same actor as Zim. What a coincidence.
It is Kaos K A O S
Honestly they’re literally the same character
It's likely not a coincidence, since zim and koas have very similar personalities
Yes, I know
@@sam4gaming135 lol koas
Giants will probably always be my favorite toys to life game.
Same

It is the best
Would like to see a finale standalone game for the Skylanders series. No new character releases, no microtransactions, just an expansive game taken back to it's roots but considers all of the characters
Yas so like a reboot? I’d like to see one for spyros adventure and giants, they were the best
@@strange101 No they probably mean like a game where certain levels you use the swap force characters or the giants
And they are connected to the story
With maybe they characters sold being new varations of old ones
I have some ideas!
yeah I was thinking a remaster of the 1st 2 games re releasing the characters making rare ones more common
If you want it ask Activision “I guarantee they’ll do it EXACTLY like you want it”
*Litteraly crying because I grew up with Skylanders.*
This Dude same 😂
same
Me too. 😢

It wasn't anything to write home about. The new one was the best until they didn't release one of the senseis so one of the level sets is incomplete.
I grew up with skylanders and it hurt so much to seee it slowly crumble down.
rip sklanders 2011 - 2016
Same it came out when I was 5 and I been playing it since then.. I'm 13 now and I still play it from time to time because of memories..
Ahh the memories, the memories

•spinel• literally the exact same lol
Rip skylanders you will be missed by everyone except our parents wallets
lol
So true lol
And the salty Spyro fans
That’s speaking the truth
Skylanders did not die there are rumors that there is a new skylanders game under development we just have to wait and see
Amiibo will continue to survive due to not being tied to one game, and they are infinitely backwards compatible.
Seribro Sorrens and they're really high quality figurines that people like to display
Owen Apple plus amiibo is a way to get figures of some less used characters like Wii fit trainer Mr GAW ROB and duck hunt
yeah, there is a lot of demand for them, luckily for me not in my country and i can peacefully order my amiibo. also i dont use them all bc i dont play all the games i bought them for (3 botw amiibo that are waiting for smash) and they look cool on shelf. and some people buy them just for how they look

It could have gone either way, since I was also obsessed with legos as a kid.
alisande they are making a new skylanders
The Lego game was awesome, unfortunately my PS3 crapped out on me so I'm having to sell my unopened collection for space and cash. Imaginators is when I picked it up again and its the best one because you hey to create your own character. I doubt thai skylanders will come back, unless Starlink does well, than Skylanders will create competition. Hopefully they balance the class systems and lists better.
@@dvoremay6683
I herd that it's an HD remake of the original game so that one doesn't really count as new.

Jako you mean ALL the games? (Spyro's adventure, giants, swap force, etc.)
Spherix !Previously Goomba Gaming! They would have to, otherwise people who bought the newer ones would’ve felt ripped off
Jako yeah a remaster of the first or second game on ps4(maybe 5?),xbox one, pc, nintendo switch, that would be cool.
Looking content for the game you already paid for through hard to find figurines is shit and not better than microtransactions
I agree but he was probably avoided putting any Nintendo gameplay which would have led to copyright strikes.
Ryan Carson I would say the smash series ones qualify for toys to life.
Ah my fav Nintendo adaptation-ish thing
At the end amibos survived somehow...
Because theyre can be used with any game compatible
Yougurtsupremegogo Jist because Nintendo is the best lol
I'd chalk it up mostly to the fact that they're optional for basically all the content in the game, making buying them not feel like a huge cop out like Skylanders, etc. etc., where you had to have a figure to play any of the game, and also many obvious parts of the game being locked behind needing more toys.
Even Smash, the one with the most locked behind the amiibo paywall, just has new content to the game behind said amiibos, still giving you a full game without them.
Because they are figures of popular nintendo characters. Skylanders are glorified pokemon/digimon clones, and gamers don't really care about disnep characters.
Its ironic that it is the one to of survived considering how little compatibility they really had with games
Skylanders was my gateway to games. Trap Team was one of my first games I ever played. I owned every game other than Spyro’s adventure. It’s sad that it ended
That is my life story too
ditto, except i started w/ swap force and am willing to sell my soul off for one little flocked springtime trigger happy

Also superchargers was garbage
Skylanders isn't officially over yet, they have an RPG mobile game coming out that looks promising
Imaginators was garbage as well
ImPurple imaginators was, okay. Not good but, okay
nightmarionne, there was a lack a content and Activision decided to milk the franchise with loot boxes and microtransactions before the franchise died.
ImPurple that's why I thought it was mediocre. I think it's haydays were from games 1 to 4. 5 was absolute shit, and I did lime the idea of making your own skylanders, but the lootboxes and microtransactions ruined the fun
When they got to Giants, I was flooded with nostalgia.
To all of the people who keep bringing up AMIIBOS, I actually addressed that in an addendum I did last year, seen here th-cam.com/video/XquGcShZ_SM/w-d-xo.htmlm32s
Also, apparently Skylanders is coming back with "Ring of Heroes", which is ...a mobile F2P game with no T2L component. So yeah basically dead.
Kohdok thanks for doing an episode on this genre. Skylanders was one of my favorite games of all time when I was younger and I also loved Disney infinity 3.0. I was sad when I heard that the genre wasn't continuing but it's understandable.
Kohdok starlink battle for Atlas would like to have a word with you they also have Fox McCloud arwing for the switch version
How is that any different from having Batman, Spyro, Mr. Incredible, Donkey Kong, Gandalf, Crash Bandicoot, Mickey Mouse, Scooby Doo, or Iron man? I mean, it's neat, but it's also nothing special.
What about... U.B. Funkeys
Finally. OK youtube I watched it! Can I go home now?

That’s just kinda sad
Edit: I did pick up Disney infinity 2.0, and I got bored after like an hour.

That’s the thing about big companies. It’s always for the money.

TheRoboSensei I COULDNT AGREE MORE!!!
yeah i never had LD but characters that actually do something to the game was such a cool idea
I need 2 figures to finish my collection. Raven and beest boy from ttg
I tried all 3 of these games and lego dimension is the one I kept. Even now I'm still playing it and getting new sets for it. Just recently the lego batman movie level set. Man what a blast. X3
I'm allready a huge fan of the lego games, so even with the production being down, I still enjoy the game quiet a lot.
Still would have been nice to see the game going and seeing more franchises comming out. Imagie a Bionicle level pack with a bionicle mini figur! XD
And I totally agree, it was a clever and great decision to expand on one game instead of making sequels. It really sucked that I could not play the old playsets on DI 3
Would've bought lego dimensions if it wasn't so damn expensive. My family literally bought every major toy to life Skylanders game (except superchargers), Infinity (I loved all of them tbh) and Amiibo (stood out in line just to get rare figs, totally worth it)
But Lego Dimensions just didn't feel attractive to me and my family and the price put us off completely

MetaTeoria agreed I stopped after giants
I also like the first game the most
MetaTeoria I agree complety
I liked every game personally
I honestly loved the unique concepts of Swap Force and Trap Team when they first came out, and even still have some figures. I remember back in middle school trying hard to get a Skylander of every element and bottom-piece so I could unlock all unique zones. But then trying to collect all the traps and Trap masters made me realize as much as I enjoyed the game, I was tired of paying so much for the figures.
I personally agree, although the figures were too expensive I love the concept of the games as well.
I still remember my 10th birthday when I got the original sky landers game and played it all weekend with my older brother. I played through giants and bought swap force but it was a terribly boring game and at that point I was more into the PlayStation games. Had a lot of fun with the first two while it lasted though.
I liked swap force and trap team it was in of my favorite games.
Fairy Princess yes finally someone who agrees! #SwapForceSquad
Slylanders started very strong, and I fondly remember the first 3 games. However, by the 4th game I just got tired of Activision’s money hungry bullshit and stopped there.

_-Also because it looks like a better Star Fox game than what Nintendo has done in years-_
Im so sad and depressed and nostalgic and joyous all at the same time and I feel so, so strange and ripped apart.

TizZA RizZA Buzzy Bøi I don’t know what Wal-Mart you go too, but I’ve never seen Amiibo on clearance.
EPM 101
It might sound like I'm exaggerating, but trust me, I'm not. The only ones you could mainly find are the characters people tend to not care about though.
I see them for like 10-15 dollars but that might be because I live in Canada and there's the currency difference
10 to 15 dollars? I thought amiibos were like $90... what rock have I been living under?
Oh god.... What's next?
Also, why is there only ONE Blockbuster in America now? If so, I want to know where it is since I was too young and never lived in the age of Blockbuster.
R.I.P
Toys to life games
😢 2011-2018 😭
Starlink is coming out and it looks much better.
2008*
AMIBO
NINTONDO LABO
Nintendo still doing Toys to life 😃
Y u crying
Welp
So true
On steam there’s Disney infinity gold edition for 2.0 and 3.0. The developers kind of update the game but it’s usually things that were already in the original game.
That would be a lot of coding, and a lot of 3D printing. But worth it in the end
When I was 6 or 7 I thought skylanders was real 😂 (as in I thought the toys were real creatures) I may or may not be slightly autistic
Don't worry, i watched Toy Story as kid, and the thought that my toys may be sentient still haunts me to this day. Even though i know its ridiculous, but my brain doesn't
terraria quickZkopE Dont say that about yourself, man
Yea I watched Toy Story also, and literally thought whenever I wasn’t around they moved.
@@ThePixieEmerald jimmy neutron boy genius
lol I genuinely thought theyworld was real as well im highly autistic this was wen I was 10
You gotta give it to activision: they got people to buy what where basically USB sticks with Trap team and Imaginators.
Funny enough, while Imaginators has microtransactions on Xbox and PlayStation systems, the Nintendo Switch version, which I got at the launch of the system, removed them completely which I saw as an awesome thing.
Thank God, Nintendo never allowed micro transactions. Except for the free mobile games.
Wait how were they removed?
6:19 the guy in the green...
is that steve from stranger things...
10:16 is THAT MIIA FROM MONSTER MUSUME
I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO WATCHES THAT?!
Oh god, I didn't even realize...
I’m not the only one that watches that
Momonichi The Parasyte Overlord *IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!*
Rachnera best girl
Truly an end of an era.
Is nobody gonna say anything about donkey Kong in skylanders
Out Mage I've forgot about that
Ew don't remind me
Dont forget about bowser being in it aswell
*Breaks down and power pukes*
Oh no, there was Crash as well. Made a whole level about him.
I'm more pissed about that.
Ah, Skylanders. Good 2011 times when I still had a computer that looked like a box.
Spyro’s Adventure: Fanatastic. Part of my childhood, spent hours on it
Giants: by far my favorite one.
Same reason I stopped as well
man you car racist n shit
who remembers ubfunkeys
The Oshawott Man those were lit
dear lord, you made me look it up and reconnect with something I once really wanted
The Oshawott Man
I was legitimately the last player, no joke. I was like, 7, at the time.and the last day before the shutdown of all the servers was depressing. Ah, the memories
Me
I remember, I still have my funky collection.
Omg I so agree supercharger was by far the worst game but the story was so good
#1juraasicpark fan I thought superchargers was really good.
And for some reason, Nintendo just said"this is the best game to do a crossover with Bowser and donkey Kong!"
It's just like if Nintendo work with Phillips....
Oh wait! They done it.
Nintendo had a very low standards.
1 thing.
WHO WOULD ADD NINTENDO TO ACTIVISION!?!?!?!?! NINTENDO ALREADY HAS A FLAWLESS RACING SERIES!!!! (MarioKart)
Super chargers for wii was just a trash rip off of mario cart
I loved skylanders and still kinda do. Too me that was the main game I played on my Wii other than Mario cart. It’s like huge nostalgia to me.
Toys to life is basically Pokémon, if when you caught any Pokémon, ya gotta pay.
Oh god I remember when I accidentally broke my Hex figure’s arm off...
Lmao mines broke too
I had a legendary bouncer. whole body fell off, and I just put the wheel on the portal
TK Maximus that sucks, but that’s hilarious.
• Connor • I had a Stealth Elf whose arm was on the verge of breaking off, but never did.
My flash wings head broke off.
Amiibo is the last toys to life standing
Yeah It’s Really Irritating
Why do you type like that
Daniel Urban Because That's My Only Way Of Typing!
*Nintendo's Amino Franchise Is Still Going Strong*
Yeah, of course the fanbase kept going on.
I have a lot of the toys.
The good old days...
I had skylanders giants and skylanders swap force!!!
toa mistika the moc maker!!! Me to i miss the times when everyone loved it and when i watched skylander boy and girl. But then everything changed and everyone jugged you for playing it.
toa mistika the moc maker!!! I played the first skylanders and skylanders giants. I never played the other skylanders
I remember back in 2011 then me and my friend couldn’t beat Kaos In Spyro’s adventure Because we only had 3 figures, And now I beat Him with only one figure without switching 2018 😂 Good Memories😉
I have those exact same memories.
Sane
Same
It's easy if you have the robot dragon (forgot his name), he was OP as fuck.
Bolek Lolek Drobot 😉
The nostalgia *THE NOSTALGIA!*
In Superchargers Defense, all you needed was two more relatively cheap vehicles to experience the game to it's fullest, and the races were entertaining. I feel like way too many people unnecessarily shit on Superchargers way too often.
They should make a skylanders giant remaster
Skylanders crashed so hard, that the last time I went to Toys R Us, before it died too, a single Skylander was usually around $2 USD, and they had the Core Skylanders (No twist ones) on a Buy-1-Get-4-Free sale. At that point, even before their bankruptcy, Toys R Us, and probably other retailers were trying to sell as many as possible. Just trying to get rid of them.
William Rothan GameStop had bins and bins of Skylanders on a similar sale for basically all of 2017
"With the final pillars of the toys to life gone the genre is dead"
Nintendo: *ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?*
Amiibo isn't really the same genre as the other 3.
Skylanders spyro's non adventure
Skylanders big edition
Skylanders swapped paywall
Skylanders trap wall
Skylanders kart tour
Skylanders oc
Amiibo’s are the only ones that did this right
and the characters are loved more from past games
S pook to be fair, if Skylanders had just stopped at Giants it would be one of the top franchises today
Amiibo did it the worst. You can't even play as the character from the amiibo. There was literally no point in buying them. It was only popular because it was Nintendo
Chay Vyse you clearly have never owned one
Chay Vyse sonic mega man and pac man are nintendo?
Now, if Toys-to-Life did get a proper return, then Funko should do something about the Toys-to-Life video game business.
Shadow Collapse i'm sorry dude i wouldn't know what to do if my mom ever does that😔
Man, that sucks. I have so many memories with some of the Skylanders in my collection, and I would be heartbroken if they ever broke or got sold by accident. I hope you were able to rebuild your collection.
I'm madder at the kids than at your mom. She probably just thought you outgrew them or something. Moms do that.
