If a spiders web landed on me, and then it bolted at me like it did to your camera, I would just die instantly. Right there. Instantly. Like I would fall over as my skin turns pale and my soul would just evaporate in to the afterlife where it would recollect itself, but just be immediately screaming and running, not realizing I had already moved on.
This is exactly what I wanted to know thank you for this vid. Way too underrated, maybe not enough people ask these complex questions, tbh your first explanation is the one I thought first too hahaha
Thank you. I've recently wondered about how a spider makes it web across a distance. Recently I just missed walking into a large web across a fire trail when out at night. We had walked down the same trail earlier in the evening and as I was shining a small torch on the ground to check for snails (we had found some rare local snails just a bit further along) the light made a small reflection off the web. It was a beautiful spider with a completed web. Thankfully I was able to go around a tree so as not to disturb it. It was a lovely experience.
This is so cool. We have a giant orb weaver outside our living room window, and her web is GORGEOUS! I love this time of year because of all the orb weaver webs we see. I took some photos of some beautiful, big webs covered in dew.
"How webs are started" is actually what I have always wondered but no video actually showed it, they only showed how they weave the web after the basic frame has been set across distant, unconnected points..
Spiders are great but also they can be a bit much. I like orb weavers because they stay put and I like jumping spiders because they seem more like mammals.
Amazing. But how do they know when the wind is going in the right direction for the first anchor lines? Do they plan where they want the web first or do they just build it wherever the wind takes it? Or maybe they wait until the breeze shifts just right. Still so many questions 😆
I also wondered how they started. Then one night saw how they project silk into the breeze until it sticks to something that creates a high support. Then go from there.
Exactly! I was watching how spider started web using wind stream and tiny parachute at the end of thread...I was amazed how spider was aware in doing this! My respect to this highly intelligent creature!
That is pretty cool Chris. I find Spiders to be so interesting as well. Many Spiders don't spin webs. Gnaphosids-better known as ground spiders-don't spin typical spider webs. Instead, they catch prey, even those much larger than themselves, by shooting sticky silk to immobilize them. 🕷🕷👍👍
Are these the ones they call pumpkin or autumn spiders? They always start building webs about this time of year around my flood lights and on my deck. They do build pretty large webs and every spider's web is different. It's like some are more talented then others when it comes to the art of their webs. Some just build quickly and it's kind of sloppy and uneven. Then there are some who take their time and their web is perfect and beautiful. I love watching them. They start right at dark and by daylight, the web is gone. They hide under the awning and start again the next night. I never disturb them unless they build right in the doorway. They really are magnificent creatures! 🕸️🕷️
Yes, these and the Marbled Orb weavers are often called Pumpkin Spiders. They can really resemble the color, sometimes. And yes, I have noticed that about their webs, also. I wonder if it has to do with the setting and perhaps any conditions or interrruptions while constructing the webs.
lol….thanks for this. Finally decided to search after years of contemplating….as I run into or. Weaver webs that span six or seven feet across things in my yard.
Cool video thanks! I had an orb Weaver on my porch years ago and I remember it vividly because after a month I watched a red wasp drag it from its hiding place. I was so upset
I love spiders they are so cool and so beautiful. People always look at me funny at work because I will take the spiders outside and set them free. Really hurts my heart when people kill spiders
Excellent and logical explanation. But… how about the s10 inch horizontal strand of silk between one tip of my aloe vera plant and another tip? …on my kitchen counter away from windows and heat vents? Or the one I noticed upstairs in the hallway, from the top of one doorframe to another? …like tightrope walkers gear. What the heck? How does THAT happen?
This is cool af...i saw a web above me while i was sitting down outside and i was like theres no way that spider just jumped from here to waaay over that side. Now I know how the spiders do it!
Here in Florida we have the golden orb spider, aka banana spider. Huge spider, body is the size of my thumb, legs extend like my fingers. They make beautiful large webs. When we go horse back riding, I make my husband lead so he can get the webs first! I am not so keen of them on my face and not sure where the spider is! By the way we have two webs near our barn and will not knock it down cause they are cool to observe.
This is so interesting; so if a spider in my house has a line from, say, the top of the kitchen cabinets to the fridge, is that line carried by the AC or just regular indoor air currents?
This happens in the open but in my garage there is no wind and one time it somehow created web that is several feet between the car and the wall overnight!
One tried to build a web in my room. First thought it was climbing up to the ceiling but then noticed it kept falling to this tiny white dot and climbing up. Felt kind of bad but there was no way I was going to let it build a web
There is always the lightest breeze. The silk weighs so little, but I am sure there are those nights where even a spider has trouble building something - lol
OK.....spiderman I have question for you. I live in a house with white vinyl siding. I have a real spider problem. It used to be the East side had a lot of spiders. Now I have them on all sides. More on the East, but getting more seems like each year. Do you have any helpful ideas to get rid of them. I've tried peppermint oil spray and I think I have heard the spiders laughing at me. Please help if possible. TY!!!🕷🕸🕷👎👎👎
Hey how you doing forgive me I am camping right now so I don't even know if this message will load but anyways first of all do you know what types of spiders are they kind of make the round webs like a broken pane of glass or are they the spiders that make the carpet webs with the tunnel or do they just run around looser what because that's some important information. Until I hear back from you I Hope you have a good day and good luck with the spiders I Used To Be totally phobic of spiders so I can Feel your Pain
@@chrisegnoto They are the kind that make orb webs. I can go out at night see them hanging on the sides of the house. Where they go in the daytime I have no idea. I hate the mess. The poop on the siding is the worst! Every year I have scrub it off. It actually stains the vinyl siding. I use Bleachy White to get it off. For some reason when winter comes a lot of the stains seem to go away? Weird, eh? Hey, thank you for getting back. Enjoy your camping trip. Bill
So when you randomly see a spider crawling up a random web in the woods, I’m assuming it’s because the web they weaved didn’t hold up as they walked across it? I’m assuming? Anyone else seen that before?

Lmao, that almost happened to me!
this comment killed me HAHAHAHAHH same 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Ok I will just grab the spider and put it on a case lol
I forgot to actually watch the video because I read this comment and couldn't stop laughing. Can someone tell me how spiders start their webs, pls?
This is exactly what I wanted to know thank you for this vid. Way too underrated, maybe not enough people ask these complex questions, tbh your first explanation is the one I thought first too hahaha
Thank you for writing. I hoped that this video helped at least one person. I know I wondered this very thing, often!!

(Writing )Spiders are my favorite!
Same, but ours is outside our bedroom window right under a spot light (it eats very well lol)

You my Farr friend are uncomfortably close to that spider
Lol, the huge fishing spider in my "Huge Spiders in NJ" video was a bit close for comfort! lol
Interesting fact about these orb weavers: their venom may actually be medically beneficial. Strange, eh?

Absolutely love your content! Thank you
That is great to hear. Thank you so much, I am always my worst critic, so I really appreciate hearing that
Some spiders can actually spray their webs, just sit their and then boom- like a hose.
lol….thanks for this. Finally decided to search after years of contemplating….as I run into or. Weaver webs that span six or seven feet across things in my yard.
Thank you very very much for this lesson..
Awesome video. I just needed to know!!!!! Thank you
Such a fun video!! Thank you for this!
You are so welcome. Thanks for watching it!
When spiders are in the outer atmosphere, 🚀 you know there is a possibility of them appearing anywhere.
So true. Same for Tardegrades
Cool video thanks! I had an orb Weaver on my porch years ago and I remember it vividly because after a month I watched a red wasp drag it from its hiding place. I was so upset

Imagine he forgot the web was there while he was talking and just smacked it 😂
That has happened :/

DUDE YOUR CHANNEL IS SUCH A FUCKING INSPIRATION
How they do the first line for 2m where no wind?

Hmm. I can't think of any advice to deter them. Perhaps a sprinkler every few days? Kind of a waste of water, though
So when you randomly see a spider crawling up a random web in the woods, I’m assuming it’s because the web they weaved didn’t hold up as they walked across it? I’m assuming? Anyone else seen that before?
Yeah, sometimes that is the case, sometimes it was a safety line or an exploratory line, if you will
That's the most popular spiders in the Philippines
This nerd thanks you
And this nerd loves that!
Did you say spit ?
