All that bloody drinking, hats off to you, you only live once!! I was in Weatherspoons today with my two boys. It was really good value! Three meals with drinks and a couple of wines. All food was cooked in an open, clean kitchen where customers can see everything going on. £30
    P.s asked staff about how popular is the weatherspoons game. And she said "very popular! Especially on Saturdays amongst 20yr olds"

      @@DamnDealDone It's nothing to do with politics. The bloke who owns Samuel Smiths brewery is a much bigger arsehole than Tim Martin could ever hope to be, but that company knows how to do a decent pub. I don't like Wetherspoons because they are not good pubs. They're cheap, but that's all they have going for them. They have no character or charm, and nothing unique about them that makes me want to spend time in them. One Wetherspoons is pretty much identical to the next. Bland, flat pack, pop-up pubs that make life much more difficult for actual pubs.

    I think for future UK trips, the following places are good as hubs because of things to do and/or beautiful scenery and good public transport hubs : Penzance, for Cornwall, especially western Cornwall including Lands End, and the Isles of Scilly. Trains, buses, coaches, car hire, taxis , and even helicopters and ferries to/from the Isles of Scilly. 2) Plymouth, for south Devon/coast, Dartmoor, eastern Cornwall, ferries to Cornwall and othrr parts of Plymouth, as well as ferries to north western France and northern Spain. 3) Barnstaple, for north Devon/coast, mid- Devon, and Exmoor. 4) Portsmouth. An historic naval city on the coast of southern/south-eastern England, and handy for the Isle of Wight, the South Downs, and Brighton. Also ferries to northern France and northern Spain. 5) Bristol, Bath or Cheltenham for The Cotswolds, Western England and Eastern Wales. 6) Chester, for Liverpool, Manchester, North Wales, and the north midlands. 7) Norwich for East Anglia with the beautiful coastline and the tranquil Norfolk broads; also Lincoln for the rest of eastern England, the Fens and a magnificent cathedral. 8) Newcastle, for the city itself, also the beautiful/peace of the Northumberland coast with its sandy beaches and castles. Also inland the even remoter hills of the Northumbria National Park. 9) Inverness, for the Scottish Highlands and Islands, and Loch Ness. Away from Inverness a largely remote and beautiful landscspe, but Inverness is a great hub for local, regional and national bus, train, coach and air services. If you like rail travel, coach travel and/or driving, there are some beautiful routes to explore from Inverness and points north, south, and west across Scotland. 10) Salisbury, for it's medieval history and cathedral extending to 404 feet up. Also nearby, Stonehenge, Avebury, Old Sarum; and just a small distance further, Bath, Bristol , Bournemouth, Southampton, and the New Forest.

    100% agree on UK vs North American pubs. I wish we had pubs like that in North America. No one here mingles at a pub. You sit and talk with who you came with, period. In the UK it's totally normal and expected that you'll chat with people you don't know. That's how people meet new people!

  • @margaretnicol3423
    @margaretnicol3423 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    I know you think that it counts as 'travelling' if you go from one part of the US to another - but it's not. 'Travelling' is more when you go to a different country which has a different language, different culture, different history, different food, different money, different music, etc., etc.. Places that take you out of your comfort zone are the best - and best for you. It'll be interesting to see where you go next but going where people speak English for a first time, especially on your own, was the right thing to do.

    • @EmbraceTheSuck21
      @EmbraceTheSuck21  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on your view that going from one part of the USA to the other isn't traveling, the USA is one of the most diverse countries on the planet from redwood forests in California, the coast of Florida, the deserts in Texas, even both Alaska & Hawaii are two completely different states. Heck both of our states, Maryland & North Carolina offer diverse landscapes that include mountains, cities, and beautiful beaches yet culturally theres a laundry list of differences.
      I tell non-Americans to think of each individual state as it's own country as each state has its own history, culture, food, music, different deviations of the English language (and a significant amount of Spanish speakers). This is why many Americans dont have passports, our country could easily fit 40 UK's with room to spare.
      Am I saying that's a fair excuse to not get a passport and explore outside of the US? No I'm not. I'm of the belief that travel broadens the mind for those who are open to have their minds broadened, which hopefully we've demonstrated we are open to it in the 3.5 years we've been doing this. But to say that going to a different part of the US doesn't count as traveling, you're 100% dead wrong and as somebody we've seen in the comment sections of our videos at least 3.4 of the 3.5 years we've been doing this, respectfully we cannot let you slide on this point, and one of my (Spencer) goals with the Spencer Joyce's World channel is to bust the myth that the US isn't a diverse country, just like I busted so many toxic UK myths these past 2 months 😎

      @@EmbraceTheSuck21 Please don't think I am saying anything negative about the US. It's a fabulous country. I was just talking about the comfort blanket of everyone speaking a version of English so whatever happens you know you can communicate. Landing in a country with a different language is a whole different ball game. My family is in New York, I have old friends in New Orleans, the father of my boys is in New Jersey and I had a long term boyfriend who lived on a large yacht in Fort Lauderdale. Well, they can't all be 'new' states! I never managed to live/work/visit on the West coast though. I've travelled from NO to NY via Washington but I ''travelled'' when I went to France without speaking French. No fun if, say, you need a doctor. By the way, I think the main problem Americans have is the ridiculous lack of paid vacation time. Hopefully now the unions are spreading that can be improved.

    @embracethesuck21 To Daniel,
    As someone with young children myself, traveling can be difficult. My advice to you would be to pick two or three places and stay three or four nights in each place. There are many, many caravan vacation parks all over the country that are reasonably priced and take bookings Monday through Friday or Friday through Monday. Hire a car because it's more convenient with family, and you can venture out of the area on day trips, then drive to your next location. Compare prices and don't be afraid to ask us where the best deal is.

      Wetherspoon pubs are only as good as the management, as is any pub. A good landlord or manager and the pub tends to be decent with regards beer and food. A landlord/manager who thinks the customer owes him a living then it's a lottery on the experience you get. I've been to Weatherspoon pubs where food and drink has been excellent but on the other hand I've also been to some of their pubs where the service , beer and food has been dire. Probably in a popular tourist area the manger with a poor attitude towards customers would be moved on or sacked pretty fast as the pubs tend to be very large and take a lot of money during a day. In a tourist located Wetherspoon not all the food is microwave as they employ proper kitchen staff and possibly a trained chef rather just a member of the bar staff supervising the microwave.

    If you come to Britain again, to discover 'hidden gems', and avoid just going to cities you really must hire a vehicle for the duration and base yourself outside of London.
    Especially if with your family.
    London is great for visiting, seeing specific things etc, but the pressure to try and cram everything in can be a bit intense, you can end up seeing everything and not seeing anything, it just becomes a slide show.
    Personally, I'd head west, but if you wanted to be more adventurous, Ireland is reachable by ferry or the continent by train or ferry too.
    Off peak holiday season travel within the UK can be got cheap.

    Born & Bred Mancunian here, loved watching your adventures. Have you ever considered how cool it is that 2 hugely historic cities in terms of Liverpool & Manchester are only 34 miles apart? I noticed you got the 1 hour train from Liverpool to Manc which would of been the slow line stopping at a fair few places in between. There is also a faster one that usually does the transit between the 2 cities in 35 minutes only stopping at Warrington (Or Waring town the source of the Cranberries Zombie song)+ 1 other station enroute. There is definitely a rivalry between our 2 cities but ultimately we are both cut from the same Irish Cloth, with Scousers being irish that got of the boat and settled there, whereas Mancs laid a railway and dug out a canal got to the other end and settled there. (of course this is a jisty joke with and element of truth to it). MY Mancunian bias though has to say we have an extra element of coolness in the sense if you travelled east for another 35 or so miles from here over the Pennines and the Snake Pass, you hit another one of out great historical Cities in the form of Sheffield, and if you go North East for about 40 Miles also over the Pennines but primarily on a Motorway you hit yet another great City in the form of Leeds. I don't think there is many Cities in the world that can reach 3 other historical cities of signifcane on top of its own in less than an hours drive. We also have Birmingham 80 miles to the South which on a good run can be done in 90 minutes, and within all that same radius of 80 miles we have 3 national parks in the form of The Peak District, The lake District and Snowdonia. I should also add that Salford is a City in its own right too but has been swallowed by Manc.

    You not getting the Banana is the joke. It's probably worked better, then they expected.
    Now i know you like a beer like i do. Newcastle brown ale is one of the mainstream brands i like. I think its from growing up with Shandy bass

    Spencer missing out, Newcastle Brown Ale is still good, but it's very far from how good it used to be.
    But that's to be expected after moving breweries and going from over 7% alcohol to 4.9%
    So far I've heard Spencer just loves things originally from Newcastle - Their brown ale and Greggs

    We've had really weird weather in the UK this year. Our weather has been coming down from Iceland so Spring and the start of Summer were more like Autumn. It's been so strange. Now it's 88F and Summer has arrived. Great vlogs btw I watched them all. 😊

    Damn I missed this due to timing. The vlogs were great as it shows more of the personality of the creator. With Embrace The Suck it in the main is talking about a topic or TV show and we just get the opinion without knowing the people if you know what I mean. You should both go out visiting American and making vlogs on your travels:( Thanks guys that was fan bloody tastic
