    Bravo! Oh, the layers!! As a therapist, I just can't help but squirm for the poor Dr. Lenin. But, Adam, your interventions are right on! This has to be some of the most ingenious improv I've ever seen. Thank you to both of you!! I mean, all three of you!

      +LostNorthUp It is scary because you really feel that monkey is being used in this relationship. This is absolutely unacceptable. Monkey needs to be respected as an individual. It is so unfair.

    Oh my goodness. This is GENIUS. So many levels. Said confidently, this is the most advanced humanity has got in comedy, by a long, long way. Amazing.

  • @jdryak
    @jdryak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    Utterly amazing: one can't tell whether the interlude has elements of authenticity, or its all simply made up from 'thin air'!? I rather think the former, but my goodness, Adam's insightful remarks are so on point for a "therapist". You both are simply spell-bindingly entertaining and disquieting at the same time!

    'She wants to die', followed by Dr. Lenin's pause. My jaw dropped during this moment. There's something heroic about this series in the way it's taking us on an exploration of everyday sadness.

    I think this is actually, genuinely brilliant. The blurring of truth and artifice. Seems like there has to be at least a hint of honesty in these revealing exchanges, but is it just a kernel or is it, in the gestalt, essentially a real expression of an underlying truth?
    Amazing. Touching. Hilarious!

    I just watched Her Master's Voice and laughed and cried.
    Your routines are so uniquely funny and awkward. It gets harder to laugh the more you watch, but when you do, the laughs get bigger, because it's become so tense.
    It's always hard to tell how real the content of these performances is. All I can say is that I love your work. With all your characters.

    I've known of Nina Conti's talent and brilliance for 6 years. From the first she's grabbed me as one who was "deep" beyond the schtick given her quick off the cuff interaction with live audience.....can only be achieved with LOTS of "currents" of thought rushing through a brain at once.....and being amused by the process which is one's "self" while able to watch it at the same time. Here, this is both parody, "set up" and "true" and full of daring.....not only that the truth would leak out, but the criticism that she might receive. There are so many layers available in this clip all at one time. Aside from her humor, talent, and odd beauty (which in fact may be a function of the former) I find her to be one of the most interesting "lesser celeb"/performers current in Europe or US. Of course, being interesting as part of one's "being" is part of her celebrity or as she'd have it here, "performance". I think the bubbling truth in all this is that we do all perform, get caught in that performance ( ie folks count on us to be as we've shown ourselves) then if we "change" our of need of change or trauma we become caught in that next role which was thought to be an escape....though all this may be "true" only for those too conscious ( unable not to be ) conscious of themselves....which becomes its onw burden and thus the need for validation ie performance. Sadly, I would think finding a partner "up" to her brain would be very difficult....

I know I'm just some unknown , but as an artist I feel the truth in your work, I hope to see more of you and the therapist ... seems odd it's just abruptly ended though.. i only hope views and stat's numbers haven't left you disheartened!!! I really don't know how to interpret some of this. As someone who has spent a lot of time in a past life with my hand animating the internals of a sock, with the first person, the third person and the sock puppet person and the lines often all blurred I am am sitting here in some kind of perverse feeling of pleasure and concern. Pleasure because I know how liberating that sock puppet can be, but concerned because as much as the sock puppet is an alter ego, it is still a significant part of who you are and that significant part is very real. To loose that other part or it not be there is a genuine feeling of loss. It's also hard to lock a significant part of yourself in a closet where no one can see it.
    I hope it is just an act and if so a very good act. If not the best I can offer is a hug for all of you :)
