I started a new play through based on that mod. I'd never role-played an Orc before, or spent much time in Solitude or joined the Legion. So I became an Orc and set out for my ancestral home in Skyrim. Along the way I came across some travellers being attacked by bandits and helped the travellers. Turns out one of the travellers was a Legion General who, to thank me for helping them, gave me the deeds to the Corner House (SE player home mod in Solitude by Jessii) and he convinced him to join the legion. Using the Live Another Life mod I begain the playthrough having joined the Leagion and descovered my player home in Solitude. I gave myself the rule that I didn't know where Dol Khazun was and I could only "find" it if organically travelling near it (I was allowed to search in my spear time). Unfortunately I'd need a dozen Orc Companion mods to fill the place.
Yeh I've never even noticed if there are Orc followers - I guess there must be but I rarely take any followers apart from Inigo. It would be kinda cool to have a whole clan living in that place.
@@FebrithDarkstar I think there is one Orc follower per stronghold (5 or 6 total?), but I very much doubt you can move them all to your new home (maybe with other mods?).
The grotto ...it is so eerily reminiscent of scene ... from the Hobbit (1970s) animation where Bilbo finds Gollum on the island and light is streaming in. Eerie the things bring back old memories. Its usable but not my cup of tea. Thanks, Feb! Stay well and until next time - From the other side of the World - bye.
I play an orc right now. I tell myself I always felt a little different so I left my clan to explore the world and "find myself", lol. I felt like I got strong super fast, and I am digging my teeth! I do however prefer posher digs, elysium, texarium etc. I might have this to visit, get in touch with the ancestors a bit, then toddle back to my cozy library for some tea and cookies!
I play Orcs occasionally when I'm in the mood for a warrior run as a change of pace (stealth and or magic is my usual). They aren't Tolkien or Salvatore Orcs in this universe after all but I do understand. I just think of them as green Klingons, which would also put some off but I get the whole warrior culture thing. Video isn't over at this point but if it isn't the one that gives you an orc clan to rule I might just put this in permanently. That's a good spot to have a nearby hideaway.
I came across this video about this mod. It looks really good. I downloaded it and realized it is not completed. The followers will not use the stairs so they cannot enter the buildings. The navmeshes have not been installed correctly. This makes it a nice solo player home but not compatible with any follower.
I like it. It is very Orc-y. As far as candles and braziers being lit, at least in barrows and some ruins I think draugr are responsible for that. In the in-game book Amongst the Draugr it doesn't come right out and say that but it does say that different shifts of them awaken and transfer their life force to the ranking draugr/dragon priest, and then commence to maintenance of the facility. Just a tidbit, plus I love draugr. Lol
Since "lore" is translated from ancient Nord as "Stuff somebody else made up" my own lore on the candles is that its not that somebody lights them its just that many are actually a mage's practical joke and they wont go out. Originally created to annoy friends trying to blow out their birthday sweet roll candles an enterprising merchant locked up the rights to production by locking up the mage who knew how to do it. Sadly, though the candles never extinguish the mage eventually did and the secret has been lost. On a side note the smoke from the ever lasting candles is said to help preserve the draugr and give them the taste of oily beef jerky. That begs the question - who is going around tasting draugr and what exactly was I chewing on yesterday from that packet I bought from that iffy looking stall in town.
@@mathiasedward9729 Absolutely:) She read me the stories she'd loved when she was young so I was lucky she had great taste! I'm from North Yorkshire originally though I don't think it's discernable now:)
Great video! As for your question on who lights candles in dungeons... The Draugr do. They keep it clean and stuff. There's an in game book called "Amongst the Draugr" Or something. Much love!
I have this Mod and my Orc character takes full advantage to play at having a stronghold of her own, and the Grotto in my favorite place to be in there. It's very simple, but a little bit of theming went a long way to feel extremely Orcish.
Ah troll fat, it never dies. Add in a couple of altar boy Draugr and booyah light for thousands of years (or at least 'till you go and start playing Witcher 3.) It does surprise me somewhat that a blue cat and his brotha from anotha in bling shiny armor and touting pink arrows would find Malacath a bit rough on the eyes? Huh, I'll have to contemplate that with the Geydudes. I've tried playing Orcs in the past but never found the appeal, I'm just not a fan of big slow weapons. I like the fact that they're social, always rollin' with their hommies, causing me to question the placement of this mod in my order, I'd need to find 4+ other Orcs to call it home aside me to make it like it belonged. The central location on the map also doesn't really vibe with the lore imo given how threatened the weak human races are by the might of Malacath. I do like the place though and I've not given up on an Orc playthrough, I just need to round up a few more mods to build a complete contextual story. This video has caused me to smell smoke... Perhaps you've given me an idea? Kudos kitty.
I’ve never been inclined to play an orc and their furniture/architecture doesn’t really appeal to me. The chieftain’s hut feels almost Neolithic. Like we’ve just discovered agriculture and are settling down instead of being quasi medieval.
Was Hulk an Orc or Super Mutant created buy a scientist who used a bogus alteration spell on himself?...OR...Are Super Mutants descendants of Orcs mutated by Bruce Banner?
You got me, I dunno - they look kind of grey to me and I put it down to living in holes in the ground (well they would be in Middle-earth or on the Sword Coast) !
The official lore is that they were very close to High Elves at one point and worshiped a god called Trinimac a long time ago. Now, Trinimac was very vocally against other elves picking up some Daedra worship and trying to move away to worship Boethia, Malphala, and Azura is peace. Trinimac was a very traditional guy and it made him really mad that any elf would try to give up their traditional worship. Naturally the Daedra were just as displeased by Trinimac trying to stop anyone from worshiping them. There's a couple mildly different stories of how it exactly went down, but somehow Boethia managed to consume Tinimac, took Trinimac's voice and revealed all the "lies" he's told. When Boethia was done with that, they relieved them self of Trinimac. What was left of Trinimac was corrupted and was no longer Trinimac. What came out was Malacath. All of Trinimac's people who weren't convinced by Boethia to abandon Trinimac were cursed just the same and were changed into the orcs we have today. Now, it's gross, but the literal minded theorize the orcs are greenish because Malacath was literally pooped out, and his faithful rushed to his side and, er, rubbed themselves in the poo so they could be changed with their god. Malacath himself says people take it too literally. I don't imagine it was literal, personally, it seems like there's be a lot more consequences than going from Aedra to Daedra if Boethia ate you literally, but that's just me. Also, side note, the people who the three Daedra were trying to get to move away? They were eventually changed too. Those were the elves who would become the Dark Elves. They made those three Daedra super mad by trying to replace them with mortal gods years later, so in the end nobody was unscathed. Hope that makes sense. It's a weird story.
The stylized choice of Boethiah when Trinimac was defeated and turned to Malacath along with his devoted, pre-first era but obviously during the green period of his artistic existence.
Cool cave!!!!!! I am Ms light bright anytime I go into any dark crack or crevice in Skyrim. A gal needs to see who she be slaying! The orcs rude wit for some reason makes me laugh.
