  • @eddietor_cine

    The one thing about the logo. Lows seemed impressive. But when you switched to the movo (wearing headphones) I could hear the fire a lot more, whereas on the rode the fire sound is reduced much more. That’s just this test but it’s really cool. Would love to test that.

    The Movo has a flatter sound to me, which I prefer. Have you found that backdrop hanger system you were talking about?

  • @lukevlaar3286
    @lukevlaar3286 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Rode mic has an overall flatter pickup pattern and can pick up higher frequencies Up to about 15khz as opposed to the movo's 12.5 to 13 Khz, while the movo offers more depth around the 100-200 hz range resulting in a more rich and deep sound, albeit at the expense of clarity in the highs (5-8 Khz) which is what the brain uses most to differentiate one word from another. Additionally the flatter pickup pattern of the rode offers numerous benefits when it comes to getting the best audio quality in post, and is an indication of its ability to pick up sound from further distances and at wider angles than that of the movo, so with a faster moving subject thats more difficult to keep in the "hot spot" of the microphone the rode will definitely serve you better if you are looking for the best quality overall, but the movo is great for simpler run and gun type film making

  • @Gerald_G
    @Gerald_G 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fun and informative video (as usual)! I think the MoVo actually sounded best. Seemed to pickup a bit more of the lower frequencies to give more full sound. And those Kondor Blue accessories look pretty sweet!

    Can you do a accessory list for filmmakers who need bifocals to help use focus better? I rely on camera EVF + glasses loupe + focus magnify. But on set, rigging up the camera is terrible for me. I get yelled at by producers and directors sometimes when i miss focus on quick shoots. I always have to bring a Camera Assistant but clients never want to pay my assistant fee.

    The Rode Micro sounds really hollow and the lack of depth is really apparent with that comparison! Same with the MOVO, but it sounds less shallow and the bass tonnes are far richer than the Rode Micro. The Rode Pro + obviously has a captures a much wider ranger of tonnes compared to the other two and you can really feel the spacial separation between everyone around the fire, but its almost too rich i feel. Maybe its just picking up way more bass frequencies and they're crowding the low end.
    Super interesting comparison Gene, as always!
    Ps: A big yes to the master class my dude!

    The knockoff has a little bit of phasing in it that bothers me... Not sure if that comes from the polar pattern or what, but even though I prefer its frequency response, I would stick to the rode because of how precise the polar pattern is and how much more detail there is in the low-end. (I'm not talking volume, I'm purely talking how accurate is the sound reproduction of the element in there) Also the micro sounds sooooo thin it's just not fair to put it against the others
