Agree this is def my favorite of the year so far, followed closely by Monolith (that would have been #1 had the ending been a little different). I think we've got another good year of horror ahead of us!
I agree. One of my favorites for the year. It just shows you what emotional abuse from a mother can do to a child. She never got over it, even when she tried to kill her inner child. I mean, in an extreme case. I’m not saying everyone grows up to you know do what she did at the end.
Just watched it tonight and absolutely loved it! It reminded me a bit of Censor and Saint Maud with the psychological horror angle. Definitely my favorite horror film of 2024 so far!
Funny you should mention Tool. Robert Mogan did the stop motion animation for their 'Sober' music video. He also has several great shorts such as The Cat with Hands, Bobby Yeah & his Basket Case short film Belial's Dream, which was written by Henenlotter. I saw Stop Motion back-to-back with Drive Away Dolls. Great time at the movies.
😮just finished it. Definitely fantastic movie!!!! Just the sound of those " meat puppets" moving 😂. The little girl reminded me of Jodelle Ferland in Tideland. If Kali hasn't seen Tideland, PLEASE show her!!
I don't watch reviews before seeing anything, because I try to know as little about it before I watch it. Your thumbnails help with that, so thanks for that, but sometimes hurt. Like your most recent one for Late Night With The Devil spoiled that characters head being on fire, so I'll be waiting for that the entire time when that movie becomes available for me to watch. Lots of cool moments in this one, but I agree they could have done so much more with the elements at hand, perhaps there were some budgetary restrictions or something behind the scenes.
Didn't pay attention enough to figure out what was going on with her leg, guess I'll have to re-watch! (hint, spoiler review?) Bet you guys would enjoy Let Her Out (2016), but you probably saw it...if not, it's a strong recommendation... : P
I just got back from seeing it after watching your review. I absolutely loved it! Agree that it’s probably not for everyone. So creepy! Yes, best so far.
I haven’t been this confused since Titane. I had to watch Titane twice to have an opinion on it and same with this movie. I love movies that have something to say , abstract horror. I loved this movie but it was hard to watch at some points.
Look forward to when this comes to streaming, just like Terrifier, I'm doomed to waiting through tons and tons of Americans gushing about a movie that isn't playing in Canada lol
lol this was a very limited released from the UK, which surprised me since your Canadian, I would’ve thought they’d have better distribution deals with UK currently?
I can enjoy all kinds of movies and different subgenera or tone. I loved this movie, made me uncomfortable mainly that LSD scene which combined with that music and my past having used that substance really sucked me into that scene. Lots of early foreshadowing that was a bit obvious to me mainly the scene early on when she pinched her boyfriends nose to wake him to me that gave away his fate. otherwise the director let the audience figure things out and treats the audience like people not idiots. some other movies that have way to much expositional dialogue thats just in your face that isn't earned. it felt earned in this movie. id give it like an 8.0/10

It seems like it

Good comparison
Great review and film the animation and ash man were terrifying!
Loved this movie. You mentioned the director’s stop motion work. I would suggest that all watch his highly twisted Bobby Yeah.
Ainesley Franciosi, also co starred in last years “The Last Voyage of the Demeter”. And is half Italian like Lauren Lavera

Oh cool

I'll definitely check it when it goes to streaming, glad that you'll and Doctor Wolfula seem to dig it.

Edit: monolith is next
She probably hasn’t

His head doesn’t catch on fire to my memory. It is just a cool image

Gonna watch this weekend hopefully it's descent my expectations are extremely low
Makes sense that they are low since you hope this is descent
@sinistercinemareviews5420 I hope its descent cause all the reviews I've seen say the movie sucks

❤️❤️❤️
Saw the trailer for this on here - looks good, I thought it was out last year though...fair enough. Glad it was good. Have you seen Possum?
Yes!
I loved this horror film it’s definitely in my Top 5 of the last 3 or so years for sure.

Just caught this movie the other day, loved it.

Look forward to when this comes to streaming, just like Terrifier, I'm doomed to waiting through tons and tons of Americans gushing about a movie that isn't playing in Canada lol
