This is what makes classic BMW's so remarkable and desirable. They look so simple at first glance but are incredibly complex machines that meld their myriad of finely tuned parts to work together as one seamless piece. No single part sticks out from the rest, but remove that one part and you'll immediately notice it's absence. The level of craftsmanship, patience and care I witnessed in this video was mind boggling. This looked like it was commissioned by BMW itself(?).
Stunning "new" 2002! Always will be my ultimate vehicle. Had the privilege of owning a 1974 2002 back in the early 90s, and it remains the only vehicle I wish I had never sold. Thanks for taking us along this build! A true masterpiece!
I share your sentiment. I had two of those, crashed the first one then bought an other. Later on I sold it, over two decades later I still miss my 2002.
I had a ‘74 as well…black. Bought in ‘76, had for 13 years. Drove her all over the country…never let me down. Sold her in late 80’s. Wish I never sold it. I did, however, purchase a black ‘76 a month ago that needs some TLC. Looking forward to the journey. “Full circle”!
What a stunner! Now I want an orange BMW 2002 too ! ! ! I enjoyed every minute of this... no music... hardly any talking... just the sound of wrenches, torches, tools and craftmanship clunking away on steel and sheet metal - sehr schön & gut gemacht!
that is incredible, they built a new / old BMW ? thats like a Dream come true, some individuals are so talented & gifted. Imagine what people would pay for that!!
this was visual medicine. Wonderful job and as well intelligently filmed, I appreciate seeing the techniques employed instead of the usual before and after shots we tend to see. Thank you for posting this video.
I had a 1971 standard Bimmer, same color. It was my very first car and the one I remember with greatest affection. Looking at this video has been a blast!
Love this! What a great car BMW made in the 70’s... And these guys are wonderfully talented. A couple of comments though. It would have nice to see the dashboard installed near the end. And the driver’s door fit at the B pillar seems rather poor, considering the high quality effort for the build. Great memories of my brother’s lighter Colorado orange 2002.
This is “comfort food” for BMW enthusiasts! Amazing. So comforting to watch. If you love old beemers and have the dream of restoring a 1602/1802/2002, and get reed of all the rust and the “old car” normal problems, in order to have it as your daily drive, this is really the dream!
Tolles Video.
Wow, what great craftsmen. I ran a yellow 2002 Tii for 5 years with the kugelfischer fuel injection. Really interesting to watch. I wonder if the build was a commission for someone?
Ich hatte einen 1502 und einen 2002. Sehr gute Autos.
The best movie (video) ever, replica or no I wish to drive this car every day to my work, it is beautifull, not mention the engineering or better said craft man skils, I take my hat out, congratulation to all this gentleman, you have the best work ever.
I appreciate craftsman level work. I built aircraft and paid strict attention to the body of it but not just because it was beautiful, but because it mattered to the lives of the occupants.
GR8 Video / GR8 Automobile; A Classic Car; Classically Built. Cannot imagine the Heaven I Would Be In To Drive That Classic BMW 2002 Tii. Even the color is Perfect.
Added to my favorite list. This is an amazing reporduction!Do you have a list of all your partners? Would be really interested in having the seats in my 2002 Touring covered the same way as this one.
Mesmerizizing craftsmanship to restore a timeless masterpiece........... if, I had the chance , I would revive one with current technology to make a rival out of it!
KZ: LB-HL-971.
leloodallasmultipass I am a sneaky foreigner. I remember dad doing leadingbonbthe rear wing of a Jaguar it gave such a nicer finish than p38. How to you keep thing original when doing restoration for shows which demand the vehicle be restored to there original standard?
+leloodallasmultipass They do it because that's how BMW built them originally. This area does flex on the 2002. Strangely, the lower wing/panel joint is not lead filled from factory, only the upper.
I'm now owning my 5th Beemer. Always amazed at the quality and precison. The Germans simply don't stop at "good enough" or even "great" - they push through to excellent.
I had an e34 325 Convertible and e34 sedan. Sold the convertible due to skin cancer scare, now just bought e46 sedan, my son has the e34 sedan. Great cars, great motors, great local dealership cafe as well!.
That body, hand assembled from BMW parts, with all the joints sweated with lead and finished out, primed and painted, probably cost more than a new 5 series!

Its almost art,,,,

I still miss my tii. Keep coming back to videos of this model, 35 years after I sold it.

Glad you enjoyed it!
BMW 2002 ti designed in 1973 and produced in 2015 :) Amazing job! Respect guys!
At 21:33 - what an innovation, a way to put the window down without motors, switches and a bunch of wiring! Maybe someday modern cars will have this.
This is absolutely the best ! This is probably my favorite auto in the world. Excellent job! What a work of art!
Fascinating to see this car again. I used to own a white one. I sold it many years ago, but I loved this car, a 1973. Beautiful video, too!
Abraços do Brasil.
i love Recife!
that is incredible, they built a new / old BMW ? thats like a Dream come true, some individuals are so talented & gifted.

Never can be road legal, new vin that would have to be compliant with current safety laws and will never pass
Obvioulsy the vin comes from a lesser vehicle in cases like this.

These guys are artists creating new cars by hand. Great craftsmanship
Magnifique ! Superbe !

Awesome job! It turned out beautiful. And all that in 44:00 minutes...You could build 10 a day and still have 40:00 for lunch.

Amazing job,you are the king of car production. Very nice
Wow, wonderful car.
Great guys !!
The modern cars advs that go with this video make look these oldies even more desirable, and those modern cars even duller!
Little know fact: Just towards the end, you will see one of them sort smiling for about .002 nanoseconds. Man, they excited, don't they?
No talking no smiling, just sausage.'cos Germany.
A stunning car and wonderful craftsmanship.
What a master piece, job well done
Incredible work!

Wahnsinn, it is identical to the 2002 I drove as a kid in the early 70's! Down to the cigarette lighter placement. Perfekt gemacht!
Tolle Leistung, quasi ein neuer 2002 tii !
This was so... therapeutic.
Complimenti una vera opera d'arte
Amazing job guys, well done 👏 ✔️
Just WoW! I would park it into my living room.

Added to my favorite list. This is an amazing reporduction!Do you have a list of all your partners? Would be really interested in having the seats in my 2002 Touring covered the same way as this one.
Sehr geehrter!
Sehr interessant, woher bekommen Sie neue Teile?
Mesmerizizing craftsmanship to restore a timeless masterpiece........... if, I had the chance , I would revive one with current technology to make a rival out of it!
Germany at its finest
One seriously major problem with that car gents......... not in my garage! Absolutely gorgeous!
I had one as a lad in So. Cal. It was so much better than anything else from Japan, or the U.S.
A pleasure too watch that cleam work :) Unglaublich :)
That is an awesome work of art, in inka orange, now if you you could make or restore a 2002 Turbo,👏👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍

Toll gemacht! Viel zu schade zum Fahren. Klasse!
nice to see lead work still being done modern filler are not as good.
+keith Newton they do it because they're sneaky foreigners. it's illegal in the US. Sad.
leloodallasmultipass I am a sneaky foreigner. I remember dad doing leadingbonbthe rear wing of a Jaguar it gave such a nicer finish than p38.

type4968 whoosh.
Very nice job!
Veary good,,,,عالی
beautiful 2002 Tii
Very nice !
Saubere Arbeit.
When they installed the sunroof drainage tubes I was like "Noooo there has to be a better way!". My '68 needs rust repair because of those tubes -_-
+Mat R Roof has been always BMW weakness, especially with convertible ones.
Same with my e30
I love that Orange! and those panel beaters are masters at lead wiping, go to any resto shop in Oz and it would've be bog used instead.
.. and ruffazgutz as well.
+Stu Art. exactly, I worked in a panel shops both in Australia and Germany, and us Aussies can learn heaps from the Germans.
+Stu Art. e34 is a 5 serie
Hope they packed those wheel bearings with grease before the final build and that left door fit needs fettling. Other than than, Wow!
Tell me, why did you melt the seam of the front wing with tin (3:12), how can you remove it then? The wing is a removable part, a consumable ...
Proffs Jobb!
Magnifique
simply beautuful, the colour was called INKE or INKA in Germany, it was very popular in it's day, i had a 2000Cs in same colour
Increíble trabajo! Felicitaciones
Fantastic
That body, hand assembled from BMW parts, with all the joints sweated with lead and finished out, primed and painted, probably cost more than a new 5 series!
I'd rather drive it than a 5-series...
