- Today we're reacting to the JP, CN, KR, and EN versions of Sparkle's trailer, and dang! The voice actresses in this Sparkle trailer really did an incredible job! Bravo! Honkai Star Rail has some crazy talent for VAs. I really loved all of these different interpretations. It’s so fun to go over all the intricacies in the voices hehe

Them not adding the "bleeeh" in other versions is a real shame.
It's honestly hard to pick a favorite here, but the little "bleeeeh" moment the CN actress does just pushes that one over the top.
I really did like that "bleeeh" lol that was such a great choice on the CN VA's part

Sad to say as a JP player but CN Sparkle really outdid themselves man
All the sparkle pv CN is just different. Plus it has a different depth since I speak Mandarin so i understand the tone they use and they did it perfectly
As you said the laugh
But the other pv when the mask is doing the opposite of her emotion, is like when she's sad and in pain and broke into a psychotic laughing tone of saying the line when I'm crying you're smiling
17:05 she’s not just waving her hands around, she looks like she’s begging not to be shot
It is interesting the sheer number of times you've seen the same line with different interpretations, and said " that is so sparkle". Goes on to show just how many sides the character actually has to her. I like your approach to these, showcasing what you like about every VA's approach and pointing out what's different. Some people turn into quite a snob when it isn't their favoured language, and they just end up losing out exploring other perspectives.
But among all the "who's the real sparkle?" questions, I have found the answer. The real sparkle is the one who refused to grace my account even after 70 pity, laughing like a maniac as she mocked my depleting funds. Finally went to 300 pity on the standard banner, and picked my first Bronya instead, with dreams of mono quantum Seele team disappearing into a sea of butterflies.
I'm sorry to hear that you didnt get your Sparkle. I'm simply just gonna skip her even though I really like her, but I'm saving hard for Acheron since I'm f2p and gotta make a hard decision and my resources are limited. Goodluck on your next pull ❤
@@Lucydity_ Cheers! I initially wanted to skip sparkle, but mono quantum lured me in. Atleast now I can try for E1 acheron. I hear you about the pain of f2p. I just buy the daily pass, and no more. Time for me to stop being lazy and grind the simulated universe content I guess :D Good luck on your acheron pulls!
Oh noooo! I'm sorry you didn't get her! But hey, you're closer to the Acheron dream now! :D plus there's still time on the Sparkle banner, so you still might be able to get her :) also, yes! I really think all the VAs did amazing. It's cool to look at the different choices each one makes and the different interpretations

I think Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect was the first time I actually noticed the amount of impact VAs were having on my game. I feel so old when I realize one of the VAs in Dragon Age was a young talented guy, who now voices Dain in Genshin.
I'm loving how so many genres of games are now coming up (like Reverse 1999 for the art), which focuses on more than just the gameplay, and finding success.
The CN Sparkle is the best for sure, there's a lot of little details it nails compared to the other trailers, especially the "bleeh". I will say personally though, JP is a little too high-pitched and the EN voice is just at the right decibel. The EN voice just has this "ambitious" energy to their voice that I appreciate.
I would say Cn/JP are pretty tied for their trailer performance overall, topping the other in different matters, but the JP's nuances during the in story voice lines are peak
CN VA got access to the video is what it been rumoured around, it gets her job easier too and yep she is good.
Sparkle with hand on her cheek is Himeko since I think she does that pose sometimes or just representing her chilling drinking tea tbh. The one in the middle is Welt since she mimics having glasses.
1:58 I think you could say the middle sparkle is Welt because of her fingers over her eyes like they were glasses
This theme has been stuck in my head for three days straight, and I'm not even playing HSR...
It's SO good! This might be my favorite theme in the game. Seriously so catchy lol
3:06 also love the fact she made a little “oh” noise as the gun fired which the other versions (didn’t see the KR version so not sure) didn’t have
let's analyze the video trying to say here. there is two Sparkle, one red mask and one white mask. red invite white to play Russian Roulette (1 bullet, 6 slots, chance 1/6). White asked "What's the price". Red andwered "Life of a faker".
Now how the game started:
1. White shots herself first- missed - then got interrupted by enemies.
2. Red got the gun. She shots herself 3 consecutive times - all missed.
3. White doesn't smile anymore. Red give White the gun and point at her own forhead, triggered, and it missed.
4. At the end of the trailer. White gets shot in the head with the bullet and drop her mask. Red picks it up and places it on her face, turn into red mask.
There's so much symbolism and so many repeating themes in this trailer that are both really cool but make the lore theorist part of my brain go 'aaaaaaaaa'

thank goodness i got so used to using cn vas because i've been watching so many cdramas latety and having sparkle's cn trailer being the best among four is just a treat to me. that psycho laugh and the bleh just scratches an itch in my brain. ugh.
I think the part where she was waving her hands is her telling the other clone not to shoot her.
I really like the way you dissect each V.A.’s approach to voicing the character. Would love to see more of these in the future😊
Sparkle is Kurumi (Date a Live), The Joker (DC) and Monokuma (Danganronpa) all in one.

I think this is the first time I've noticed each VA was not just good but excellent in capturing something about the character. Thanks for walking through it all with us! 🎉
Just to add, at the very end where sparkle is having dinner or something- her mask turns fully red
The CN laugh definitely sounds the most psycho, the VA did an amazing job there. Overall though, my personal favorite is still JP, as the playfulness and cheekiness in her voice hits just different and she's also very amazing with the various nuances, like the super annoyed tone in her voice during the main quest when she talks to Aventurine. To be fair though, Reina Ueda is among my top 3 favorite VA's (basically my top 3 all share a first place in my heart lol), so I'm also a bit biased here 😂
Here's my headcanon for now:
Sparkle(White Mask) came in contact with Aha(Red Mask) somehow and it infected(?) her mind. Taking a hint from the end of the trailer where Red Mask(Aha) is holding White Mask(Sparkle) literally in the palm of her hands, it gains control over her body and so the red part of the mask creeps into the white part, giving us the Sparkle we see now; containing part of, maybe all of Aha in her corporeal body trying to take back control or maybe, even better, working with Aha.
Update: I just found out by slowing it down, at 4:52 we see Aha's mask after white mask shoots the red mask. So I'm thinking this part is where she actually loses it to Aha. It reminds me of Prototype where you kill someone to get their skinsuit; it's like Sparkle shot Aha and it got into her.
funny addition there is one more mask. Black. When you see all the mask surrounding her you see a black mask amongst them.

I think the three Sparkles on the couch in Monodrama are a inverse on the three monkeys. First one sits carefree nodding her head to the rhythm, the other is making hand goggles to stare at Sparkle, and the last one is taking pictures and posting all about sparkle as she walks by. I hear evil, I see evil, I speak evil.

My ranking
1. English - I feel like the EN community doesn’t focus a lot on their own dubs, BUT THIS IS SO GOOD (especially the “ME! I AM ELATION!”)
2. Japanese - Very difficult to choose between CN and JP, but I feel like JP flows better.
3. Chinese - THE LAUGH IS SO GOOD, just it doesn’t flow as well as the others
4. Korean - Not bad… but compared to the others…

one detail that most missed. At the very end, when White Red Mask Sparkle pops out and say "were you just scared?", all other versions always laughed a bit first which takes out the tension while we were looking at a menacing Red Mask Sparkle. The CN version has her just popped out without the pre-laughing. This little difference make Sparkle sudden appearance like a jump scare (especially in combination with the music at this point) in CN version.
17:05 My interpretation is that she's waving in surrender, like "don't shoot!", before getting shot down by the red-mask Sparkle(indicated by the streamers that symbolise blood).
I have to say the CN version was the best EN is the second best in my opinion but then again the original ones are always the best because that's what other's are using as a point of reference..!!!!
The mask is most certainly a curio, maybe a gift from Aha. In Black Swan companion quest Sampo asks Sparkle whether he can take back his mask from "The Tavern" (supposedly domain of Elation). It is heavily implied that these masks grant powers. I am 100% sure her mask is what gives her the ability to shapeshift.
I feel like i should followed her sooner.
Love how she analyzes the trailers and how much she is into it.

I would say Sparkle embraces the whimsical inner child who is driven by chaos. Not in the sense of destruction, but more in the idea of everything being all over the place lol
She is a person of 1000 masks/identities ahahah
Actually didnt noticed how much the masks vary in color and i wonder if they could be related to emotion or something more specific.
I dont think she is the antagonist of Penacony or one at all but more of someone who is enacting a play in the midst of all confusion and having fun with it.

its honestly amazing how you can see and hear all the little details in the trailer its so fun actually realizing all of it and being attentive to it. the music is def the best part on my opinion, especially on 2:07. im also not sure if i remember correctly bcs i did the quest a few weeks ago but i think sparkle does actually turn into another character in the story, again, im not sure but the story was really fun to play and i love exploring all the dreamscape areas ^^. i love how on 15:9 one of them is playing with that toy thing i forgot what its called but its pretty fun to play it. also am i not getting notifs or have you not been streaming on twitch for a while? :,> i dunno if you took a break or smth i just miss your streams 😭
Thank you! I had a lot of fun focusing on the voice acting in this one :) I agree about the music! It's so catchy. Sparkle is a really interesting and fun character for sure. Also, as far as streams go, my main focus is TH-cam right now, so streams are just whenever I have the time/energy for them, which is not often lol

THE BEST TRAILER EVER
As a person who plays JP, i was kinda sad that CN was so good in this trailer but ngl it was so good that makes her character so captivating.
Also Sparkle = Harley, Kurumi combined. All crazy but fun ❤
When u talked about the black Maske and then goes frame to frame at the Part where they Show the other Charaktere and what color the mask has, u didnt notice that the Black mask Was sparkle
Like Black mask = sparkle
White mask = Swan
Red mask = the Guy (forgot his Name)
And Archon = white & Red mask
I found an interesting theory about Sparkle's mask somewhere before.
It's as if the colors the mask is showing is like an indicator of who is in control of "Sparkle".
My assumption would be:
White mask: Sparkle - Full Control
White/Red mask: Sparkle/Aha (Battle Ready?)
Red mask: Aha - Full Control
So, in the scene where she said "What is Elation? I AM Elation", she wasn't lying. And it seemed like Aha was teaching/training Sparkle to be... "Elated" on that scene.
And at the end scene, after all the displayed insanity, it was ALL Aha's doing.
Sparkle is just Aha's puppet. And she's all there for it.

I really liked the mostly high pitched voice of jp voice, because speaking in high pitched voice is considered as you're talking in great interest with someone. So it felt like she's faking her persona most of the time and not letting any chance for someone to know her real self

I dont think people give English voice actor enaught credit for her hype and inflection on the "I am ELATION !" line its just so epic

Black mask is black swan, white mask is Aventurine, red mask is Acheron, half white half red mask is Sparkle
Actually the white mask represents Sparkle. Red mask represents Aha. The half red half white implies that Aha took over of Sparkle and now they’re merged into one
i think Chinese it's the original voise bekause in the Chinese version and the other versions the mouth in min 1:08 is moving the same but in Chinese version the mouth is moving with the voise. AND i am not saying about your reaction i am saying about the original video.
It feels like the CN VA delivered the lines more appropriately for the scenes? Idk how to explain it but EN and JP feel like dub-overs at certain parts (I mean they all are but still) and not in sync with the video. That's not say they aren't good, I'm just nitpicking here.
