- We went to Charleston, SC for an open water swim race and the afternoon afterwards was ours. Knowing nothing accept of an inbound NS at 5, I'd say it was a very successful trip. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
Very nice looking Palmetto switcher!

Florida Railfan Update: my request to the group has been approved! So, we’re good now.
Got a question: Do you know how often or when that Palmetto or just that autorack train it’s shunting runs? At the end of July, I’m supposed to have a trip to Charleston, SC and I would like to know how often that train runs. Also, may I ask where the good spots around Charleston and Hanahan to railfan are? I know there’s a switching job by the aquarium where the trains switch autorack cars which I’m thinking that’s the Palmetto train. When you get a minute, please let me know if you get this and have the details. I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
GMTX 2613 Given that I'm an Orlando local, and have railfanned Charleston once, my info probably isn't the best to go off of. However, I know the NS rack train that the Palmetto is preparing departs nightly (unsure of which days of the week) and I believe it arrives in mornings. There's also an NS yard in North Charleston, which sees a couple inbound afternoon manifests. I'm pretty sure most of the NS intermodal traffic is a morning and nighttime thing, but yet again, what do I know. CSX also has a yard but I'm not too sure of its operations because I was focused on NS and the Palmetto when I was there. This was all recorded on a Saturday afternoon, so I can only imagine weekday traffic is even heavier. Hopefully this helps, there are also a lot of great people on Facebook who helped me find all this out prior to my trip, and I'm sure they'd be happy to do the same for you. Good luck!!
Florida Railfan okay, thank you! May I ask who I can talk to and message? I’m a facebooker myself. May I ask who I can get some details from? Again, I really appreciate the help and you have some really awesome information. I apologize if I’m giving you a hard time. I’m asking because I’m going there to visit my uncle and aunt
And this is my first time railfanning here in Charleston and I don’t visit Charleston frequently. The last time I’ve been was in 2012 so, it’s been years. Thank you so much for the information. You’re really a big help.
Glad I can help, not a problem at all. I don't wanna give any names away on the internet for privacy's sake, but I posted in "The Real Carolina Railfans" group on facebook, and people were quick to message me and give me train times and good spots to be. Also, (if i remember correctly) North Charleston can get kinda rough; I tried not to stick around there too long
Florida Railfan okay, sounds good! I must say I understand the privacy thing. Ha! If some idiot were chasing me around at school putting my face around the media, I’d probably trash them! I’ll see if I can get a hold of the group.
Sounds good, good luck
