Haha that edit at 7:26 and for a couple of seconds. How many times can I say it’s my Dimebag preset /impulse
Ampiro 2 is much better.
Hahahahahah
Is it possible to go foh and power amp at the same time?
Is it just me or is the overall volume of this video pretty low?
is that by any chance the dimebag impulse response that you did?
I love the way you stay true to the METAL! Sending good vibes always and forever...
everyone else: *sUcH gRoUnDbReAkInG*
Ola: it's not a fucking jackhammer, can't break ground, but it DOES do Dimebag tones which is close
No sceen, single signal path, no boost, no plugin compatibility, all for $549.
What a fucking deal
Just no reason to spend 500$ on this thing
you can capture the plugins tho. the cloud has thousands of free captures (with boost) as well, so you can already circumvent some limitation. pretty sure future updates will bring new features as well
You can add a capture of a boosted amp, but other than that yeah, what a bummer. Also no choices for Modulations fxes
@@iconiconiconiconicon IMO the fact that the cloud already has thousands of free captures actually _reduces_ the value of this over other options - because you don't actually need the capturing technology, they could have just made a capture player.
If there is another foot switch in this unit, i will consider it as great competitor with stomp series
Good job... out of all the reviews so far...you are the first one i saw that actually makes it work using the editor....I personally hate editing on little screens I want my lap top or desk top....and working right in my Daw...and if you say it sounds good.... then it sounds good...thanks Ola
For me I think this sounds better than most modelers out there, it’s up to people to decide if they think that justifies the price. I think it does. But I understand if people don’t
Wow! I can finally run and capture the amps I don't have and limit myself to one chorus, reverb and delay to increase my creativity.
Sorry but, this thing was NOT well thought out.
@@mars6433 lmao yeah, that's exactly what they are talking about 🤣🤣🤣 Terrible product.
You're slow. People that love their analog pedals just throw their amp on their pedalboard now and it's cheaper than a junk solid state combo amp.
@@Illiyinmusic You can do the same thing with the tonex one pedal for a fraction of the cost, this should've been the HX stomp version of the Quad Cortex
exactly. Sound like a win to me
Great review man! That was exactly what I was looking as a bedroom player! Mine arrived on Friday and I have been experiencing excellent tones!
Please do some captures from EVH amps.
Ola, on your upcoming "Escape the Internet tour", just use the Boss metal zone pedal! \w/!!!
Thanks Ola you are a legend my friend. Keep rockin out man
Was just listening to audio only, and 7:16 had me busting a gut laughing. Love ya Ola.
That’s exactly what I need. Two buttons super simple set up, a clean, heavy, solo tone/ambient cleans
All I got out of this video is that A NEW THE HAUNTED ALBUM IS BEING WRITTEN!!!
FUNK YES
Can't wait, highly overdue!
Sounds good enough, seems like a niche product, useful for an established touring musician who needs to travel light. Not useful for anyone trying to explore their own sound.
It seems like a solid option for a lot of people and one that might not be ideal for others.
There that’s the review.
This is a more balanced review than most I've seen on this pedal
I love mine. Connect a Rocktron All Access midi controller and I have 15 presets per bank at my feet and don't wear out the rotary switches on my Nano. This pedal, my phone and a midi controller is really all I need....well, maybe a wah.
I love that you can capture the plugins on this I love hardware for running my daw tones. I keep everything racked so live I won’t even see this
For tube lovers Prs MT-15 600, Engl Ironball is about 900 Euro, Ironball is a very good sounding amp not only for metal, also great cleans and crunch and breakup cleans. Amazing amp for the price. 20 watts. And Mt-15 is 15 watt.
Engl Ironball is 929€ and Ironball SE is 1239€
@@kapteenikronos3265 Sorry… They were cheaper… Maybe its increased now… I’ll fix my post…
@@kapteenikronos3265 Sorry they were cheaper before I fixed it.
Just built my pedalboard gigging rig with Nano Cortex. It’s everything I wanted in an Amp-in-a-box. Simple, no hassles!
New Haunted!? Can’t wait to listen to some new material 🤘
I’m legit hyped to get mine. It’s EXACTLY what I was wanting. Our singer and bassist play QC’s and I want a small amp in a box with great tones and being able to capture my amps and amps that come through my studio for review is a bonus.
Kemper player was too expensive.
I have my own drive pedals and my own delay/chorus pedals but them adding the ability to add a simple 2 button TRS foot switch to toggle delay and chorus on/off with an update would be nice.
@@FastRedPonyCar your videos are awesome! I hope you make content when it arrives.
@@southwestshooters Thanks man! Yeah even if I don't gig with it much, the size makes it a nice little studio tool to jam on and work on songs for our shows. The capture is what I'm really buying it for though.
Effing awesome! 🤘🏼
The clean tone was so great
I just wanted something from neural that would do the drive, amp and cab… and an fx loop so I could use my own pedals
They should have called it the Nono Cortex.
No, no, noo, no kissing todaay...
Little Big Cortex.
Big trouble in little cortex. Leave Jack Burton alone!
that's gotta be the cleanest metal recording studio on earth, look how clean those red socks are, i always wear at least combat boots in my studio, or my black socks would be all stained blacker , and i'd probably hurt my foot stepping on cords or random shit floating around my floor
🤘😈🤘🔥🔥🔥
I think this I will buy. It will be a great live setup
Eh. Sure. I’m happy with my little orange micro dark and rat pedal. Stuff like this is way more than I need.
Micro Dark + RAT kills! That's more my speed too
I was waiting for this video 🤘🏻
pretty badass and compact
ToneX for the win I guess.
Nice demo!!!!
@@javiervv9095 yeah no delay, no capture out of the box no octave effect, bigger unit, a reverb that doesn’t sound good.
Just sold my tonex for this unit cause for what I use it it’s better on every way
It sounds kick ass
Why does it have 2 outputs if it's single signal chain? Is it the same signal on both? Can u record DI on one and the processed sound on the other? Can u turn off IR on one and not on the other?
Loads of questions 😊
Correct..
1 it's stereo 2 yes you can 3 nope
For about $/£100 less you can get the Ampero Stomp that has a touch screen, 1 extra button and it sounds just as good.
And has built-in amps lol. What is Neural thinking with this product.
As a owner of the Ampero Stomp, I was really stocked with the NanoCortex, but seeing how limited it is I'll be sticking with Hotone for now lol
They're thinking they have the Cortex Cloud @@bassyey
Yeah, I have the Ampero and there's no reason I would switch to this more expensive producct that is way more limited.
lol dude not even close in sound iam sorry
I like how you can control stuff with your phone
549€ for a modeller Pedal :o holy moly
Looks like the sweep picking is coming along!
Your prayers have been answered!!!!
Great times for guitarists...THANK YOU!
That sounds awesome
Awesome video!
It has some nice tones :O
All cool, but I bought a Harley Benton DNAfx GiT Core for 89 euros. Sounds as good. PC or OTG compatibility. 200 presets or add your own. I saved enough to buy a very nice tube head. To each his own. Oh yeah, I think I heard the band name Haunted thrown in.😂
Nothing can beat the line 6 pod go with how amazing it sounds even with factories presets and just plug in and play. Especially the build quality, id argue its built way nicer that QCN
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not.
The PODgo isnt at all close in quality in regards to the build and quality of components. PODgo is intentionally designed to be budget friendly which is why it’s stripped down and made of lessor quality components
The pod go is literally plastic
@@allstopblue5717
The top is stamped steel, similar to the Helix LT and HX Effects. The pedal is aluminum, and the bottom is molded thermoplastic.

I really think they misread the room on this one. This could have been a great piece of kit but it needs 3 things in my opinion. 1) be able to set the signal chain like you want and just let you know when you don't have enough dsp.
2) midi for patch changes
3) more than 2 seamless patch changes.
This could have been great for bands that automate everything so they can do fly gigs no problem but this is too limiting.
It does have midi for patch changes (and more, uses trs cable though) and it does have 4 seamless patch changes (2 per footswitch). The signal path is fixed though.
Most bands use 1 or 2 tones to begin with. And there is midi patch changing I’ll probably be using that for pitch shifting more than anything and maybe to cleans
The Harley benton let's you change the chain.
@@kevinwlyons_music_production 🤣🤣🤣
I see it being useful to a touring musician like Ola but most bedroom players probably don't need it 😅. You can have more sounds and more capabilities with less or equal costs with another setup. And sound as good or better 🤔
7:14 aaahhhh!!!
5 string S by Solar's!
Cant wait for another company to make this product with similar (if not better features) for more then half the price🤣🤣
Thats literally what im hopping for. Maybe line6? Or tonex releases a new tonex with more fx?
So they made a budget friendly option, strictly for professional live musicians?
That's what i can't figure out 😊
It didn't need to be an amp capture device at all. Just let us load it with existing captures, IRs, and NDSP plugins and this thing would have been a monster for the price. Instead it's an accessory for people who already own capture worthy amps and a Quad.
@monkehm Exactly. Even without any of the plugin stuff, just a capture loading device for a little less money would've been better for the average consumer.
They are trying to position themselves as the premium option at each price point. The Quad Cortex is about 2x the price of the Helix, and this is about 2x the price of the Pod Express and similar products.
Looks like the only thing to do with this, is to go to my local shop to try all the expensive amps I don't own and "Capture" them 😂
As much as i like the functionality of app based amps and pedals. You basically leave them with an off switch, for whenever they decide to not support it and update apps for newer OS. I'd much rather get a HX stomp
Its like the Pokédex for us, we can finslly catch the amps
TIP TOP
Nice video and very instructive. Thanks Ola. I'm thinking about buying one of this nanocortex. But I would love to see a comparison between the old Mooer PreAmp Live and this one. Because I already own a PreAmp Live and maybe it's gonna be wasting my money. Talking about The Haunted, I wish I could see you guys live again at Madrid. Regards man.
Nice small fly rig
How about a try and review on the quadKotex next time Ola 😊😅
I'll save $549 and just use my amp that I would've captured. It's already captured, I'm looking right at it.
@@medved3027 it's because the cortex is running through an impulse response. If you mic'd your cab and listened in a control room, it would sound the same.
Preferred the fender tone master pro
I'm wondering what the best way is to capture just the preamp of an amp head. Live I always put my pedalboard through the power amp of my ENGL Fireball. I just got the Nano Cortex and so I want to capture just the preamp of the Fireball. I have a Two Notes Captor, but I probably won't need that right? Here's what I was thinking:
Guitar > Nano Cortex input
Nano Cortex Capture Out > Fireball input
Fireball FX Send > Nano Cortex Capture Input
Nano Cortex Output 1L > Fireball FX Return
Fireball speaker out > ENGL cab
Would this work? Hopefully this will capture the Fireball preamp without breaking anything and will allow me to A/B the capture when it's done.
nice! did you manage to get one output to an amp and another with an ir to front of house on the other output?
Nice, but really wished they'd added an effects loop.
It’s a great unit! 🤘
Meanwhile, I’m still cranking through a Boss GT8 🤘
I got the gt6, gig with it too lol
Hey everyone, I’m super new to the Neural world, and for me, the presets in Neural DSP plugins (Petrucci and Mateus) are all I need. Do you know if I can buy this and simply transfer it to the Nano Cortex? That’s all I want 😅
No matter how small it is if you still have to plug it into the socket😅
Being new to the world of modelers, am I right in saying that the Tone x would be the best deal lb for lb?
How did you integrate Nanocortex so that it’s heard almost in real time in the video? I understand there’s some post-processing to align everything, but I’m curious about the sequence. Does it also involve an audio interface? Maybe someone else can explain if Ola doesn’t have time. Thanks!
It’s pretty easy. I have my microphone AND the Nanocortex connected to my audio interface (apogee) and that’s recording both. No post processing or anything other than on my talking microphone! 👏
@ Thank you, Ola. I’ll try something similar. Is the sound (in the video) coming through the studio monitors live (I noticed you’re not wearing headphones) or the recorded one? Any way, great and very informative metal-content. Keep doing:)
For me
Buying the NanoCortex used on Reverb is gonna be the real deal.
give it a month and they'll start showing up 2nd hand!
Please make a Video about the NAM Player from DIMEHEAD ❤
You think this is also good to just use for personal use? With a cab?
"Always go ping pong if you can."
the question is , how can you connect the nano cortex to a poweramp+cab and front of house at the same time, any idea ?
First of all, why there is no direct tone comparison with the same preset on QC big unit?
A Box change the multi effects ,
i am a little older and much worse guitarist than but i still prefer analog stuff, my only escape into digital world are the ir repsonses. i play in small places pubs clubs and i often use for metal, believe or not a 2000's marshall mg15 cdr with impulse response on the line out and it is a good sound, this particular small little marshall is a crushing beast. i have also bigger amps all solid state (marshall chorus 8240 best for me a 8100 but with stereo chorus, an old peavey express 112) but for portability it is top, only mod i've done a ten inch speaker istead of the 8. and beacuse i am old i like the sound of an also old english g12t-75
Not trying to invalidate anyone’s opinions, but my brother travels a ton for work. He’s in town for 4 days the entirety of next month. He doesn’t get to play his analog rig and he has a lot of hotel downtime. We’re interested in this so that he can capture his analog rig and plug it into his macbook pro with his strandberg for a neat travel friendly package. Is there any reason this isn’t the solution he wants?
As someone who also travels a ton for work I purchased one for this exact reason and it’s great!
I travel for work a lot (with a Strandberg also), and I’ve tried all the solutions. For capturing, I would highly recommend the free Tonocracy plugin before spending $500. It uses the same capture technology as NAM, which is making the most accurate captures to date. In addition to capturing, I’ve also owned the Quad Cortex, AxeFx, Friedman IR-X, and at the end of the day my favorite solution is the Nameless X plugin from Neural. It just sounds so good for metal, sounds very natural, and is very easy to sculpt into something that works for me. Everything else was a chore in comparison.
Nano Cortex does not have aux in. Is it possible to switch on the backingtrack via bluetooth connection?
i don't know..im just partial to Kemper.( i have unpowered rack through frfr...now that i can use a harmonizer with the player..im sold. and now with the 4 pre 4 post effects..on the player..no need for outside pedals ( except for 2 extra switches with boss fs6 double switcher.. making it 5 buttons just like Kemper remote i have
hello, can you put your captures in the cloud?
If you use pedals and this thing together, then you can use the big cortex directly. Or am I wrong?
Looks like a nightmare to incorporate into a full live rig / pedal board.
So the 1st part of the demo was directly into you apollo interface?
IMO, line 6 HX stomp does the job and cheaper...with all the effects that are not included in this unit,...overhyped product. if i want another pedal for my pedal board than why buy this?...just my opinion...
I was thinking the same. Love my HX Stomp when I’m traveling on a plane. Fits in my backpack that I carry on the plane…. Can’t wait to see what Line 6 comes up with next.
Exactly!!!
The HX Stomp is $100 more
@@blackmetalbreadstick ,used they maybe found for less and would still be a more complete platform... I just think there throwing everything at us guitar players and the market is getting very saturated and the options are sometimes useless.. there at least 4 to 5 same tier products like this one right now on the market. just my opinion, its still a cool option for those who use the quad cortex platform.
@@blackmetalbreadstick HX Stomp has a touch screen, separate midi and expression outs and two pathway signal chains…..
*OOOLLLAAA!* Spencer Prewitt has left Archspire! 😫😭
im a non gear nerd i have no clue what this is nut i cant afford it ill just keep playing my line 6 spider 2 from 10 years ago with my chinese guitar through bandlab i guess. looks cool though!
I am wondering about the “controller/MIDI” connector and how that works.
it just works. you can switch between exp and midi in the settings and go ahead
Do you do your amp captures without tube poweramp and then use impulse response with tube poweramp?
Why would you put the XLR output on the right side? Totally non-pedaboard friendly.
it's the capture INPUT
it's the capture INPUT
Ok what’s the big difference(s) between this and the ToneX? I’m too lazy to do my own research 🙃
How much there is latency in pitch shifter? They claim not noticable.. is it so?

Ola, on your 2.6 models with the solar pickups, how do they compare to the emgs/fischmans in the 1.6? I have a 1.6A and solar is the only brand ill buy now. Are the solar pickups solid enough to keep up? Im highly impressed with your product. Customer for life my man
@@christopherbenoit1002 Pickups are always a matter of taste, but I tried a Solar with Solar pickups and really liked them a lot. Enough to buy a set from a guy who had replaced them with DiMarzio's. He obviously didn't like them as much.
@@handuke would you rate the tone compared to emgs and fishmans as on par with them?

Bought the Nanocortex because I need a pitchshifter/detuner 😂
So question: If I run a flanger pedal, would I put that after the Nano or before? And could 1 output go to my tube power amp and one to the FOH board?
Nice quality
I hear it's the same as the Tonex One that was captured by phone's mic
Are you sharing your capture from the cloud?
I have the same question. I found his profile on the Cortex Cloud app, but there are no captures. Maybe they are not set to public/share?
