    Hey, Vanessa! I’m watching this for the first time in 2023. I’ve been following you for a long time, and it’s great to see you getting started with your channel all those years ago. I’m going to whip up some of these for myself. I have loads of snaps that I bought for some of your more recent projects, and plenty of towels and flannel, too. Love your videos old and new!

    I'm a basic sewer and your tutorial is so well-spoken with clear instructions that I feel confident that I can make these. We live aboard a sailboat and when I can make things that are sustainable and earth friendly I do. Thanks so much for this!!

    You are such a great teacher! I wanted to make some of these for my house so I can stop buying paper towels. A friend of mine has a "kitchen" laundry basket and I think with the reusable towel idea and a laundry basket only for the kitchen this could be an easy fix.

    Another option is to serge (overlock) the edges. You'll still need to quilt stitch it though but the lay a lot flatter.

  • @TheCraftyGemini
    @TheCraftyGemini  11 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    If you use terry cloth and wash them together the hook part will get all caught up on the terry cloth. You'd have to stick them all shut so the hook isn't exposed for laundering. Hope that helps!

    SO WOKE making this tutorial in 2013! Your directions are straightforward for beginners and your modeling/set-up is very efficient. I'd be comfortable with this even if I were new to sewing. I cracked up at "pretty sides together"! Thank you for sharing!

I used a Costco paper towel as my pattern size, & am going to send them to my daughter to use in her pre-school! No snaps though (: Thank you so much, I'm having a ball showing them off, & am definetly going to make more!

    I have some un-paper towels that were commercially made. They are a single flannel sheet. They do not have snaps and can be rolled around a paper towel roll and they stay really well. I have a paper towel holder and put the towel roll on it and pull them off like I would a real paper towel. I wonder if that would work with your towels. I think they would. Might be a little different because yours are thicker. I'm going to try it. :) Love the tutorial

    Hi Liz! I use KAM snaps too. Make sure you have the proper size thing on the pliers and it takes a little getting used to to center it up. But it's pretty easy and works fine. If it's not getting smooshed enough it won't shut. So, yea.. I usually do it with two hands to get it nice and flat in there. Good luck!

    That snap tool is going in my “never use again” drawer. i will just take the time to stitch Velcro on the corners. i wasted two dozen snaps that were either too loose or squashed and so didn’t snap together. Besides they are plastic so I want to avoid buying that if I can. Otherwise, these turned out great! i always love how you make these tutorials user friendly. :o)

    Be careful with the velcro it can be a sticky mess because the threads of the terry cloth get all caught up in the hook part of it in the wash. Maybe stick them all together when you go to wash them to prevent that. Good luck!
