- Trading your soul for a few credits? Living the full cyberpunk life in a cyberpunk city for 24 hours? A fully immersive neon-lit cyberpunk district was built for the Greylight 2142 larp in Duisburg! And with everyone playing a prewritten person in this live action roleplay experience, from street punk to high tech android, with all the relationships between the characters, it was a perfect recipe for drama.
Greylight 2142 was an absolute cyberpunk experience, and an amazing one at that. When can we go again?

We have nothing quite like this in America, that I know of. The time and artistry that has been put into this blows me away. The lighting.. the tech. The amount of people that have to show up to make this work. Fostering people's character creation before the event begins. The closest things are Otherworld Theatre's Albion and there are a few other wizard school types that go all out with their location, things like Wasteland Weekend and Neotropolis are heavy on immersion but more improvisational, costume requirements but not hard in-game character focus. Last Call Theatre has impressed me with everything they've been able to do but it's less LARP and more mystery solving party, no prep needed. (Nothing wrong with that, love it all!) It's so amazing to see something as in-depth as Greylight actually work. Truly.
It is amazing how much work went into this. I believe they had two weeks of on-site build up before the game started, and don't even want to know how much hours of building things before that. I hope more games will be run like this in the future, it helps so much with immersion. But yup, that does require a really big team to pull it off.

I absolutely did! I'm a very visual person in general so aside from the game being awesome, the set just pushes so many 'ohh coool' buttons 😂
The sneaky go-pro pocket definitely paid off! Maybe next time I should consider going as well, if I can fit it in my schedule.
I'm super happy with how well that gopro worked! And immediately also learned quite a few things to improve even more for a next time 😛
😮😮Wow, the cyberpunk atmosphere in Greylight 2142 is absolutely mesmerizing! Wish we had something like this in Australia-Germany's LARP scene seems unreal. Jealous, but totally captivated by your experience 🤩

As far as I'm aware Greylight isn't hosting an event this year.
Is it a English friendly larp?
Yup! I attended the international run, so everything was fully English spoken and there were people from many different countries.
Though I will have to say it is not a campaign larp and so far no other events have been announced, so fingers crossed if there will be another one.
