    I sometimes use my ETFs to buy dividend and growth stocks for diversification instead of reinvesting in the same place. To each their own methods though. The good thing is that you’re investing in the first place and that’s what’s important. Salute for the content!

      Or better yet, have one.. For several years, I've been in touch with a coach, mostly because I lack the depth of understanding and mental toughness to deal with the ongoing market conditions. You lack the information necessary to succeed in a competitive market, not because you're doing anything wrong, but rather because of your lack of experience.

    Inflation depreciates idle money. I'm in a privileged position to be able to save almost 65% of our net household income, as I placed it on safer investments. The key for us was not spending beyond our means. If you invest and have other sources of income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends. Got north of $520K in my portfolio as I bought a lot of dividend stocks before, I'm buying more now, and I will buy more when it drops further.

      The main problem is that most folks don’t care about anything other than football, Basketball and Music etc. They find it normal to take credit card debt which will cost them 20% per year but considers it risky to invest their money and make 10% or more per month. Learning to avoid high interest debt while also learning how to put your money to work for you by investing is a very powerful combo.

      Starting out with a professional that knows the ropes of the choppy but profitable market is the best way to achieve getting a well structured portfolio. That’s why I have been working with 'MARGARET ANN WARNKEN" because in financial dealings one has to be prudent. Most traders enter and exit with a quick 10% profit which is not bad in general opinion but why not make more of the opportunities presented?.

I remember the most important step in my life when I invested my last income with an experienced Forex trader who was recommended to me by a friend. I have been actively researching for about five weeks into investing for the first time. I have been watching CNBC four hours while working at home and trying to learn all the technical jargon of all those talking heads. It is very educational. It is there that I heard mentioned index funds. But, until I watched your video clip did I really get the full picture. I just finished watching a video of Warner Buttfet talking about index funds and he said something very telling: "Grow with America,
    the USA has again and again outperformed all countries technologically and economically, and I believe will continue doing so for decades to come".... I think I will go with that and tomorrow call Vanguard to invest in the VFIAX and the VTSAX. Thanks for your info!..I hit the like button and now I'm a subscriber.

    Few additional notes: VTI vs VTSAX. With VTSAX bought directly from Vanguard, there's no bid/asked spread because as a normal no-load no transaction fee index fund, it doesn't trade on the exchange. So by hair splitting, that may matter more than the .01% expense ratio difference. If you had a VTI, you will pay for the spread every time including reinvestment of dividend even if you used a zero commission broker because it is trading on the exchange. Many funds now are involved in security lending which is a scheme to loan your stocks contained in the fund to short sellers temporarily. The revenue generated from that lending activity is sometimes not returned at all to the fund itself but in the case of Vanguard, 100% of the revenue generated from that lending fee is returned to the fund and no, that doesn't show up in the expense ratio figure. This might be bigger than the difference between 0.04% expense ratio and 0%. Since Vanguard Index fund and ETF shares are the same exact fund with different share class, the index fund can benefit from ETF's tax efficiency of creation units being traded from authorized participants purging low cost basis shares which in turn reduces the odds of capital gains distribution. That last one is important enough that in a taxable account, I would not recommend non-Vanguard Index fund over others like Fidelity FZROX. If it is in a retirement fund, it might be closer to a wash because of the security lending revenue sharing but time will tell. For HSA, Vanguard doesn't offer a free personal HSA like Fidelity so I'd pick Fidelity. But for most other cases, I'd pick Vanguard even if it looked like a wash because their history in driving costs down while other companies are profit driven.

On a $100k account held for 1 year, you would get $1,680 from schwab, but only $1,100 from fidelity. These of course fluctuate with the market YOY but the average on SWPPX is higher. Also it was incepted in 1997 vs FNILX inception in 2018

      There's no one right or wrong answer. You could lump sum it all at once, or you could dollar cost average into it over time. It's just up to you how you want to deploy your funds. As for what fund, I would just go with an S&P 500 index fund.

      You can put $20,000 into S&P 500 and put the $30K into three different index funds, if you want. I will not do that though. I will put the remaining $30k into small and mid cap funds - that is what is called proper diversification. Putting all the $50k into three different index funds is not proper diversification, in my opinion. However, the choice is yours. Please do what will make you happy.

    Nice rundown on index funds. Personally, I'm invested at Vanguard - I started a couple of years before Fidelity started offering their free index funds and I don't have so much money compounded that I feel the need to switch over. I like the fact that Vanguard is structured the way it is and there's also the possibility that one day Fidelity will decide that offering free index funds is a business model that no longer works and go back to charging a minimal fee to administer them (which negates the point of switching in the first place). If I wanna save the extra couple hundred dollars, I'll find somewhere else to cut - like making iced coffee at home, perhaps?

    Great video. For a long time, I have been watching the Fidelity zero expense ratio funds versus Vanguard. The dividends given by the Fidelity zero expense funds are less than VTI and VXUS. The higher dividends on VTI and VXUS will more than pay off the expense ratio. I feel VTI and VXUS have higher returns at the end of the day. It would be great if you could do a video on comparing the returns of popular index mutual funds or ETFs taking into account both the expense ratio and dividends. I love your TH-cam channel!

    Hi there. I did an extensive amount of research on these index funds and although I agree these are great mutual funds, I would have to disagree with the rankings here. Vanguard mutual funds VTSAX and VFIAX still hold the edge in my opinion. The reason I say this is that their dividend distributions are quarterly as opposed to semi-annual or annual distributions by fidelity. It's arguable to say that the no fees in fidelity will sort of off set this, but re-investing those quarterly dividends is a bigger win imo. After all, the fees are very nominal anyways. The strong history of low index funds that Vanguard has proven, is still unmatched. VTSAX also has proven to be slightly more tax-efficient over the years on an average as opposed to it's counterparts from Fidelity. This is something to consider if using a taxable account.

    • @ronyeahright9536
      @ronyeahright9536 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      very good point about the schedule of dividends. Makes sense tho; I knew there had to be a catch to "zero" net expense ratio's. If fidelity is holding onto the dividend distributions for an entire year, then they get the interest float on that money and the investment power of that money, where as Vanguard as you say is giving that power to the customer on a quarterly basis.

    • @stocksxbondage
