I'm catching up late y'all but hearing about wiki stix I got my first ones out of the toy section of Target, but after that I realized I could home make them. They are basically strips of yarn dipped in melted paraffin wax, like that is the wax used in canning and sometimes candy making. You just melt it like you would in a double boiler (the canning wax in a smaller pan on top of water that is boiling in a slightly bigger saucepan).
So you get any colors you want of yarn, and cut the lengths as long or short as you want. You can make a lot more, for less than the pre made wiki stix brand costs. I used them a lot before I learned braille, to make picture clues and handwriting clues on frozen food containers and canned goods, or anything with a hard surface.
They are also just fun for art. I used to stick them on the refrigerator, and white boards.
I like to get bright colors, but you know what there might actually also be glow in the dark yarn by now. 🧶

I'm a 45 legally blind female. This topic hits home, hearing from real people who are doing what you enjoy. Unfortunately, I've given up.

Hi nicki. Please never give up! There is always hope, and tomorrow is always another day. Know that you are not the only one out there and we all go through times that we feel discouraged, but we need to keep going and never give up. ♥

Hey guys. Thanks, I enjoyed the conversation. :-) I have RP and little more than light perception at this point. I am a stay at home dad of an 11-month-old boy. Carrie, I found your channel one day when I was doing a search for TalkBack gestures, but I really enjoy your crossover videos like this. I even went down a blind mom hacks rabbit hole one day on Cindy's channel and really found it helpful.

This sounds so cool! But I'm afraid of doing this and making a big mess and just not getting it right. lol. I think I'm just going to get me some wikki stix and try it anyway. Lol. Wish you could make me some and send it!

I missed the live but I'm so glad I can re-watch it here! I have retinitis pigmentosa and am looking forward to having children with my partner, sometime in the future. Every single concern expressed in this live is exactly what I worry about! It's really reaffirming to hear you guys talk about this. Thank you so much for sharing!!

Hi Kerry hi Leah hi Cindy so the one thing I find ironic in this is as Kerry said when you have a child you know I need you for everything and as a blind person not that you can’t do everything but you are limited to some respect and I find it’s ironic in the sense that in a way the child is going through something similar to what you as a person are going through a blindness you can’t do everything because of the blindness and you’re posting pasta with the stairs just learning

@@SeeingBlind well I know you guys because I’m watching the live stream later and the one thing that really worries me is one day I want to be a dad and I’m going to have children and with Barry to be the syndrome I want to know that when my kids have the same autism as me and the same blindness as me and also appeared to be the Centrum and I didn’t realise this but there might be a possibility that I might not be able to conceive and that also worries me but ultimately I know that there is things start when I become a father that I want to honour and One trying to say is I want to raise my kids in a better world and in a world where they can be who they want to be

I would argue if you were educating them Sunday because we have a change over here where this is when I was in school and there is a play called Jacko and in the play one of the teachers when he calls the kids into school he is teaching them about politics so last person is the Taoiseach second house person is the tarnished and so forth but the point being he was using education but not being you know not teaching the education you know he was using the education book combining it with a fun like combining it into a fun activity so you were basically taking songs and making them into a fun activity but educational at the same time

Yes, that is such a great way to teach and a great way for the kids to learn!
