    For those of you having issues setting up the swell delay you need to have your MIX set to 100%, your rise time set to match your delay time IE: for a 400ms delay set the rise time to be .40 and space out your attacks and avoid attacking your notes and chords too hard! This is a gated effect that sort of works like an envelope filter. If you attack to aggressively and quickly it won't work as well. Finally, update the firmware to rev 1.43 as we improved the swell triggering in that version.

      Better question: What needs to be selected clicking "Value" could you walk people through those options

      Care to elaborate on the differences between the timeline swell and the bigsky swell (yeah one reverb and one delay, but take us in depth!)

    I was just hearing this video late at night, resting in my bed, and then I listened to the last demo song, was ethereal and so relaxing, very rich and depth ambient to produce comfort. Congrats in doing this guitar Fx.

    After performing a ton of research, ive landed on the timeline, and its enroute to be shipped! I cannot wait to dig into this unit. I love the versatility shown here, but will mainly use it for lead work and atmospheric passages. Thanks for the upload!

    Hey guys! I'm checking all these settings in order to recreate my timeline, but no matter how hard I try I cannot reproduce "make believe" named setting at time about 1:51 , I am applying exact same settings on the device, and also the secondary parameters. Checked all the comments and could not find anything. I am using left in and left out, mono operation. could you help me figuring this out? thx.

    • @strymon
      @strymon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, I think that the RISE time in the video is incorrect for that example. Try setting the RISE time to 1 second instead of 4 and it should sound more accurate.

    beautiful sounds...one question.You made those swells with an expression pedal or not?With the line6 dl4 you could do the swells without it(auto volume echo mode).

  • @Mrmre
    @Mrmre 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey guys, sometimes in this mode (with 100% mix) when I pluck i hear the attack of the strings. Is there a way besides the 100% mix to have EVERYTHING swell without hearing any strings attack...Thanks again

    • @strymon
      @strymon  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      To lose the attack of the Strings, you must have the MIX set to 100%. If you are still hearing the attack of the strings, the manner in which you are playing may be tricking the dynamics detection on the pedal so you would need to adjust your playing to accommodate this behavior.

    I'm having this same problem. It doesn't really "swell" like this, but it creates a repeat based on the tapdiv in the parameters. Strymon, any help you guys can lend why this is happening? I've got the mix+smear all the way up just like the video shows.

  • @Chelc484717
    @Chelc484717 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The swell effect isn't working for me. I have the settings the same with the MIX at 100% but it is giving me the same exact tone as the Duck delay option. I just got it a couple weeks ago. Thoughts?

    • @strymon
      @strymon  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Stephen Strickland The Swell delay works off of your guitar's input dynamics which the pedal detects from the LEFT INPUT on the TimeLine. If you are using the RIGHT INPUT, the Swell effect will not swell without the dynamics being detected from the LEFT INPUT. Check to make sure you are connected to the LEFT INPUT on the pedal and let me know if you continue to have trouble by sending me an email to support@strymon.net.

  • @sterozan7699

    The Volume Pedal style (Wet 100 %) only works in a mono setup, right? I cannot create these type of swell sounds with my stereo setup, even when I use the same parameters which is shown in the beginning of your video. When I switch to my mono setup it works.

    • @sterozan7699
      @sterozan7699 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also need to say that in my stereo setup I connect the Time Line with the FX-Channel from my preamp (VHT GP-3) whether in the mono setup I use the Strymon between Tubescreamer and Amplifier.

    • @strymon
      @strymon  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sterozan The TimeLine detects your input dynamics from the LEFT INPUT of the pedal, so if a signal is only passing through the RIGHT INPUT on the TimeLine, the pedal will not detect your dynamics through that input and the SWELL will not take place. It would sound like a standard reverb.

    • @sterozan7699
      @sterozan7699 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your answer! So I simply plug my guitar cable to the left in, left out goes to the Input stage of the amp and the right in and out goes to the FX Loop? Does make this any sense? :)

    • @SteveAndrews1
      @SteveAndrews1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@strymon THIS DETAIL! The other day, I reconfigured my pedalboard and unintentionally plugged my chain into the right input. In swell mode, my heavenly pad sounds were gone. It sounded like delay with a hard attack. Had me tied up in knots going back over parameters. Hours gone. Thank goodness I didn't resort to doing a factory reset.

    @matthewhonnor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    if I'm using this swell setting can I make a loop of that and then turn the swell off so I can solo over the top? Proper Gilmour style?

    • @strymon
      @strymon  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matt Honnor Yes, with the looper set to POST, you can record your loop with the SWELL delay effect, then, bypass the delay to play on top of this loop without the SWELL effect.

    • @matthewhonnor
      @matthewhonnor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +strymon I see, and how do you bypass the delay without effecting the looper?

    • @strymon
      @strymon  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Matt Honnor You would need to exit looper mode by pressing and holding down the TAP switch for a few seconds. Or, if you have the MultiSwitch controlling the looper, you can just hit the A or B switches on the TimeLine itself to bypass. The last option is using a MIDI controller to control the looper or presets while using the TimeLine's onboard switches to control either as well.

      +nelson serrano If you press and hold down the TAP footswitch for a few seconds, this will put TimeLine into LOOPER mode. While in this mode, the TAP LED is lit red with the green light blinking to the TIME setting of the current preset.

    is there a freeze function on the timeline or is it only available on the big sky and the dig?

    • @strymon

    Do you need a volume pedal for this swell???

    • @strymon
      @strymon  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Del Rei There is no need for an external volume pedal for the SWELL delay to work. It detects your input dynamics from the LEFT INPUT of the TimeLine to create the swell effect on the signal.
