    8. Gone Gone Gone 21:27
    9. Glasgow 25:05
    10. My Desert Home 26:54
    Purdy wrote about the album:
“I’m gonna share this record that I made with you. I honestly don’t know if it’s any good or not. I’m much harder on myself than I used to be. I’m working on that.
I try to be brutally honest in my writing. Sometimes that sings good and sometimes it’s downright hard to hear back. This one is extra vulnerable which is probably why it’s a bit of a rub for me.
I not only wrote but also recorded this record at a particularly dark time, by myself in the middle of the desert. I think you can hear the way I felt in the recordings themselves. Low energy even for me. I’m not actually sure that’s a good thing. Maybe it’s cool. Maybe it’s really not. It is what it is.
There are about 25 other songs I recorded out there that didn’t make this album, only for the reason I thought this collection of songs tells the story in the most economic way without too much distraction or redundancy. There’s only so many sad waltzes people can hear in a row without lessening the effect of all of them. I’ll be redoing some of those on a larger scale, I may release some more of them from these sessions later on as well, I don’t know exactly yet.
For now, I’ve already spoken more about this than I ever have any record I’ve ever made. And that’s probably too much.”

Id buy this in half a heartbeat. Reminds me me of the time I lived 6 months in a tent deep in the Kings Canyon High sierras.

Hi joe I don’t think I could describe how your music has guided me through life from the age of 18 (39 now) when I first heard wash away on lost from that point I was hooked in your music. This message is too short to tell you exactly what I want to say to you about your lyrics and what they have meant to me and still do. Whenever I want someone to understand my meaning of love I play them ‘This town’ and the old man on the front porch who always talking to nobody. I have just had twins and I sing them faketown and how I don’t want them to grow up like in that song. Mary and booby (greatest love story of all time) how the feelings reverse and how material stuff in the end doesn’t get in the way of love. I could go on for hours. If you read this please know that you have effect my life in England and I thank you eternally for your words. I hope this message finds you.

You have written a lot of sad songs.. But that little hidden song at the end, 'My Desert Home' made me tear up. I hope that Charlie lives forever and better days are on the horizon for you.
My husband and I traveled up Cleveland to see you. We had such a good time that we decided to go down to Newport to see you again. Your music and story telling are the absolute best! I hope you enjoy the rest of your tour! Congrats on the album premier, and thanks for all the music!

Great work, Joe. Thank you. If you came out with a glam rock opera after the past couple of years, we'd be much more concerned. Man, that landscape looks like where I live in S. Utah. Stay safe.

Stunning revealing album indeed. Every album can't be pure joy, and this one is intimate and lovely and painful. Thanks Joe, much much needed. Hope your back heals and I've been singing with you about Charlie since Brand New Set of Wings, what a gorgeous relationship.

In the words of my beloved Gramps, "you done the world a good turn." This album is a wonderful thing.
I saw you live for the first time at a Hotel Cafe show at SXSW with so many talented folks. And my buddy & I watched the other musicians at the back of the stage, watching you play. It was like watching proud parents or friends or admirers, witnessing something anticipated coming of age. Every time I listen to your music (and I have it all), I think of that concert and how you've never disappointed on recordings or when I've seen you live.
The only thing I'd ask is that you tour with Brian Wright again, as the banter between the two of you during the set (at a show in West Dallas a few years back) was also absolutely genius.
    Keep up the good work.

It was a treat to see you perform at DPAC last night, I played this album on the way home and found this this morning. Such beautiful music and this film really captures the feeling of when I need to find a mountain to solo hike my way through sadness or heartbreak. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I saw you live recently and of all the sad songs about heartbreak that have landed with me in the past, the line that actually made me tear up at the show was about Charlie in your song Kristine. I went on so many similar road tips just me and my dog Mesa, across the desert and the mountains - the whole country. She was always with me through all that life threw my way. I lost her this fall, I thought I had a few years left with her. I miss her every day. When I heard you play that song I couldn't help but wonder if you still have your Charlie. I know you've mentioned that dog in several songs over the years "I hope you and my old dog ain't mad at me no more". I listened to your new album today, all the way to the end, and when that unexpected line came I was equal parts elated that Charlie is still with you, and crushed by the the reality that your biggest loss is yet to come. And the sense that you realize it too. I love your songs, your music, your spirit. Thank you for sharing
