#10- Catheter removal experience

  • Catheter free right now but dribbling and in some case worse. However getting better and have been able to urinate x2 now. Laying down gives me better control. Pads are great at absorption and comfort. I have combined with Depends' “Real Fit” briefs for maximum protection.
Catheter removal was not comfortable but not painful--taking a deep breath in and then deep breath out while the nurse removed the catheter tube was very helpful.
Some stinging and leaking post removal, but after 1 hour the stinging/burning subsided.

I’m glad you were able to get the the catheter out ! I’m sure the more you heal the incontinence will go away. Continue to heal quickly.

Just got home from getting my cath out. My removal was quite painful and had air in my urine which freaked me out. Just glad you’re in the mend. Thanks

Some people have little issues with a catheter, for me it was miserable.

I found that a Foley catheter is an instrument of torture! Blood loss, pinching pain at end of urethra, ravaged skin on my leg where the Statlock was glued on. If you ever have to go in a catheter again, I highly recommend doing intermittent self-catheterization if possible. 4-6x per day, you slide the cath in, then take it out as soon as you are empty. Hollister and Medline are two large vendors of this catheter type.

How in the heck do you get the catheter in bro? Isn't that difficult? The thought terrifies me! That's why I didn't do any treatment yet cuz I am scared if that happens. Did I get urinary retention.

@@ricknowak4582 It is VERY easy! I am using mainly the Cure HM14C catheter now. It is hydrophilic, so when you bust the water packet inside the catheter wrapper, the water makes the coated shaft very slippery. I don't feel a thing when I slip the catheter into the pee-hole. The only discomfort you might experience, is when BPH or prostate cancer has formed an obstruction in the prostate; in that case, shoving the catheter through the obstruction can be uncomfortable unless you go very slow. First empty your bladder as much as you can on your own, then put the catheter in. If you have retention, the catheter will extract an additional amount of urine from the bladder.

I hate catheters . After I had my prostrate removed the catheter was removed about 2 days later . It’s now 6 months on and Im regaining continence. No more UTIs and I can pee like a stallion .

Thanks for your video, and the information you provided. I am scheduled for a TURP procedure in Sept, . I am bit stressed over the whole thing, but the info you provided about the "Real Fit" and the "Mens guard" will help should I have any incontinence issues. I wish you well on your recovery, and will follow your progress on your TH-cam site. Take care, and all the best, Ray.

Thank you Ray. By now you should be feeling a lot better, especially with the catheter gone. Let me know how it went when you can.

I tried wearing the real fit depends to see how they would feel. If I have prostate surgery. I hated it! Could not wear for more than 15 minutes!

Thank you for sharing! I had a urethroplasty about 2.5 weeks ago and in 4 more days I get my catheter removed. (I actually have a foley and suprapubic right now) This really helps me get mentally prepared. I hope you are doing better. I'd be very interested in how you are doing now if you see this and you don't mind sharing.

Apologies for the tardy reply. Right now I have no issues -- no need for pads, no need for any special underwear. The problem for me now rests with full erection, of which it is still not 100% flag pole quality, though it is ever so slightly getting better, day by day. So, first 2 concerns: cancer and continence were resolved and I am thankful for the doctors at UChicago. However, ED, at least pre-OP quality erections, still are an elusive animal that I have yet to catch. As soon as I can get that back, I will definitely let everyone know. And in terms of your recovery, my prayers are with you brother.

I had a very weak flow after my catheter removal.several hours later my urine stopped completely. Now all I get is a trickle. I don't know what measures to take without going back to that painful catheter.

That's why I am hesitant on doing any treatment. Urinary retention is terrifying. How I would have to self cather.

Just had surgery, how long before continance and sexual activity was back, haven’t watched your other videos yet.

    • @matthewsprostatecancerjour8639
      @matthewsprostatecancerjour8639  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Depends on a lot of factors. For me, continence came back quickly and I actually appreciated that more than sexual activity returning. Constant leaking can really limit you. Don't fret too much your sexual function will return soon enough. Just like any injury, the nerves take time. One hint your function is returning is morning erections, like we all have before any surgery or radiation.

Depends brand seems most comfortable. Problem is the generics might hurt your skin. I would test them out if you are budget conscious and see how they feel.

My experience with having catheters removed twice is that it’s definitely painful. But thankfully for only a few seconds.
