isizinyo thanks for the vid mate next time I'm down in Coffs I'll visit you cause I am from Brisbane and come down often we could collaborate for my new Channel I subscribed to you
What a great catch! This is an excellent example of how to fish and release a prey. I also like the idea of having a rope at stern to tow another kayak. Nice video and very well edited. Congratulations mate!
Go you good thing, well done Tommie! I for one, believe that magnificent fish survived. You went to considerable effort along with Paul to revive it, you deserve credit for your efforts not greenie hate speeches...
That is crazy I fish for bass out of my kayak in the United States and I could imagine catching something that big out of a kayak. Congratulations on your catch great to see than the marlin was revived and swam away.
Wow, Nice job all the way around guys. Coolest video I've seen in a while, and nice rig, level of difficulty on that trip was a 10 and you pulled it off like a pro.. Cheers.
Dude that was amazing, best dishing video I have ever seen! I want to start Kayak fishing. What kayak do you have? What rid and real were you using? Thanks
John Moye thanks for the kind words. It's a Stealth 495. No longer made but the Stealth fisha500 is the new model. That was a Daiwa Saltiga overhead. Contact Dennis at Australian Kayak Specialist's
Freaking awesome. I was on a charter boat, in DR. the freaking rod handle broke, and the drag was completely shot. We fought the Marlin for 45 min. and broke the line due to shotty equipment.
Would it be possible to revive the marlin by pulling and pushing him backwards and forwards? It's like instead of a continuous steam of water through his gills, it becomes gulps of them? I've got a feeling the Marlin merely needed to clear it's system of CO2 and restock on some glucose and would probably be okay with just a tiny bit of assistance.
Yes, that is possible.. You could also use a deck hose on a boat just stick it in it's mouth but that's if you want to keep it out of the water longer for pictures and stuff
Catching a marlin is difficult and a challenge. Much like climbing a mountain or running a marathon in under 3.5hours.Catching a marlin or any big fish from kayak is a challenge. I was holding onto the marlin whilst my mate towing us along so we revive the marlin. Fishy CPR if you wish. It lunged forward as it was get it's strength back and bit me it the process.
+Tommie Strydom Thats what I thought at first too but the stripes are going the wrong way for a bonito and at 0:56 you can see that they have way bigger teeth than a bonito. Unless you're talking about a different bonito than the Atlantic bonito which is what I am familiar with.
In order not to be speared when the Marlin gets to your kayak, you have to fight him to exhaustion, which is deadly to a Marlin. That was one of the most exhausted Marlin's I have seen boat side. You should be ashamed for killing a beautiful game fish for the sake of being noticed. Just because you think he swam away doesn't mean he did. That makes an easy meal for a shark.
Top stuff Tommo! Nothing better then seeing people show respect and care to the amazing animals they catch.
Thanks mate

Yeah, torturing them for fun is the very height of respect. Marlins love it

Most authentic reaction to hooking a marlin I've seen
I grew up at Coffs. Was out in my pops 10” punt off park beach and hooked a marlin on a hand line. 2 mins later it was well and truly gone.

there's a reason it's called a game fish.
because it's a fish caught for sport.
+the fruit hunter lol, he didn't mean to catch it, plus it's an awesome experience catching such a magnificent game fish on a kayak
shark lives matter too you fishist
Sampson Nite you're absolutely right. That stupid action was deadly for the marlin and I've got the feeling the fishermen knew about it....
