You should definitely try one! As Korean, I'm really proud of our hanbok! If you ever get to visit Korea, there are many places that rent them for you to wear and visit the ancient palaces :) They're in Seoul :)Thank you for loving our hanbok!
I really like traditional hanbok style ^^ Before I was even interested in Korean culture I made my characters wear hanboks in some video games because they're so pretty. I have never worn one before, but maybe some day...
I hope CCP netizens stop distorting Korea's history and culture. Before Ming Dynasty, Mongols ruled China. Mongolians liked Goryeo(old Korea) sheep. Goryeo hanbok, which was popular in the Yuan Dynasty, is being insisted on as Ming Dynasty Hanfu these days. I heard that hanfu is the traditional costume of the Han people? But why do they wear hanbok, which was popular among Mongolian royalty and nobles? In fact, I had never even heard the word Hanfu 20 years ago. I am disgusted with the CCP's greedy policy of integrating ethnic minorities. Free tibet! Free Uyghur! Goguryeo kingdom, Taekwondo, Kimchi, Hanbok, Hangeul, Seollal are Korean!
Hanboks are so beautiful! I really like learning about national costumes, they are so pretty and a good introduction to a country's culture. In Norway we wear bunads as a national costume, and most people choose a bunad from the place they come from.
When I was in sixth grade I had a Korean friend named Suh-Yeon Kim but we called her Elena. She played the violin & sometimes she would put on mini performances for the class and she would usually wear hanbok while playing. I always that it made her look like a doll.
If you visit Korea, we have lot of hanbok rental places in Insadong. Insadong is full of ancient traditional houses and buildings that are still kept to this day :) It is also where the Blue House is. Many Korean when they go there, they rent hanbok to wear while they walk around, hang out and etc :) You should try it!
During the early part of the Joseon Dynasty, the kings and queens of Korea wore an exact replica of the Han Chinese Hanfu (漢服) as well. Unfortunately, Hanfu (漢服) died out during the 17th century AD, during the Manchu rule of China, Han Chinese were forced to wear Pao (袍), the Manchu clothing, during the Manchu Qing Dynasty (清朝). But Korea and Japan have preserved the Hanbok and Kimono fairly well.
The female hanbok is SO beautiful. and it looks much more comfortable than both the traditional Chinese and Japanese clothing. But the male one is so unflattering lol.The only one I actually like is the one the king wears. I love the traditional Chinese and Japanese male clothing much better
dear Professor Oh, can you tell me about "idol types" and.. well i'm not slim and not asian, but i wanna get an asian boyfriend~ does ANY korean guys like european, plump girls? (well to ask the right way: does these kind of girls have a chance?)
I love KWOW Wednesdays but I feel like I'm not learning as much about the Korean language like I did in season one. Sorry I don't mean to offend its just my opinion. I love learning about the culture but I miss the grammar filled KWOW.
I have a question! ^_^ I plan on visiting S.Korea soon (taking another gap from college hehe) and I was wondering if it would be difficult for me to eat out in Korea w/out eating pork (for religious reasons)?
I don't know why but your lame sound effects such as the roaster sound or here the party noise maker sound always make me laugh, every single time... I'm so childish... Anyway, thanks again for this very informative video.
Annyeonghaseo. Kiaora Professor Oh. I'm following you to get an inside view of Korea and to listen to the pronunciation of the Korea Language. I prefer to listen for pronunciation to learn a language. Roman or English text is not accurate for pronunciation. And I also love the Korean people and culture. Now I've got to learn to write in Korea. Kamsahamnida. Noho ora mai Professor Oh (be well professor Oh). From Aotearoa New Zealand.
Hi, I want to ask you about a dress with long sleeve (longer than the arms), I saw it on Kim Hyun Joong's Unbreakble MV, there was a girl dancing wearing a white dress with very long sleeves, what is the name of that dress and what is the name of that kind of dancing, please I would really like to know, thanks.
basic sentences/verbs please! like, "We are ____", "I am going ____" "I want ____" . And I know the order of words in korean is different from english (subject, verb, object, etc) ~ its more like the persian i speak actually, so if you could teach those basics so we can form simple sentences that'd be great c: Thank you! ^^
