      It’s not comparable. Historical Chinese garments are usually looser fitted while historical European clothes are tight fitted, and have more complicated patterning

    • @kitb7624
      @kitb7624 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! The looseness is a lot more modest while still having a nice flattering shape and interest details like pleats, embroidery and closures. Also, who doesn’t love a good flowy sleeve? ❤️

      because the reality is most of east asia (japan, korean), as well as south east asia were heavily influenced by china - especially during the Hang dynasty where chinese culture, language, art, music, philosophy, spread throughout asia. but Tang dynasty, the golden era of china is long gone and the positive image has been replaced by a weak china, weak = fallen under exploitation, invasions = poverty = unsavory image and association (and with china's fall, japan connected with the western economy first, followed by taiwan, korea and their economy flourished which translates to better life, and with better standard of living comes other refinement in arts, culture, etc) So i guess we can't really fault them completely as it's human nature to distant oneself from something negative and attaching themselves to what the world deem as positive.... if you are wondering why. this is probably the _underlying_ reason. take language for example: th-cam.com/video/RcR2n8-2m-o/w-d-xo.html (and the list goes on and on, to cuisine, literature, philosophy, buddhism, taoism, Confucianism, traditional clothing, traditional musical instruments..... the list goes on and on. these things spread to other countries and many things people associate with say japan, korea are all at one point influenced by china way back in the days. say japan's zen buddhism stems from china's chan buddhism, japan's shinto stems from china's taoism, ramen, japanese dumplings (gyoza), plethora of musical instruments like various flutes, etc) of course these countries all added their own regional flare to them and made a lot of these things THEIR OWN... but at the same time, a lot of these things did come from china originally. and during china's fall and say japan, korea, taiwan's rise - many of these things that were once influenced by china flourished in these countries - take zen buddhism for example so when you think of these things you associate them with these respective countries and not china. so now if people say XXXX's traditional clothing came from china, or this cuisine came from china - they take offense to it because from their perspective, they have embraced them as a nation and made it their own. which is both true and false at the same time..... but realistically, what the underlying reason why is because of the reason i stated earlier

    • @001mhu
      @001mhu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@래래피 actually if you study every aspect, every detail of traditional korean clothing you will probably find that china's influence on korea's traditional clothing started way before the Yuan Dynasty. there were already a lot of influences taken from the Song Dynasty and Jin Dynasty. But to be honest, I don't really care all that much. China's influence back then, like you said is undeniable.... i have no problem with other nations taking on those influences, adding their own flavor and embracing it as their own. Hell, there's so much similarities, i'm sure even tv producers can sometimes make the mistake if they're not careful.

      from my perspective its because they/Koreans became a stateless people during the 19th and early 20th century, after that they adopted far right ethno-nationalism in fear of becoming stateless again. so any intrusion to perceived 'Korean culture' is met with very harsh backlash.... The situation with the 'dress' is no different than the French and Flemish arguing over who invented fries or the Arabs and Israeli arguing who invented hummus...

    • @adaada4523
      @adaada4523 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@magicwiz8416 This is not an appropriate analogy, ancient Korea, Japan and Vietnam were all influenced by Chinese culture. Both Japan and Vietnam recognized cultural origin and developed their own styles. China also recognized that those cultures belonged to Japan and Vietnam, so there was no quarrel between China, Japan, and Vietnam. , but South Korea is different. Since South Korea became independent from China, it has been revising its own history, trying to describe South Korea as the origin of East Asian culture. They claim that chinese Hanfu originated in South Korea. Anyone who knows the history of East Asia knows that Koreans are lying, South Korea currently advocates that many Chinese and Japanese cultures originated in South Korea, and South Korea regards everything learned from China and Japan as Korean originals, and uses TV dramas as evidence. a few years ago, korea try to Apply Chinese Feng Shui to the World Heritage List,but There is no historical relic to prove it, so it did not succeed. Now the young people in South Korea grew up under the distorted historical education, which is the reason for the current situation.

      Koreans showed more than 2000 years of nipples (records in the Han Dynasty in China).
      The real Korean traditional costumes are pure white (the Korean people have been known as the "White clothes ethnic" since ancient times), and women's clothes are exposed (the Korean people show their nipples to represent the beauty). This reflects the ancient Korean people and thoughts.
      Korea has never been emperor. Peninsula has always been a place where Chinese territory and regime.
      Only Chinese and aristocratic regimes established on the peninsula (Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, Goryeo, Joseon ...). They are Chinese as their parents. They claim to be Han(Chinese) and descendants. Their names and surnames are also Chinese.They wear Chinese official uniforms and noble clothing. Building the Chinese palace. Use Chinese characters and Chinese culture.
      Koreans are indigenous people in the southern end of the peninsula. 99%are illiterate. They are called as slaves (become subordinate civilians). They were wearing pure white (no dyes and technology) and women showing her nipples as beauty. This is the traditional custom of Korean .

      This clothes looks more like a mixed version with Chinese Hanfu and Korean Hanbok. Which means that's not traditional Hanfu. The top, especially around the neck area is one of Korean traditional style since the ancient Korean counties and the rounded curve of the sleeve look more like 15C~20C Hanbok than Hanfu. East Asian countries influenced each other, but Chinese tries to make Korean History and traditional stuffs as theirs for the reason that their culture influenced Koreans. It's very shocking to see how they use the Hanbok in Chinese Dramas and fashion shows and introduce it as if it's their tradition. Thats why Koreans become sensitive about this case. Please don't just say stuffs like 'koreans steals hanfu' unless you know it well. Korean never say hanfu is from Korea, rather Chinese argues hanbok is theirs.

      In the "Ten Instructions" (훈요십조/訓要十條)

      @Josephina Hannafin oh my God the sheer amount of ignorance in your comment is making my blood boil. I can teach you about history for the entire day , yet I doubt this level of ignorance can be overcomed. Go read about history. If you don't like Chinese history just read Japanese history you will realize how China is the cradle for almost all East Asian culture. Please research before commenting.

    Hanfu ia traditional clothes of han people in china. This is hanfu for ming dynasty. Some koreans are jealous of this beautiful clothes and try to claim chinese hanfu is koreans hanbok. It's ridiculous because they are completely different. Beside korea was heavily influenced by china being that korea was trybunal state of china in the past
