While I loved that _Dial of Destiny_ (2023) ended with Indy and Marion's reconciliation, I feel that there is something missing in the ending. The biggest unanswered question of _Dial of Destiny_ (2023) is whether Indy's family legacy would end with him or if he and Marion actually have a grandchild somewhere. My theory is that during the Vietnam War, Mutt may have fathered a child with a lover but neither he nor his parents would know about the kid before his death or disappearance in Vietnam. Indiana and Marion would not learn about the existence of their grandchild until some time after _Dial of Destiny_ (2023). If _Indiana Jones_ does get revisited with Expanded Universe materials such as novels, comic books, or even a streaming miniseries, perhaps Indy and Marion searching for their long-lost grandchild could be a potential storyline. Maybe Helena and Teddy could play a role in finding Indy and Marion's grandchild.

This was not a fitting end to Indiana Jones whatsoever. At least he still ACTED like Indiana Jones in Crystal Skull. He was an older Indy but Indy nonetheless. In this one he was just about as much fun as Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. Grumpy. He didn't want to be on this adventure and Harrison Ford just didn't feel like the true character to me in this movie. Kingdom of the crystal skull was much better than this film. I don't need Harrison Ford to show me that growing old sucks. Instead he should have shown us the growing old doesn't have to be bad. This movie was by far the worst Indiana Jones movie and I'm a huge fan. And I'm sorry but the woman was just insufferable. They shouldve just gotten Short Round to come back for one more adventure. I mean why wouldn't you do that? That would Grab every single Indiana Jones fan. But no, we're going to use an insufferable woman that no one even cares about or wants to see. And this is the ending we get? He goes back in time, gets punched and wakes up in his crappy apartment. Oh and him and Marion reenact the exact same scene from Raiders for nostalgia bait..... That's the ending we get for the legendary story of Indiana Jones? It feels like an ending that was written in about 4 minutes. It's too squeaky clean. Way too clean. It just wasn't good enough.

This is the one thing that just completely ruined this entire film for me. Like it wasn't great by any means aside from this, but as someone who's always loved Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and enjoyed seeing Indy get his happy ending in that, I just hate this creative decsion of killing his son off for no real reason other than it gives Indy something to be sad about for the whole movie. I know they didn't want Shia back but there were other ways they could've done this, like recasting or just keeping him offscreen but saying he and his father have disconnected and maybe end on Indy saying he's going to try to fix his relationship with his son. As it is this whole film is just a depressingly painful swan song where it feels like its only real contribution to the character is ripping away his happy ending for no good reason.

I enjoyed the movie, but this is what I didn't like about the movie. The rest is good or ok, but this lazy writing was so bad

True, but honestly, I blame Kennedy for making it so lazy, but at least there were some moments that showed Indiana Jones glory days, those of his friends, friends, family you name it
Kennedy, the real reason for this fiasco, not everyone, including the actors and actresses and directors, and you could throw in the characters too
      All her fault, not everyone

While the last two Indy movies were okay at best, I find Mutt's character to be killed off in my view refreshing. We are right now, as of 2024, in a Superhero Era where its common to see the Hero(s) live on to see another day. Mutt was a interesting new face, bringing hope that we would see a continuation of the Indy universe. However like how Life is, some of the most interesting, bright, charismatic youth that you want to see grow up and live out their potential sadly die before we can see a final product. It's just a reminder of how cruel life can be, and that not every story will go on to last 100 Chapters and have no grand finale.

Well, I was never a fan of the Crystal Skulls or this. They should've made the Indy movies in the 90's when Harrison was still in his prime a bit. I would've loved to have seen an Indy movie where he and Short Round in Asia again and Indy took on the Tojo Japanese looking for a powerful Asian relic. But the fridge has been nuked.
