  • Here's a quick look at the Cambridge Clarion in NASB. I'm also comparing it with the NASB Pitt Minion and ESV Personal Size Quentel (which has the same size and layout as the NASB PSQ).
    Here are links to the reviews:
    NASB Clarion (I'll add this when it's published)
    NASB Pitt Minion: biblebuyingguide.com/cambridge...
    ESV Personal Size Quentel: biblebuyingguide.com/schuyler-...

    Great review of the Clarion NASB, Randy. While I'm definitely a KJV/NKJV and NIV kind of guy, I also recognize that the NASB is an excellent translation. I love Cambridge Bibles (particularly the Pitt Minion and Cameo), but I've been sitting on the fence post trying to decide whether or not to acquire the Clarion NASB. I think your excellent review has convinced me at last, so I've just ordered it from amazon.com (cheap plug). Normally, I prefer a red letter text and two columns to minimize eye travel while reading, but I think the shorter full column width of the Clarion will work for me. And I like the references at the outer margins of the page rather than located in the center column. Also, as much as I prefer red letter, I think black letter works best in the Clarion. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the publishers of Cambridge Bibles, so I'm sure that their decision to go with black letter in the Clarion was the wisest choice. I'll soon learn whether that's true or not when my Clarion NASB arrives. Thanks again for all your wonderful reviews, Randy.

    I just bought the NASB in the black goatskin edgeline. I was debating between the calfskin and goatskin. I liked the brown and the Holy Bible imprinted on front. But I went with goatskin edgeline for durability . Love your reviews!

    Great review! The PSQ is just a little too small for reading for me. Do you think this one would be easier since it’s single column?

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks! They're really close in readability. The single column does improve readability in the poetic settings, but it might not be enough difference. If the PSQ is too small I think the Clarion would be too.

      I had the same problem. The PSQ was a great size but the font was just too small for me. Most of my Bibles are 10-12 and they work well.

    Hi Randy!
    How would this compare to an Allan PSR? They seem so similar to me with the references flipped, and yet I can’t find a review comparing the two!

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't seen the Allan in person. I'm not sure how they would compare. I have seen the Crossway. I like the thickness of the Crossway better than the Clarion. I'd love to see the Allan.

      Bible Buying Guide on a side note, do you think the regular PSR would be worth rebinding or is the paper quality subpar? I really love the layout and I’m considering having one done.

      @@kennethhagin-sermons It's been a while since I've looked at it and I've left if at the Church, but if I remember right, the paper isn't bad but it's not a high-quality paper. I'll grab it the next chance I get to give you a better answer.

    I am looking for a new NASB bible. Readability is most important as I am older and my eyesight is not good. When I look at these I see many are from Zonderman and many from Lockman. Which is better generally speaking?

    Do you think the clarion pairs well with Pitt minion or is it very similar just larger type/footprint

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does pair well. They have the same references, footnotes, paragraphs, etc. The layout is the only real difference.

    My previous comment is not directed at you Bible Reviewing Guide, this is a great review! I am venting my frustration at how beautifully crafted and proportioned this Bible is but it is corrupted by section headings every page. How is a new believer going to establish their own personal relationship to the word when every Bible is laid out like a textbook? Would your favorite movie still be your favorite movie if someone who has already seen it, gave you a spoiler every 5 minutes? I have to believe these publishers know exactly what they're doing. All the care about is money.

      How would they get more money by using chapter headings? 😂 Its so you can look things up faster.

    I’ve never owned a Clarion. To folks who know me are probably shocked LOL, but I just remedied that with this NASB Brown Calfskin edition arriving tomorrow. I’ll have a review copy of a rebind I’m working on for you. I’d be done if my foil stamping machine I had didn’t die on me. That’s okay I was just blessed with enough money to buy the Rolls Royce of hot foil stamping machines. Lord willing I’ll have your copy out in a few weeks along with Casey Fleets. God bless, in Jesus Name.

    Can someone explain why every modern Bible of good quality has section headers and page summaries? These are NOT the Word of God!! I am reading through the Bible for the first time and I'll say it like this: if the Bible was a movie, it's as if I'm watching the most important movie of my life, directed by GOD, in a theater alone with God, and having somebody poke their head in summarize what is about to happen before it happens.... I believe it is an act of pure EVIL that no major publisher will publish solely the Word of God anymore, without the summaries and headings. I will stick to my hardcover NKJV Pew Bible. It has some of the worst ghosting you've ever seen, but when I read it, I can read it with humility and discovery, without some other man's interpretive summaries breaking up and interrupting THE WORD OF GOD!!!!!

    • @favianee

      I dislike the section headers too. There are several good Reader’s Bibles in different translations you could try out such as the ESV and CSB ones
