Hence why I stopped watching Top Gear and the Grand tour even. I want to see good technical driving and hard laps and quality descriptions. Not flashy cuts.
Would have been nice if they posted the Top Gear test track lap time for the Senna at the end as well for comparison, since they were discussing the difference between them all the way up to that point.
I looked on the wiki and couldn't find a recorded time for the Senna.. but considering the 1:07 that this thing achieved, I'm pretty sure this is faster. 1:07 is godlike swift.
Caparo T1 was the previous record holder and it was 3 seconds faster than that. I cant see the Senna on Top Gear's test track. Grand Tour did it on a different track... so
Chris Harris talked about the difference between a senna and a GT3 car in regard to lap times and handling overall, and a gt3 is WAY superior in both categories despite its significantly worse power:weight-ratio.

considering This Mclaren afterall is a hardcore full blown racer, and the ancient Zonda R did a 1:08.5 when there was less runoff area at the end corners, and that the car didn't have a good launch system like mondern Mclarens' I think the Zonda was very special.
Yep, at the time Zonda R was about 2 seconds quicker than Ferrari FXX and one tenth faster than Aston Martin GT1 class racecar. And that still isn't the fastest iteration of the Zonda, that would be the Revolucion with even more power and downforce. Just goes to show that Horacio Pagani means business. And lastly, let's not forget: naturally aspirated V12 > V8 turbo.
IMO it's not, I mean it's fast for sure, but I would have expected more difference since one it's a racecar without rules and the other it's a supercar which you can use to buy groceries

To say the road car 720 is faster in a straight line is true but to put this into perspective, Chris Harris put the Senna against the older 12C GT3 car and even though the senna had 800hp vs the 540hp of the GT3 car, the senna was bested by 6 sec a lap by a car with 260hp less, so I would guess the gap would be closer to 9sec a lap against the 720s.

So I will say this. This car is amazing it’s beautiful, I’ll never be able to afford one but hearing it and seeing it in this way is truly an experience. At the same time it’s like all the other videos of beautiful cars revving and hitting corners(kinda boring). I remember as a kid getting books with cars in them taping them to the walls in my room even the ceiling lol. Just looking up and around with pictures giving all the beautiful angles. My mind wondering how fast and how loud it would be to race or even drive the city in one. I’ve been fortunate to have owned a few “fast” cars none as exotic as this obviously. Not to take away from the current times but there’s something to the imagination of these pieces of art in stills. Ferrari’s Porsche Lamborghini etc. I remember 😌
go back to the still cameras for the stig lap because I can't actually tell how fast the car is ripping through the corners with all these moving cameras
I love that this car revives the old McLaren exhaust note from the P1/12c/650S. Truthfully, the whispy, 4-cylinder like sound that started with the 570S/675LT isn't to my taste. This is a much more guttural bellow. More of this please, McLaren! 👍
Imagine Porsche would do a 918 Tribute time attack car. Their latest greatest engine, updated electric motors and battery. All the lightness and downforce. Still AWD.

With Rimac (Koenigsegg Regera hybrid side) stock in portfolio and the 919 Evo behind tem, Porsche is basically just holding out on us.
I`ve always wondered about modern race steering wheels: If you hit a kerb or have an accident so the front wheels gets whacked,and you have your thumbs in two small holes in the steering wheel. I would think that is a sure fire way to break them both?
Professional racing drivers have ways of preventing a broken hand from the feedback of the steering wheel. Hitting a curb won't cause any damage. But if you're about to have a big impact, they let go of the wheel and let the crash happen. The people who made the racing wheels also thought of how to make them as safe and convenient to use for the person using it so not damaging your hand from force feedback won't be an issue even for crashes.
Fastest time on the actual show is the Caparo T1 (1:10.60), followed by the Ferrari SF90 Stradale (1:11.3)... and this thing just blew them out the water by well over 3 seconds!

So happy they’re finally posting video reviews from speed week, I always thought it was a missed opportunity that they never did, especially after Harris’ end of year videos that he used to make INDEPENDENTLY but it seems they’re putting that right. Got the magazine too but seeing it in motion and the visible response from the reviewer is worth just as much as the words on a page to me 👌🏾

Googled it. This is only beaten by a renault F1 car (Fernando Alonsos), a VW ID.R and a lotus T125. This car is indeed bananas fast.
