It wouldn't be so bad if Creality didn't insist on sticking with the 220x220 build plate dimensions. 250^2 should be the bare minimum for a 'standard' printer size. I have the K1C and just a little bit more build space would really make all the difference. Its just not big enough for a CoreXY printer in 2024
I've been watching your videos lately because I'm interested in getting into 3d printing. As a complete beginner, I appreciate your very approachable style and informative videos. I also love the He-Man t-shirt. Keep up the good work!
It's unfortunate that, with the exception of qidi, most FDM printers really just don't compare to Bambu Labs ones. The A1 slays any bed slinger at its price point, and so does the P1S. It sucks to see brands like Creality trying to compete by going cheap(er)... and I don't mean just in price. 😢 Thank you for all your videos. Your honesty is appreciated.
There is a reason for all of these machines really. Bambu makes amazing machines, but Creality remains the largest brand and still outsells all other brands, so this machine is very much welcomed by their customers. Thank you for the kind words and sharing!
I would love to see your comparison with the Flashforge AD5M and the K1 SE, I've been printing with the AD5M for a couple months now and other than 1 nozzle failure I really like the performance of the skeletonized core xy machines for petg printing and would love to hear your opinions.
The frame is also designed to take panels if people later want add them. OR for people that want to mod or get easier accesibilty for mobility issues when they want as CoreXY printer (heard a few people that want to sell there enclose printer because they could not get inside easily in a wheel chair ). Offering this option is not a bad idea.
I started with Ender's ..and did most of the modified (Linea rails, Direct-drive & Klipper etc) options over the years, and prob reason I have a soft spot for Creality (also have their Falcon2 and Halot) and then needed (actually wanted) a larger bed and so went to SV07+ (Price, specifically cheaper freight drove this direction) and now SV08, which has resulted in the SV07+ and Ender's just gathering dust ..I would be keen to see a head-2-head video with this K1 SE or K2 max versions and the SV08 (if Creality is listening) - enjoy your channel, and get a lot of great info and insights out of it!
Another good video from Mr Moses. I have both fully enclosed and open style CoreXY 3d printers. What I've noticed is the enclosed keeps the bed and mechanical parts far cleaner and the machines are more reliable. The open printers are constantly needing cleaning from failed prints which cost me money and time. The effect on a small print farm is showing me a big difference and it's just something to consider. The small savings might not be worth it at all.
Thank you. And you are right, dust and debris can be a huge problem depending on the environment and enclosed machines are a great choice for workshops. Thank you for the comment!
For an enclosure I just placed my Ender 3 in an old stereo cabinet I’ve had around for years. It sticks out of the back a little, so I just added 1x2 strips along the back side. Fits flush against the wall and actually keeps the heat in well enough for my current needs
Interesting, I had some issues with bed adhesion on my P1S when printing a full bed of prints (minis, multipart prints, etc). I fixed it by turning off my the aux fan and saving the filament profile. I haven't had a failed print because of bad adhesion since then. I still have the door on my P1S and didn't even think about removing it, since I print in both PETG and PLA. The biggest issue I've had is the noise with the Core XY and the enclosure, it's an echo chamber. I have to wear ear plugs to sleep at night because the sound echos in my kitchen down to the bottom floor where my bedroom is.
I have had an enclosed printer in the past and they are a pain when an issue arises when you have to get inside the box to fix something this I prefer a bed slinger. I only use PLA so a bed slinger is the way to go for me. I currently have a Bambu Lab A1 and an Anycubic Vyper
I am a beginer at 3d printing and want to start 3d printing business, can i consider buying a bambulab's a1 instead of it's other core xy printers in terms of print quality and speed? (is there any major difference to spend extra bucks on higher level bambu's printer to give a start to a business or a1 combo is enough to get started?)
You are a beginner at 3D printing, you should most definitely not be starting a 3d printing business. Do it for a few months first to a year and then even try.
Im super new to 3D printing and even tho i don't really have an interest in the products, your videos are super educational, mainly because your explain why. And i also like that your setup is super cozy and your editing is minimal and on point! love from sweden
Thanks for all of these reviews. I would be interested in the print quality of PLA with the K1SE and the K1C fully closed. I like an enclosure to filter the fumes, even for PLA better safe than sorry. but if I have to open the doors during printing PLA with a K1C or P1S the whole filtering function is gone.
It's probably worth mentioning that 99.9% of people will be printing just with PLA. "Toxic" sends many people running the other direction, which is why I also do not have a resin printer.
and you think melting plastic doesn't give off bad fumes. any of them will. I can't even say that PLA and Petg are less harmful then others since we don't have 100 yrs or more of knowledge of what it does to us, this is only recent in the past 10 yrs that it started taking off, it will take a long time to get real data. Yes we know that abs is bad but that doesn't mean the others don't just take longer to cause health issues. I don't disagree just look at the fact we don't have the long term picture
Particulates from 3D printers are just as bad as the fumes if not worse. PLA is no exception-it’s still not healthy. An enclosed printer actively vented outside is going to be the gold standard for those that care about plastic toxicity.
Edit: i found the video where you talk about it, thank you for making that. You mentioned you experienced ASA poisoning, have you made a video about this that I can watch? I print with ASA often and it worries me. I'm not always in the room and have proper air extraction in the room but it's not directly hooked up to the printers. What symptoms did you experience?
awesome info. Question: I am building my own enclosure for my creality 3v ke, is this something you would go along with???? just checking. love your content. your awesome
As a first time printer user, I am just as interested in the first time software experience. I.e. which software suite is easier for a first time user.
I'd like a comparison video with the K1 and K1C as well as some other brands. For me, I'm considering a Core XY for my next machine vs my current Ender.
I started learning 3D printing with ABS, on an UP2 for which it is the recommended filament. I do have a couple of rolls of ABS and tried it on other newer machines but at this stage I can see little point of wanting to print in ABS for anything I do.
Hi. Great video, very helpful for me. Quick question, if K1SE has the same unicorn nozzle like K1C or different, like in K1. This also I think makes the different and i didn't notice nozzle topic in the comparison.
There are a lot of people that are trying to decide which of those two machines to buy. Our A1 vs P1P video is extremely popular, so this comparison video would make a lot of sense.
Are the K1SE, K1C, and other related models open source to run "pure" klipper with any slicer? I noticed that the K1 uses three drive screws on the Z axis (though might not have 3 motors). I wonder if it could be converted to have 3 point bed leveling like the Voron Trident?
I've got a K1C and the bed leveling/auto Z-offset is really good, especially with KAMP. And yeah, they're really easy to root/install the regular Klipper with full touchscreen support, KAMP as mentioned, monitor remotely via Orca Slicer etc.
I'm currently tossing up between an Ender 3 V3 and a Flashforge AD5M, and the K1 SE just happens to appear right when I'm testing out the two other printers. I like the current Creality experience with remote management and how it all just works, but I want an affordable CoreXY. The AD5M is a good printer... but dear lord, their software is just... ugh. Plus, getting that 30mm of build height back would be pretty nice. I think I'm the target market for this.
When I was looking at printers the K1 Max was one of the top contenders due to bigger bed size. But a few other smaller performance items and options led me to the X1C. The normal K1 series with the 220 bed size was just a bit to small for my needs. As for enclosure or no enclosure, I say it's to compete with the P1P and print farms to recover some of the sales lost to Bambu Labs. However, I wouldn't doubt Creality comes out with an enclosure kit for it for those who thought to save some cash in the beginning then deciding when trying out the temperature sensitive material deciding they now need them. Over course at a higher total cost then just getting the enclosed to begin with.
Probably will be a good choice for a lot of people. Sorry you don't have a Max,,, I love my Max, great prints, like the larger size for some prints also. And yes the lidar and self setup works pretty darn good! Thanks for sharing with us!!! Oh, yeah, I'm waiting for their multi-material system!
I think you might just have "sealed the deal" for me I exclusively print in PETG and I'm looking to upgrade my little print-farm, I currently have the K1 and I'm extremely happy with it Now that I'm looking to buy another one, I can't find any good used ones in my local market, so I'm eying the K1 SE brand new
I guess I'm in the small crowd, as usual , I print with petg, basically I had some stuff warp in the sun the first month of printing and that was it, went to petg and never looked back. and I use other stuff like tpu, abs and nylon, but 95% petg. For me I would recommend an enclosure for both health reasons and the options of being able to print abs, nylon etc.
Lets be real. Small time printfarms are going to be buying this up. Its not gonna be available for the average consumer because it will be sold out lol.
Actually when printing PLA or PETG the enclosure might even be a problem. You usually get better results with PLA with the enclosure doors open or removed. I wonder if Creality will offer the enclosure panels as an upgrade for the K1SE for buyers that later change their minds about the enclosure. Or perhaps a third party will offer a panel kit.
Does creality k1c gives the best print quality in comparison with bambulab a1 series or a1 is still unbeatable? (Asking because creality is an open source in my budget, which i can use with 12 channel ERCF kit for multicolor printing to start my 3d printing business) And bambu is a proprietary locked down firmware which does'nt allows tinkering to use such open source alternatives for multi materials
I promise you will have headaches if you try and tinker your way into multi-color. Start with Bambu, and you will have the best user experience that exists… also, ignore all of that “locked down” nonsense. It won’t help you are your business be successful in 3D printing.
I always point people towards enclosed because of safety and piece of mind. Really though, its not necessary for the printer but it helps keep pets, children and foreign objects out of the print area.
I really want to replace my Ender 5 Plus with something that runs Klipper and has multi-colour/multi-material support out of the box, but Creality doesn't seem to want to release another relatively affordable printer with a build volume that at least matches it. The K1 family (and especially the SE) are decently priced, and are good printers, but the build volume is just too small. My basic Ender 3 has the exact same build volume The K2 Plus is close enough in size (50mm less on Z, but the same 350mm on X and Y), and has an AMS/MMU-type device, but is also over $2000 CAD. The Sovol SV08 is looking like the best option currently (especially when considering price), but that doesn't have multi-colour/material support out of the box I guess I'll just have to either wait for a sale on the K2 (which as of this comment isn't even released yet as far as I can tell), or see if the rumoured first-party multi-material system for the SV08 ever happens. Either that, or start looking into doing the Mercury One.1 conversion on the Ender 5 Plus (which honestly, I'm too lazy to do anytime soon. Lol. I already have rails on it, and it's running Klipper, but I don't feel like doing more to it for now)
That so called carbon filter on the K1 series exhaust likely doesn’t do a thing to air quality. On the contrary, it sends fumes out into the room. Turn that fan off and tape that hole shut is your best option. Even better would be adding a recirculating filter like Stealthmax or Nevermore.
@@LoyalMoses the cells are like half full of carbon pellets. Air will travel the path of least resistance, brushing by them slightly. I would be surprised if they remove more than 5% VOC.
I print pla-cf in my k1c with the door closed and the rear fan on, mostly because my apartment is kept really cool. No quality issues to be seen. You are losing a lot with this printer. No camera, no model fan. Also is its print quality based off a k1 with all its vfa issues or is it more of a k1c style quality? Lots more questions before this one can be considered as a budget core xy option
I have a K1. The origional AND second generation hot ends were both a POS and jammed all the time requiring a tedious cleanout each time. I ended up stopping uising it and bought a Bambu A1 mini. Love that little guy. Then about a month ago, Creality released a redesigned 3rd generation hot end and new heat sink which I assume this viariant probably comes with as standard. Similar to or a copy of the MicroSwiss but for half the price. Now it finally prints like a champ and has yet to jam or need a new print head after 10 kg of filiment through it. Finally happy. I only print PLA and if i were to jump in now, this would be a great system. Im not afraid of a different filament, but simply havent had the need. I purely print objects for miniature war games. Now for my next purchase, I want an affordable system that does large format. In the range of 300 to 350 square minimum. Too bad the new K2 comes with a lot of crap Ill never use like a heater and filiment changer to name a few. This junk simply priced me out. If they sell a stripped down variant of the K2 along the lines of the K1 se, I'd possibly be interested if the price point is agressive. Until then, I'm waiting to see if Bambu releases something like this first.
How many people skip abs/asa just because they don't have an enclosed printer? Sure, most of what I print is PLA, but probably 20% is ASA, and maybe 15% is TPU. I've tried PETG, but it's a bit too hygroscopic for me to put up with when I can use PLA or ASA without drying the filament.
I really don’t understand where this is positioned in the lineup, at this point Creality is just making more printers to hit all price ranges and consumer targets. With discounts the k1 and k1c are very close to this in price ranges. For PLA & PETG they have amazing core XZ such as the new Enders and the A1s proved that for PLA and PETG they work.
It's like I said in a previous video...Creality hasn't learned their lesson. "They don't die, they multiply!" By this time next year there'll probably be 20 different printers on sale all named starting with K1.
They shouldn’t “die”, they’ve brought more people into 3D printing than all other companies combined. It’s good to see them changing and creating better machines, improving support and user experience. It’s good for all of us, even those who don’t use them.
So couple of thoughts. a. This finally ends all reasons for buy an ender unless you are on a super tight budget. Plus all other bed slingers with a comparable bed size unless you need ams functionality. This is faster and more accurate. b. Unless you add mods to secure the door and/or top cover, leaving it open is a recipe for disaster. Just ask Uncle Jesse. c. You cant talk about creality without calling out their horrifically bad software. The mobile app in particular needs to be set on fire and whoever wrote needs to publicly apologize for their utter incompetence.
Just compare it to. The K1C then from there people can compare k1c to other printers to make it much more easier for you, maybe make a makeahify enclosure then compare It to k1c comparimg temp sensitive filaments
@@LoyalMoses oh and I saw when comparing the Hotend Material is PA+30%GF, another difference from the K1 and K1C im not sure if you can show the difference or if the performance is better.
In all honesty, I don't see a world where anyone would buy a Creality printer over a QiDi or Bambu Lab. if someone can give me a reason then I'd love to hear it, but imo these Creality printers are simply not good buys unless you get an insane deal that put its under everything in the category.
They are the industry’s most well known brand, and sell more printers than anyone. And there are definitely good reasons for that, so I can totally see why people buy them and enjoy them. Just like every industry from tools to trucks, 3D printers are no different, everyone has their likes and dislikes.
@@LoyalMoses True, I guess I'm just looking at the printers themselves, but from everything I've seen QiDi also has better customer service and parts availability. And of course Bambu Lab is also the gold standard there. I just can't see recommending a Creality other than just because they have been here for a while.
@jasonwiltjer9 cause they have the better deal over bambulabs, i spent 713€ for my k1 max and it ran flawlessy after some sligth tweaking instead of 1200+
Thanks! I don’t think of any of these as knock offs, this is the current and common style of 3D printer, so it is normal to see a lot that look or are shaped similarly. Basically, the anti-Bambu crowd uses the same attacks, they claim Bambu ripped off their too. I’m just here to enjoy it all! 😊
@@LoyalMoses btw if its not too much work, can you try if the panels of the K1C fit the K1 SE, so if it fits people can use the K1C panel as a base to 3d model an enclosure for the SE or maybe get K1C parts for thr SE because when I asked when creality was live they said that they will not provide a separate enclosure kit for the K1 SE.
It wont be a big deal to design a printer where the side panels, top, door is removable easily and quickly. In fact that's how they should habe designed on the first place.
Noting all the differences would be cool. It's not just lidless and doorless. There's: 🟢no side fan 🟢no rear exhaust fan 🟢filament tube no longer in the chain (comes from above now/ less binding) 🟢chain itself is gone and how it attaches to the print head is different 🟢has the new style bed like the K1C 🟢has the newest nozzle style like the K1C For it to be ONLY $40 less than the standard K1 is pretty disappointing though for how much less you get
They haven’t fix the horrible camera feature you watch it print for a few seconds then it stops. They need to work on there phone app. All they did with this is taken the door and panels off lol nothing special I’d rather spend a few extra bucks then have a printer that looks like parts are missing
I don’t really subscribe to the whole clone concept. It’s a CoreXY, and it is just smart business to have a competitive machine at every price point and architecture. I’d rather see this, than nothing.

This vs p1 open as well for comparison indeed. Ty LM!
Heck yes! And thank you!
Cool video I decided to buy a p1s because of you video
Congrats! I hope you are enjoying it!
That's cool! It feels strange, but PLA is the majority, then PETG, then ABS/ASA, etc
Lets be real. Small time printfarms are going to be buying this up. Its not gonna be available for the average consumer because it will be sold out lol.
It’s possible. The P1P is hugely popular for farms, so I imagine this will be the same.
I do wonder if they’ll offer an upgrade enclosure kit.
You can get Perspex cut to size for the sides for less than £30 delivery.
Thanks for sharing that tip!
Does creality k1c gives the best print quality in comparison with bambulab a1 series or a1 is still unbeatable?
(Asking because creality is an open source in my budget, which i can use with 12 channel ERCF kit for multicolor printing to start my 3d printing business)
And bambu is a proprietary locked down firmware which does'nt allows tinkering to use such open source alternatives for multi materials
I promise you will have headaches if you try and tinker your way into multi-color. Start with Bambu, and you will have the best user experience that exists… also, ignore all of that “locked down” nonsense. It won’t help you are your business be successful in 3D printing.
Please make a comparison on the bamboo lab A1 and the creality under 3 1-S PRO, PLEASEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😢
I like it mostly because it does have that dark door on it. I wish enclosures came with a clear door. I wish it had a 235x235 build area though.
Just that little bit of build volume makes a big difference.
It’s a shame they removed the side fan though. That was part of the high speed.. but it’s a great idea for budget people
I always point people towards enclosed because of safety and piece of mind. Really though, its not necessary for the printer but it helps keep pets, children and foreign objects out of the print area.
Very true!
My basic Ender 3 has the exact same build volume
The K2 Plus is close enough in size (50mm less on Z, but the same 350mm on X and Y), and has an AMS/MMU-type device, but is also over $2000 CAD. The Sovol SV08 is looking like the best option currently (especially when considering price), but that doesn't have multi-colour/material support out of the box
I guess I'll just have to either wait for a sale on the K2 (which as of this comment isn't even released yet as far as I can tell), or see if the rumoured first-party multi-material system for the SV08 ever happens. Either that, or start looking into doing the Mercury One.1 conversion on the Ender 5 Plus (which honestly, I'm too lazy to do anytime soon. Lol. I already have rails on it, and it's running Klipper, but I don't feel like doing more to it for now)
Hopefully the K2 ships soon! A lot of people are waiting for it. Thank you for the post, I appreciate it and enjoyed reading it.
Very informative But out of my price range for now. Saving my pennies Bambu Lab new printer Thank you for video
Which Bambu do you like the best?!
That so called carbon filter on the K1 series exhaust likely doesn’t do a thing to air quality. On the contrary, it sends fumes out into the room. Turn that fan off and tape that hole shut is your best option. Even better would be adding a recirculating filter like Stealthmax or Nevermore.
They do help, only slightly.
@@LoyalMoses the cells are like half full of carbon pellets. Air will travel the path of least resistance, brushing by them slightly.
I would be surprised if they remove more than 5% VOC.
smart move from creality same price as a ender3 v3 but a core xy ! nice video
Thank you!
K1C is the base. It’s a really good machine.
A lot of people waiting too! Thank you for sharing!
Lots of PLA print farms use the cheapest CoreXY which is the P1P so at the price range this is a pretty competitive offer.
Definitely and super smart!
I want to see it up against the Bambu Labs A1.
We can do that. A popular comparison is the A1 vs P1P, so this would be similar and we can do that!
I was just looking at this one, never been this early to a relevant video lol
You are first to comment! Nice!
Definitely, most people just skip those filaments!
Please compare it aginst the k1 and p1p!!!!!
I sure hope they are making more products to hit different price points.
We can definitely do that!
@@LoyalMoses oh and I saw when comparing the Hotend Material is PA+30%GF, another difference from the K1 and K1C im not sure if you can show the difference or if the performance is better.
Have they fixed the Aliexpress-ness of the app?
Not sure what that means.
@jasonwiltjer9 cause they have the better deal over bambulabs, i spent 713€ for my k1 max and it ran flawlessy after some sligth tweaking instead of 1200+
Hmmmmmm something tells me there is more Bambulab knock offs hmmm 🤨
Anyway great video! My p1s is nearly here!
@@LoyalMoses Okay! thanks! (My ams came today still no p1s tho..)
My p1s came today!!!!
When i buy this making an enclosure is the first thing ill either make or Get 😂😂
😆🔥🔥🔥
@@LoyalMoses btw if its not too much work, can you try if the panels of the K1C fit the K1 SE, so if it fits people can use the K1C panel as a base to 3d model an enclosure for the SE or maybe get K1C parts for thr SE because when I asked when creality was live they said that they will not provide a separate enclosure kit for the K1 SE.
This or SK1?
Oooh! That’s tough!
@LoyalMoses 🤔
It wont be a big deal to design a printer where the side panels, top, door is removable easily and quickly. In fact that's how they should habe designed on the first place.
Creality K1 SE vs P1P
Noting all the differences would be cool.
It's not just lidless and doorless.
There's:
🟢no side fan
🟢no rear exhaust fan
🟢filament tube no longer in the chain (comes from above now/ less binding)
🟢chain itself is gone and how it attaches to the print head is different
🟢has the new style bed like the K1C
🟢has the newest nozzle style like the K1C
For it to be ONLY $40 less than the standard K1 is pretty disappointing though for how much less you get
They can read the website too!
Well there's that too lol
K1 SE vs P1P
We can do that!
Build plate is so small.
This is mid-sized at the moment, helmet class start at 300mm
Just too many options! I guess that's good for us though.
I know!
It's hard for me to consider Creality when I feel that Bambu is so much better.
Bambu makes such good machines don’t they?!
@@LoyalMoses Lamborghini vs Toyota Yaris.
They haven’t fix the horrible camera feature you watch it print for a few seconds then it stops. They need to work on there phone app. All they did with this is taken the door and panels off lol nothing special I’d rather spend a few extra bucks then have a printer that looks like parts are missing
That’s what these are, stripped down versions of the enclosed ones.
Another Bambu Lab clone!
I don’t really subscribe to the whole clone concept. It’s a CoreXY, and it is just smart business to have a competitive machine at every price point and architecture.
I’d rather see this, than nothing.
