In this video tutorial I paint the Holy icon Of Jesus. I paint after an Icon in the Hilandari Monastery of Mount Athos. Its a beautiful icon in the empire style of Constantinople and its much different than the cretan style of painting. I explain the process step by step and try to address all the issues that a begginer iconographer might have.

Im learning a lot looking at you working! I love your technique. I would like to know the terms you use for the underpainting... I guess they are greek words but it would be lovely to have them in writing so I won't forget.... Also the one for the first expressive lines in brown. THANKS for sharing
