Seems I went from being a small boy with a .22, sitting on an oak flat with my Dad hunting squirrels, to a grown man helping my 85 yo father set up on a field edges waiting on deer in no time at all. Goes by in the blink of an eye! Cherish every second.

Congratulations to your father on the boar. I passed up a 150 lb bear opening morning. On August 2nd I shot a 200 lb bear at 313 yards. I shoulder pounded him hard. I went across the canyon where I shot and found a big chunk of meat and a lot of blood. I looked for the bear for 2 hours before dark and didn't find another drop of blood or any tracks. Didn't sleep well that night and the next morning my father and I looked for the bear for 3 hours. Didn't find any blood, tracks or the bear. Should have been my 5th bear in the last years. First bear I have ever lost and the 2nd big game animal in my 26 year hunting career. Not going to beat myself up over it, back at it tomorrow evening, Saturday, and Sunday until dark. Best of luck to you Samong this season.

If you ever want to try some local made spice, Michlitch has some fantastic mixes for everything, sausage grinds of all types, jerky, BBQ rubs and dozens of different mixed spices for grilling and cooking all mixed right on sight. Their Himalayan lemon all and Chili Chipotle Lime are bomb on fish. They also have a couple BBQ sauces and hot sauces made local too. One of my favorite places to go, it smells amazing!

Bear is one animal I could never kill. I guess you could compare it to woman and a bunny. I just love their beauty so much and have so much care for them. With that said your title brought me here to lesson my ignorance on bear hunting. The fact that you have so much respect for the harvest is amazing. James, thank you for your comment! I really do appreciate your thoughtfulness and respect. It's certainly not for everyone, and I respect that. Even for me (and many other hunters), killing an animal is never easy regardless of what animal it is. There is always a sense of remorse after the kill and it is only right to pay your respects to the animal for its life. I always give thanks to the good Lord above for allowing me or my family to harvest an animal. Also, properly utilizing the meat that the animal provides is a top priority. That's what I believe is mandatory whenever I take an animal's life whether it is hunting or fishing.

It's cool you get to hunt with your dad, and to him congrats on his bear. I have to try making brats now. The bearded butchers have some good recipies for sure. Interesting toppings choice though, I'm a mustard guy myself. I'll be back in the woods again next week trying to get it done in the Mt Baker area. I'm looking forward to the next video, good teaser.
