    Nice! I wish I could drive a locomotive in weather like this. In the future I will get my own loco. The steaming scenes at the start look amazing especially with the rain tipping down outside.

    How are the cylinder drain cocks--I think that's what they're called--work? Do they open and close automatically, or is there a control for them in the cab or somewhere else?

      ***** It depends on the locomotive John. Some have a manual cab control and others have automatic cylinder cocks. Its really the builders preference. If you watch our "How-To Fire a Steam Locomotive" video in our How-To playlist the locomotive used, #574, has automatic cylinder cocks.

      Cylinder cocks have to be opened and closed manually with usually a lever.

    Hello Steam Channel, love your videos. I asked this question in another video and did not receive a response. I see steam locomotives powered by coal, oil and propane, what are the advantages/disadvantages of each?...

    Are there any videos of these being built?

      tonym1947 There might be a few videos across TH-cam but we currently don't have any posted. Several construction "how-to's" are in the planning stages and we hope to have at least one of the series started early in the spring of 2016.

      Most all of the locomotives this size are I believe. Hand machined anyway.

    mm how much the price?

    • @engineer6325
      @engineer6325 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Dot Moky Annoyingly, theses engines can easily punch into the thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars.

    • @dolothedolphin
      @dolothedolphin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the size. Northerns and Pacifics will be more expensive then a Atlantic or a Mougul
