ELECTRIFYING! Can't help but start to. dance. Roy's playing can raise the dead and the deaf! WOW! and his drummer Billie Lee Lewis is something else; sure looks like James Carvill !
Roy is the Man! Hope he is doing well - been ready to see him again since pre-covid. Haven't heard anything about the drummer since seeing him with Roy at the Tyee Winery several years ago when he said he was battling cancer
First time i saw him in Denmark, he had Jimmy Sanchez on drums and a big black dude on bass. that bass player layed down the bottom like none of the other bass players I've heard him with. Who could that be? Anyway, it was a real fantastic eyeopening evening, so much second lining going on that I was filled for life!
Right up there with Mr. Rory Gallagher, though Rory was a bit more frenetic doing slide solos. But this guy is looking over Rory’s shoulder, coming up fast. And yes I know, Rory isn’t around anymore.
Difficult to compare the two really - totally different styles. Much as I love Rory, I think he'd struggle more playing Rogers' stuff than the other way round when it comes to slide. I've always thought Rogers to be the most dextrous and nimble slide player while Ry Cooder gets it to sing and wail like no other. Rory had the energy and passion that others envied, slide or no slide.
He is truly Amazing. I say he's the best slide guitarist alive and quite possibly the best ever!

I like how he doesn't over saturate with high octave notes.

Cud be Drop D
He uses a lot of Open E, but if I had to guess, this was in Open D.
mostly open but then is the capo...
there is no way to copy this guy..it is one category by himself....
He uses Open D and Open G, in the vids I've seen of him. In this track he's playing in Open D.
