I think the spiritual presences connected to that building are in their own space still in it. I didn`t feel sadness in the open area, but I was surprised to see a couple of burials inside it after it was pulled down. I`m very pleased you appreciate the effort I put into my work - I`m almost there - apart from the accoustical error! lol Thanks for commenting:)
Beautifully done, Chris - another excellent video. Just looking at the pictures and seeing the exterior of the towers on video, you can feel that they have presence. If those walls could talk, eh?...
I never look at t he dates of these shows...WOW..this is from 2010. Is Chris still making videos..... I hope he's well and I send him many blessings. Wonderful man. , lovely shows.
Yes he is still making videos, but is now on Patreon because of the way youTube treated him he left for Patreon, and that stinks some of us love him and we can't afford Patreon.
Hi Chris, I investigated this location some years ago. Although we didnt document much evidence of hauntings, it is certainly a fascinating place with a lot of interesting history. I would recommend anyone to visit this location
I`ve tried the ghost box, but have mixed feelings for their use I`m afraid. The ghost box is effectively a radio on permanent scan and whilst I have read of others who have found them useful, for me I have to say it wasn`t too successful. I`m not knocking these devices, I just found it too `hit or miss` for me. I appreciate you commenting.
I haven`t carried out any visits to non-Christian sites persae, but if I go to any site run by English Heritage or the National Trust with staff manning the gates they refuse to allow me to enter if they know I have a video camera. So now I make a point of filming any site run by the above:) The custodians of British history seem to want to keep potential tourists from abroad from knowing about our sites:) Yes, this country is crazy! Thanks for commenting.
You should get down for a visit. At night the towers are lit up like a Christmas tree. A very beautiful building. I was saying earlier, I may sell some spare jackets:) Appreciate your comments!
You are right about the accoustics - damn! lol It is a lesson learnt, but I hope the accoustics didn`t ruin your enjoyment of the video. It is such a beautiful site that I decided to put a lot more extra effort into the visualisation. Appreciate you commenting:)
When they tore down the old building it was just under 100 years old then, so I didn`t think they appreciated it as much as we would today. But even so the towers were saved, and partly due to the fact they were designed by Robert Adam. Thanks for commenting:)
Hi Evy, Yes it is sad that only the towers remain, but in it`s present role, it creates a symbolic landmark. I would have loved to have seen it in it`s entirety, but unfortunately history has run a different course.
Beautiful and interesting story and towers...did you say what they were used for? Were they confessional areas or offices? Maybe they were used for spiritual counseling, and perhaps they had a second floor at one time? Thank you for all your hard work on these videos. MM
Hi Jon, This place is more `energetic` inside the towers, and of course getting in there at night would be next to impossible. It`s certainly a real jewel of a place, but sadly by a noisy road junction:)
I don`t think the outside would be very active as the building is lit up at night, but inside the towers would be another thing. Thanks for commenting:)
Long time ago i lived in Manningtree, and went in Mistley Towers. This 40 years ago. I remember though the Ten Commandments written up on the walls (in blue and gold?) If you cross the road, and walk with an eye to the grass, you will spota rectangular piece of grass, greener than the rest, under it is said to be the grave of the Witch Finder General. My family lived in a regency house in Colchester Road called Bumblebee Hall, tha rail from Harwich to Liverpool Street ran by the house, and we had a seqoiua redwood in the garden. We moved because much of the garden got compulsory purchased by the council for building on. I take it you know about the Manningtree ox, which is mentioned in Shakespeare.
+Lucia Tilyard You mean in the grass in the area of the war memorial, right? Heard that one for sure, tough try as we might, we just couldn't see it! Wisdom said the WFG was actually buried under Hopping Bridge, a couple of hundred metres down the road. Interesting stuff though - although I may come across as a "cynic", I always felt the place was in some way "special", for sure. Lived there for 20 years, 68 till 88 or thereabouts- Saw a few weird things myself over the years which I kept "schtumm" about for fear of ridicule .... but I digress! My main beef about Mistley was the seemingly inherent hero-worship of the local "do-gooder families", all multimillionaires naturally, but whose members we rarely saw ..... I shall mention no names but Google is your friend!
Matt Hopkins I lived there from about '66 for about ten years! The bit of green grass was not as far up as the war memorial, it was about half way from where the river started at the end of the town, going towards the memorial. The place on the other side of the river was privately owned back then, and I think they must've had a game keeper or something. they used to tie dead birds along the fence line, which was horrible, I spose it was to keep other birds away. I'm curious as to who the millionaires were, Ma Thatcher had worked for I.C.I., across the river, I think before we lived there. I think everybody knew about the supposedly 'secret' bunker, even back then. Mistley Towers were beautiful, do you remember a pub further on? I think it was called the Swan, and had a stone swan in a decorative pond, outside the front, the pub was set back a bit, that little area had a fascination for me, I think there was a brewers or something nearby, and you could smell the yeast on the air.
I try my best! lol. That`s always the difficult part of any investigation actually getting any decent evidence, but I hope the location and my input made up for the rest:)
Hi MM, The towers would have been used as a vestry for the priest, but any other purpose isn`t known, so it`s entirely possible you are right there. Such a tragedy the classical section is missing, but today the towers are iconic of Adam`s achievements - unlike Richard Rigby who has largely disappeared from history. I appreciate very much your support for my work:)
I love it, exept for the acoustics in the towers. I suspect you used the cameras microphone, a wireless on you would have fixed it, I think, but right me if I´m wrong... Oh, now I´m so into technics & techniques, have to stop that. Anyway, love the clip, always professionally done!
Hi Chris. Another nice vid. Thanks. Just as a matter of interest, have you ever attempted to access any shall we say 'non christian' sites and have you experienced any objections or opposition?
The old tower stood neglected & overgrown in the woods with many legends attached to it, like the princess who was locked in the tower for 20 years for being unfaithful to her prince & died there. The tower seemed to beckon me as the sun's rays illuminated it. Approaching it I noticed that the lock on the door had been broken much to my delight. I opened the metal door which creaked loudly. Entering inside it was dark & smelt of dampness . The tower's stone spiral staircase lay behind another small wooden door opposite the entrance. I switched on my torch & pointed it upwards to the roof, the stairs led to the pointed roof & viewpoint within a chimney like passageway which was very narrow & cobwebs hung everywhere. Opening the door to the stairs I felt some foreboding of the unknown. The stone steps spiralled round & round with the narrow passageway, walking up them for what seemed ages I looked at my watch regularly as 10 minutes turned to 20 then 30 but still no end to them leading to the roof door. I felt exhausted but continued upwards then looked at my watch again & couldn't believe it, I had been walking up for over an hour with no end in sight, this is ridiculous I thought & started to panic so made my way back down. Walking down & down endlessly with no sign of the exit door as several hours past, fear set in as I found myself a prisoner on an eternal spiral staircase with no end either up or down as hunger, thirst, tiredness set in then darkness as the batteries in the torch went. A female voice could be heard faintly towards the roof, wherever that was. Maybe the ghost of the princess who haunted the tower but then it faded like the light. The Tower Steps. written by Andrew Williams on the 13/5/18/.
Nice, though i think its sad they torn down the building in the middle. Perhaps it would be more haunted if it was still there, but we will never know :)
my personal suggestion (though you might not have sufficient funding) would be to invest in a "Ghost Box" for a scarily accurate capture of EVPs. im sure you know what they are but just in case you don't, they are small electronic devices which pulse through radio stations rapidly and a spirit talking to you will cause the radio flutter to arrange the many voices into a audible sentence, freaks the crap out of me when i hear my own name being spoken to me, it definitely cant be a coincidence.
I try to do my best to answer - Greetings to Croatia btw, I will probably visit your country later in the year. It`s a beautiful place. I hope you`ve rated this video!!!! lol

Cool intro, with the bw footage switching into colour!
Dramatic effect enhanced by the music, good work there!

I would love to return by night - but you know how it goes. Thanks for commenting.
At about 11:00, you state you have strange feelings. You walk toward the wall, then turn & walk away, a shadow appears behind you briefly.
Glad you enjoyed that - I wanted to show between black and white to colour the link between past and present:)
I`m pleased you enjoyed these effects.
Thanks Sue:) Hopefully more are on the way soon. Appreciate your comment.
