India has to take advantage of this opportunity like Malaysia has been doing recently as they are getting alot of investments lately.

India has got so many genius and clever people in the electronic industries. they could develop and produce own semiconductors for huge domestic markets.
but actually cutting edge technologies don't have big markets at this stage. the most consumable area is the military for the advanced weapons. and if Indian semiconductors could be applied to the army needs, they would be successfully supplying them.
but in the future, for the age of 5, 6 G if India could be ready for that, it will be able to compete with global suppliers.

India was colonised from 1800's to 1947. In this window the Industrial revolution happened. The foundation technological boom, ecoystem, industries etc was all conceptualized and laid in this time period.
      Guess what Indians were doing?
Our industries were destroyed physically. Our skills ended when people were forced to pick up agriculture because of heavy duties on Indian manufactured goods. We were forced into famines and killed.
      We miss the bus.
Since you talked about times before colonisation.
Why did British came to India in first place and stayed for 200 years if they were not getting huge benifits?
We invented Zero. We invented the Hindu numerals.
Cataract and plastic surgery was invented by Acharya sushrurta whose idol is placed in a Australian medical University.
Acharya Pingala invented the concept of Binary numbers.
India's share was 25% of the world GDP. Only india knew how to make Lead from Ore.
We missed the bus that's sad. Its been 75 years since we got independence. We are always stopped by West to progress on our own.
You say we can't do anything without West Blue print..since we missed that opportunity we are trying to catch up with things already discovered to save time and money. However, India became a Nuclear state without US/EU.
On the contrary they tried their best to stall our progress and they were successful in doing so for decades until India did a secret mission.
So, devil lies in the details. US is only helping because it wants to counter China here. Otherwise US refuses to share any technological breakthrough

Was anyone else making advance computer at that time?
NO. then why are you bringing this up and singling out India ?
As I said before British we were at top of that era. That's why they were able to loot us.
If you only believe what Western people say then go search for "BBC documentary on Nalanda University" which was one of the first ever university in the world where people from all over the world came to study Medicine, surgery and Astronomy. Its books were translated in Arabic language. That's why we were able to give the world Hindu Numerals, the Zero. However you would ignore these facts as they are against your narrative that you chose to believe in. I have explained how India was torn to pieces physically and economically after British left so I don't know what you mean by your snappy tone here.
We have had bigger problems to deal with until now. Like providing food shelter to exteremly poor people and bring them into middle income category. We are recovering right now. Things will gradually change. I can see them changing already

It's good that India is growing in this field, but it's also important that we also own the IP rights of those chips/microprocessors and aren't just designing chips for the already established chip brands, that's why it's important to establish and promote and priorities our own chip making brands.
We have some original chip designing firms which we need to support so they can grow and fund their own R&D and improve further and can invest in the machineries to manufacture it themselves.
