I’ve played pro soccer in the EU for Aston Villa and Ajax. Isagi isn’t a striker. He makes the perfect central midfielder. But he lacks footwork, a strong kick, and he can’t make his own shot. A midfielder can see the field, make the plays to either side of the field, and you don’t need your footwork as much, if you play central mid. But at his size, I was a pro keeper, I would have never let Isagi touch the ball. He needs to be set up, but a keeper will take the ball out of the air. He isn’t big enough to beat me and I would be a part of his “signals” that he can’t take account for. Notice he never cares about the keeper? You can’t touch the keeper, and I would leave the goal and take every ball out of the air. At Villa I had a 11 foot vertical. You think there would be a way to get him a direct shot if I’m taking up 11 feet of space?
I see the point you're making but Isagi currently has a strong enough kick and the ability to to create his own goals which he proved multiple times. He's also been improving drastically on all his previous shortcomings such as dribbling, balance or shooting versatility. Maybe you played on a level that makes him not look as threatening to you, but the author is actively trying to tell us that he represents a threat equal to kaiser/barou as striker.
@ ok, if it was legitimate HS soccer, he wouldn’t be a starter. He entered Blue Lock without the ability to dribble. If you can’t get the first touch and keep the ball with a dribble, what are you doing? You aren’t a striker, you aren’t a midfielder. And he has a shot radius of like 5 feet. Great, but he is easily the most replaceable player on the team. I mean I’ve seen great players and terrible players. Isagi might have made it to Blue Lock, but he is NOT good enough to play on any team. They made fun of him for being incapable of doing anything on his own, and it’s true. I wouldn’t want a striker that doesn’t have a good first touch, isn’t able to shoot it from the top of the box, isn’t able to put the ball on his foot and dribble around a defender, isn’t able to make any moves on his own without being carried by his team. Tbh, if he wants to be a striker, you need some basic abilities, and I’ve seen enough of Isagi to know that he has no abilities of his own. I mean he is slow. So no breakaway goals. He isn’t very strong. So defenders will abuse him. He has no header, which is important. He has no first touch on a ball that isn’t going right into the goal. To be a striker you need to do it on your own, and that means the ball “sticks” to your foot. A proper defender would abuse Isagi the entire game. And what is Isagi doing on corners? Is he taking free kicks? No, he requires another striker to play up front with him in order to play, and that means simply that every team he plays with has to play a X-X-2. A lot of clubs don’t want to play 2 strikers, but if you want to play with Isagi, you are forced to play 2 strikers no matter what. I don’t care if he “learns”. He is playing with guys who are far better than he is. The sole reason he exists is bc he is the MC. If he was a side character, he wouldn’t make it out of the 2nd cuts.
Isagi is an incredible player and he very much can dribble and can take regular shots. The problem is that you're comparing him to the other guys that specialise in those specific skills. We've seen isagi dribbling well and shooting well even without his direct shot
@ he is completely incapable of dribbling around a player. That isn’t a skill you need in blue lock. That is a basic soccer skill. I’m not talking about Bachira, I’m talking about getting the ball at your feet and being capable of keeping the ball as others attempt to get to it.
Watch pippo Inzaghi highlights. I’d say isagi is similar to him and he’s a real professional who played in an era where football physicality and technical skill was high compared to today. And he won 2 UCLs. By your standards, he shouldn’t have been a starter or even make professional level.
