Taking 12v from your battery and going to 120v AC through your inverter back down to whatever-low-voltage DC your handheld vacuum charger uses is a super inefficient way to charge it up and requires you to leave your inverter on. Using a simple car charger or DC buck/boost converter would be a much better way of accomplishing the same thing
The battery lasts a long time on the vacuum and we don’t keep our inverter on all the time. It won’t pull power without us actually turning on the inverter so we aren’t worried about that at all 👍🏻 we have lots of things that run 12 volt in our van 😊
@@SaraandAlexJames that's fair, if you keep it docked and it gets a few juice-ups everytime you turn on your inverter for other purposes. I just know that alot of other van lifers overlook this sort of thing with their vacuums, electric toothbrushes, laptops, tablets, phones, cameras, drones, and other small appliances/electronics... all of which add up. Most if not all of these use 5v, 12v, or 19v DC power so it's best to eliminate inefficiencies where possible/practical. Great video otherwise!
@@chrisjones5382 oh we know! Our clients often think the van can power everything. There are definitely limitations to what you can do in a van with electrical and plumbing needs. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Learned the hard way to avoid breakable dishes, thanks for the recommendations. My must-have item to take with me is my HomeFi hotspot, it's been so helpful for working remotely and it can fit in my pocket!
Great video thanks. I’m currently building a van in the UK, for family life, but I’m really struggling to find a bench seat that converts to a bed similar to what I see in a lot of your builds. What seat is it you use and do you know of anything in the uk that is similar? Thanks and keep up the good work!
Just found your channel. Thank you for this. At last a decent suggestion on cupboard and draw latches. Can you do a video on switching your van to full electric; that’s cooking and heating water for showers, washing, etc.
