That '89 Park Plaza Hotel is quite interesting. Mike Monroe jammed Heartbreak Hotel with them. Besides the 10 minute clip on YT (which is mislabelled as a Cathouse show) there were seconds shown on the BBC doc. 7:11 Kevin nailed it. That i'm familiar with.
Kids today can't wrap their heads around "no internet, web or streaming". When I was a teen, We didn't even know what these bands looked like until their albums came out or on late night Midnight Special.
What do you mean by that? I mean i thought people would go to the gigs or just saw all the band flyers on the walls to see the bands they like when they werent that famous
@@sevgiycl_ Maybe if you lived in a big city. Besides the fliers were hand drawn or printed and copied on a Xerox machine. Then you had to actually be somewhere it was hanging to see it. We couldn't snap a picture and post it on the internet for the world to see. We had to wait a week for the picture to develop then hope it turned out good enough to show other people. If they were really famous they might be on the front of a magazine. It was just a different world.
He's right, 40 bucks was the average. I bought Guns N Roses live at The Ritz on a double album for $40 in 1989. It was a place called rock hard records. There was another place in Cerritos California that sold bootlegs, they had a painting painted by John Wayne Gacy the serial killer and it always creeped me out shopping there.
Fun to see man! is there a part 2? If you want to know anything about these bootlegs, i have made a website for it to check what is on what. Like the mix-up between Bad boys great noize and Halloween On The Horizon is really funny!
Another awesome collection. Kevin and I must be the same age because we both graduated in 92. I have a bootleg interview from the late 80s on cassette that I found in a local second hand record store and I have the Perkins Palace show on vinyl.
Ah the days of adventuring out and hunting down bootlegs. I used to go down to Bleeker Bob's on Bleeker Street in New York City's greenwich village back in the late eighties and early nineties. I have the Felt Forum '88 show on vinyl that I bought in the late eighties. Bleeker Bob's was a legendary record store on Bleeker Street and I had no idea there was one in Los Angles. I remember the original GnR EP vinyl "Live like a Suicide" hanging on the wall in Bleeker Bob's back then for all to look at in awe. Bleeker Bob's is sadly no longer as it closed in 2013. Incidentally, the process of finding a good GnR bootleg or any good bootleg was one of real pride and accomplishment. You really felt like you had obtained something that was very rare and that nobody really had, and it was something that you could show to your other GnR loving friends. Today it's as easy a click of a button.
So true i'd spend so much on bootlegs and limited edition records. Even if it was a recording of a show or studio cuts i'd already had a copy of i'd still buy it. The 2 at 9:57 white covers i have. From little record shop in Nottingham i would catch a bus to from Leicester every friday back in the late 80s early 90s like Kevin says just find that something nobody else had i just had to have it.
I had 1 friend who was balls deep into The Sex Pistols in the late 80s early 90s he had 100s of bootleg records by them and knew all the places to go and get them so thanks to him i knew where to go to find these gems. Plus i would hide the records in the shop in another section so no one else would find them till the next week if i couldn't afford them hoping they still be there.
miss that record store.. shit..ahhhhh the chic's there...never bought much.......the first girl I truly..loved bought me use your..I'll,.1 n. 2..pray for Shay....50 young g .on d. g.n.r..is .. always..badass...w.b.b.sick..

Is that 10-minute clip the one with the big "X" across the screen?
Btjonny5 Yep. Uploaded by Biff Malibu.
That's the one. I sent an email to that address to ask about purchasing the video and he never replied?
btjonny5 that sucks wish he would just release it
Btjonny5 Yeah bummer. Those few '89 gigs are somewhat special.
Enjoyed this immensely.

Love seeing these. Thanks for sharing
Amanda Mc Carthy you're welcome

Paradise is a legendary club in Boston. Paradiso is a legendary club in Amsterdam. So, kind of a toss-up.
That Park Plaza show was the 3rd anniversary party for RIP magazine.
Troccoli thanks for sharing!
Troccoli with Baz and Metallica?
I love that bootleg collection.

The paradise LP is from a Amsterdam show in Paradise Club (today's paradiso). The green I guess is a reference to the Dutch weed (and weed policy?)
Holy crap, that was a lot of money back in the day.
mike anderson yup
I've got that Donnington bootleg too, one of the few vinyls I've actually kept.
This guy rules, he is the king of Gn R vinyl
Omg i want a time machine so badly lol
haha same here

Man there was a time when GnR was untouchable there was noone even close to as cool as they were...then Axl started wearing those spandex shorts.
