matthew Hiner you should get the mob clear grip tape. They recently redid their clear grip and it works just like the black, grippy while still admiring your top ply :)
Full send Ben! I like any bright colored top ply. That 4 deck was fully skated so that probably added to the difference as well. So the difference between a fresh 1 and 4 deck is probably really small, although not necessarily neglible obviously since they do bother to stamp them and you did feel a difference. I'm going to check my boards for stamp marks now. Always learning stuff from big brother Ben!
Many people wouldn't pick up on it but I found it quite noticeable. I think the difference between a 1 or a 2 would be unnoticeable but I always wanted to try a 1 and a 4.

Bro that sound you make right around 6:15 is so relatable. I slipped off a ledge on nose slide and just pressure grinded my shin and calf vertically down the ledge. Had me laying there making that sound asking myself why I punish myself. 😂

Is your 8.06 the Full SE one or the regular one with the long wheelbase? I like both of them but I can't ride Thunders with the long WB one the wheels are too far apart psyches me out. I love them with the SE though.
I have a silver surfer Primitive deck I’m never gonna skate but it’s an 8.38 & it’s so tempting. Feels like the perfect size. I downsized from 8.5 to 8.125 & now I’m riding a 8.25 Thank You & it still feels kind of small, I’m skating some Adidas Tyshawns tho so they’re a bit bulky. I have no idea how you went a half an inch down after all those years, 8.125 used to be my favorite size back when I was like 15 & skating everyday, waaaaay too small now. I even wore my shoes too big back then lol I rly don’t get it. 3 years later hahaha hope you’re still shredding my dude!
@@Heksensang Well you will find it even more funny that I actually went .5 down again, ive been on 7.5's (Rick Howard 1995 reissue boards) and venture 5.0's for a while and having so much fun ,haha! I think at the end of the day if you have a board long enough you will get used to it no matter what size it is, though obviously we have specific preferences and obviously different disciplines sometimes fall in line with different sizes. The only reason I have so much fun on smaller boards is because I basically do nothing but skate flatground and ledges nowadays. I can skate everything else still, but of course if I went to a bowl I would be much more comfortable with a wider board. I've gone thru periods where 8.0 looked like a toothpick but as you can imagine an 8 is like a boat to me now. I skate more bulky too, DC Lynx OG's exclusively for the most part :D Keep killing it out there bro!

You’re rly doing it, I could never, but I respect the heck out of it. Getting tech on the 7.5 is super commendable. I just bought a 8.3 freshie & it’s got a big fat nose & its feeling good so far, super hyped! I’m riding some Thunder Hollow Light 148s with bones bushings, medium up top, hard down low, feels super good! Yeah I’m just tryna get my bag of tricks back up rn but I rly want to get more comfortable on transition & ledges/rails, I’m more of a throw a kick flip down lil stair sets and some tre flips down lil drops/flat ground type of guy tbh. This is the exact video I was looking for I want something with a lot of concave. I love a blue or red top ply btw. I really hate yellow top ply but always end up getting them because I’ve been ordering everything online because it’s cheaper I’ve been getting decks for like 20$ lately.

You gotta have tail and nose stalls on curbs down first. Then ollies to nose/tail stall. Then practice them 90 degrees, approaching in parallel. This way you learn to "aim" and hit the edge/coping. Try to use your feel when aiming, not only your eyes, it's just like hopping on to something with only one foot, the board should just follow. It's a step-by-step thing. If you have each of these down, gradually imcrease speed until you slide. First your slides will be a few inches at most. Bend your knees a little to help your balance.
@@fivehourenergy6159 almost parallel. And you need to "push" a little in the direction you want to slide. Most beginners are afraid to slip out and knock their head but when you bend your knees when sliding you'll always tend to land on your feet.
I got a IV of the ishod twin tail right now, It's pretty flat compared to an 8.25 ishod board I have. I've been loving not having to worry about how I'm throwing down

For me its something about a natural ply that just makes it for me. I like the continuous wood ply through out the whole routed edge. Or only non dyed plies in the middle too. But those qwerks dont help your skating ha

Thunders carve/turn better. Independents tend to wheelie the inner wheels when turning hard, probably because the pivot pin is more slanted, while thunders have a more vertical pivot.

My last Real was an 8.38 Kyle Walker. The one with the dual color bottom ply and the embossed flower and shit on the top ply. It’s marked II, and my current 8.38 is marked III. I don’t notice any difference between the two looking at them, but it did feel like the one marked II was a hair more responsive. Also I have pretty much gone to Thunders all around. Just seems like I’m most consistent on Thunders. I gotta say, idk how you switch sizes so much. Lol I try to stick with the same kind of setup for the long haul. Keep the same trucks until they’re obliterated, and one deck size until I buy new trucks. Lol I’m thinking of moving up to 8.75/151s next though because I’m flipping my board less and sticking to transition the further into my 30s I go.
Oh damn! I’m happier now with my Anti Hero deck. I thought I got #11 on the press stack but if they still keep the Roman numeral system then I got #2 from the stack. Woo Hoo!

Oddly enough orange ply is probably my favorite for the top, flat game was looking impeccable on that real board.

Just started skating again at 48. I have clear grip tape on my Real deck so I could see the orange top ply. Looks good. No bubbles. Used Jessup Grip.
