This would be my perfect setup if I could get my hands on it all the time. What truck's would you put on it? I would go with thunder 148 or 149 standard
I just bought the anti hero 8.38 of this. Tactics says it’s a 14.5 wheelbase and another review of these said the real version had steeper kicks. If that’s the case, I think I may have found my “Goldilocks” board. Super hyped and love the content. That’s for coming back!
I hope the make also a twintail in this concave. Prefer flatter boards, just feels more natural and longer tails also as i like standard thunder&ventures for their feel probably because i am taller but don't like wide boards. Great to see these board being produced ! Thanks Ben you are doing great.
Need to try the 8.5 one. I do love the 8.5 true fit mold decks with the 13.75 wb, so going back on 14.25 will probobly feel a bit heavy in the beginning! I always feelt the concaves can be a bit "sharp" on DLX decks so I always look for the mellower boards. This looks great! Also, that bs 360 on the hip was really nice!!
I love the in depth explanation of the board. The board flips way faster compared to some of your older videos. To me this board would feel like a broken in one but new pop feel. I can't wait to try the 8.5".
Hey Ben, just wanted to share how much I love the Easy Rider anti-hero board shape, especially as a 41-year-old. It makes riding a skateboard so much better. Love that pop and quick board response are game-changers, especially for us older skaters.
You gotta try the new spitfire wheels at that park, a video would be awesome , with the new deck shape you’re working on. And Venture low. I wanna have the same setup you ride
lately ive been redrilling the truck holes on the tail of my 8.25s to make it a 13.75 wb and then i skate the board backwards. (So the og nose is now my tail) idk, i just like more blunt tails for pop & longevity but tapered pointy, flatter noses for kickflips and nose stall stuff. & shorter WBs r preferred on anything above an 8. Also i’ll only do this with logo decks so the board doesnt look upsidedown. Ive been rockin this combo with thunders with riser pads. Yes im aware this is some mad scientist nerdery stuff lol
@@funkydankspliff 14 inch wb 8.25s are hard to find in person. Im redrilling ur standard 14.25. The amount of work is easier than installing rails imo.

Hey Ben! Railside is just nearby where I live. It was awesome to see you there on TH-cam. You should come back out now that its all smooth. Its really fast now. New additions on here as well.
All the specs talk make sense. That spoon thing I believe is what was labelled as 'Full concave' when I was riding the Cliche Europe deck (dwindle). It made nose and tail slides much more promising in length. I've been using 14''wb8.25'' Skatemental with 8.5inch regular Thunders and I like it a lot. So that's what's where I'd integrate this deck into. All the stuff I know how to do - looks better on this kind of setup. Though it is a bit difficult to learn new stuff on such a steep angled deck. Like I always have something mellow and low for learning stuff and then something steep like this for making it look better.
I like the board, especially the fingers of flat and the fact that you can make it symetrical just by sanding it's nose a little bit. It's also quite opposite from what I usually ride (Santa Cruz On Venture v-hollow lows) and I'm about 6.1 foot tall. I'll get that Anti-hero 14.5 and sand down the nose to turn it into twin tail board. I noticed that many pros who ride Thunders or Ventures (Shane, P Rod, Yuto,...) like 14 inch wheelbase but such short wheelbase just makes wheelbase on other trucks much shorter. Primitive, Girl and April boards are mostly coming with 14 inch wheelbase at 8.25. Btw looking forward to his review of Andy Anderson's latest symmetrical board 😂
Congrats Ben I love all the thought that went into every aspect of the shape. I ride an FA which I like a lot but the nose is sooo much steeper than the tail and of course pops totally different as a result. Will def have a look at the Easy Rider shape next go around
Hey bud, just bought the deck as it's available in Europe now :D Got a nice looking purple top ply. Immediately felt comfortable - reminded me of a late 90's deck, without the gnarly Popwar type kicks. Super comfortable. Looking forward to riding it at the park and trying slides on it - the finish seems textured. might help it not stick. Thanks for giving so much of yourself to the skate community - both in time, ideas and everything else.
I just seen this board at my local skateshop and almost bought it cuz i went back down to 8.25 from 8.38. If its there next month ill try it. Awesome that you helped mold it!!
Exactly what SantaCruz is doing with TomAsta at the moment. Shrinking twin tips in 8,25 and 8,50 to 14" wheelbase I always said that the sweetspot is a medium concave on an 8.125-8.25" width with 14" wheelbase 31.45 long
I like a long tail, when I'm skating wheels 54mm and up. I ride ''WKND'' decks a lot, because of the mellow concave/ and dimensions. PS STIX mostly makes those WKND decks, They have short tails, I can only skate them with 52mm wheels and Indy mids. Any other way i set them up I cant skate those decks. So I started looking for longer tails. I'm riding some Venture 6.1s with a Welcome Nora deck 8.7 shaped with a square tail, BBS wood. with some 54mm Bones STF 99a wheels, and those rations are helping for this set up of mine. the wheelbase is 14.5 and I thought the Ventures would make the wheelbase to wide for me, but It feels so nice compared to when I tried to set the same deck up with some Indy 159s. Has to be the Wheelbase being extended compared to when I had the Indy's in making the wheelbase go in.
I'm riding the Bobhy Worrest (Ishod) 8.3 Slick Twin Tail right now and love it. Got it right before I knew your board came out. I've always loved the feel of Anti Hero also, and if you're saying it's the same template as the Ishod, that might just be my next ride 🙌
That 8,25 deck would be nice in 8,125 width. Primitive and Chocolate have similiar shapes in 8,25 width but i dont think anyone makes short wb deck with long nose and tail in 8,125.
Perfect place to test wheels on now you have a board/truck set up on lock. With the controlled area and less ideal surfaces would be valuable content for the community to try all the Filmer and now park/street mixed use wheels flooding the market. Find the ideal wheel for that set up
I prefer twin tail with mellow or not super steep nose and tail. That looks like an ideal shape. Atm ace and thunder are my prefered. Idys do seem not as polished as ace and super squeeky. But need to give venture a true try. Tried for a a small sess and reminded me of thunders.
I can’t wait to try it. My last couple boards have been Chocolate 8.25” Shape G052 and I’ve been loving them. Had a very similar Metal Fred Gall before that. It will be nice to try these out when they drop. Couldn’t find them on Tactics or Skate Warehouse yet.
I use thunder hollow lights 149 with 52mm wheels (down to 48mm sometimes if worn down) but I ride my boards backwards like Ryan Descenzo, so I think I should be fine :)
A lot of it sounds pretty good to me. I like the fuller shapes, the mellower concave and the symmetrically angled nose and tail as well as the longish tail. The width and wheel base are on the smaller size for me. I’ve been riding a pretty mellow 8.5/14.5 Toy Machine lately on V-Hollows and that has felt very nice and dare I say sounds not too unlike this in terms mellowness, fuller shape and a longer tail.
Can’t wait to try the new concaves. Wouldn’t mind that 8.25 with a 14.25 wb, but I think the 14 will be great. For me, a Manderson shape with the mellow concave would be heaven!!!
I’m so stoked you got to work with Deluxe, so rad! I’m very unlikely to switch from my 8.125 Flip Tom Penny cheech and Chong with indie 139s and f4 52mm classics, I prefer to stick to one thing and enjoy it, but maybe one day I can try this shape.
I would like to see a board series that standardizes the measurements for wheelbase; i.e. you select Indy, Thunder, Venture, Ace and you get the mold that makes your wheelbase 14.25 using those trucks. Otherwise, everything else is the same. From a production standpoint, it’s probably more costly, but I think it would allow for more minor tweaks with the setup (height, concave preference).
i feel like you came to this conclusion of a flatter board from skating so many Controled wood decks. iykyk. I always wished they made that shape on better wood. Thx Ben (=
Fun to hear that the anti-hero 8.38 have that shape too, i will go for the 8.25 i think beacause of hips ache and i just cut venture 8.5 to 8.25. I will probably try the Anti-Hero too because i like a 14.5 on indy and even on Venture high cast 5.8. When the kick have nice feel the 360 flip are not that hard on long wheelbase.
Looking to get hold of an easy rider board… I was thinking of pairing this with some Thunder hi lights (or hi hollow lights) 148 - would the extra height potentially address the issue you were getting with Thunders (ghost pop, trouble getting into halfcab crooks)? And would you err towards a lighter or heavier truck for this board? Thanks for all the nerdiness your bring to skateboarding set ups. It’s appreciated.
I wish the 8.5 had the same length and wheelbase as the 8.25. I had to buy new trucks so I could get that sweet 14 inch wheelbase for Ventures. I ride 6.1s on 8.5 and I got 5.8 Kader cast hollows for the 8.25...yeah I'm one of those weirdos that likes my trucks slightly wider than the deck.
Nice vid Ben, with some fun skating at the end. Well done getting that back 3 and nollie big heel(?) at the end. Also dig the board talk. Been watching Tom Asta's recent vids about changing up his board size/set-up too. I keep an 8.0 and 8.25 set-up going (with a sometimes back-up 8.38) but as a shorter old guy I prefer shorter deck length and shorter wb. I have been riding a few Snata Cruz Fabi Delfino shapes (8.25 x 31.6 x14wb) and quite digging those. Also had a Primitive 8.25 x 31.9 x 14wb which went really well too until it got a big soggy after a few months and rainy sessions. Def find longer decks and wb a weird challenge (though also my skating is super ave/low level so there's that too 😂) Anyway, keep up the fun vids and skate equipment breakdowns
Ben have you tried the Silver M Class trucks? those are what I ride after switching from Ventures. They have great stability with the super wide truss, large wings, while having an indy wb. I feel like my board is more reactive and responsive with a shorter wb but isnt squirly. they maintain stability. They are basically mids so they're a good deal shorter than Indys. They have big hangers like indys that make them grind better than Ventures and thunders. They're $50 on Syndrome Distrubution, get then from there that way you get their latest mold. I love em.
went from the 8.5 blue eagle to the 8.25 real. man that tail is no joke. with ventures its not so bad but the first hour of the session was rough. still getting adjusted to moving my foot to where I need it to be vs being on autopilot. I am really enjoying the nose though
@@Chris-no8yb what shape do you normally ride?. I think the ventures would be a little much on the 8.3 unless you wait for those new 8 hole ventures to drop so you can shrink the wheelbase a little. I personally could not get comfortable on the 825 real on ventures with both forged and cast plates and gave up after a few weeks and went back to the 8.5 which to me was a much more normal shape. if you are worried about the width it measures slightly under 8.5 and worked with both 5.8 ventures and 55 aces
@@Esmith5488 Thanks for the reply, i think i’ll stick to 8.5. Did you end up on the 8.5 Real or AntiHero easy rider? i’ve found both and they seem to be the same.
Never seen you @ railside B4. The park is getting a resurfacing 😮🔥. I can't get any good speed and keep flowing in that bowl. Find the radius too large and the surface too rough. I go for that smallest rail and hubba!
in terms of how easy a board pops, when you say a shorter wheelbase makes the easier to pop, should i assume the length of the board stays the same? Cause if thats the case, the tail is obviously now longer. Before watching your videos, all I consider is the length of the tail/nose (ok the steepness/shape as well of course), the wheelbase for me is basically for turning. a 14.25WB with 6.5 Tail is way hard to pop compared with also a 14.25WB with 7.0 Tail. cause in the end, not considering quality of wood and all those other variables, the pop angle is basically everything right? cause all I do is measure distance from ground to front wheels or nose (again i am only talking about pop here, weight and everything stays the same or not regarded).

Can’t wait to try the new concaves. Wouldn’t mind that 8.25 with a 14.25 wb, but I think the 14 will be great. For me, a Manderson shape with the mellow concave would be heaven!!!
For anyone who needs help remembering Ben is Canadian 13:24
Good stuff! I'm 5'7", short legs, and have been on standard Venture lows. Very curious to try out the 8.25.
B16 best shape
I’m so stoked you got to work with Deluxe, so rad! I’m very unlikely to switch from my 8.125 Flip Tom Penny cheech and Chong with indie 139s and f4 52mm classics, I prefer to stick to one thing and enjoy it, but maybe one day I can try this shape.
As someone that loves to ride flatter old school boards this is a board i definitely need to pick up
Excited to try the 8.5 when it hits shops
I hope they would make mellower tail & nose with the true fit molds especially the 8.06 width.
Excited to try this one!
(Hoping they release it with the Degros X Martha Stewart pro Unicorn graphic)
I would like to see a board series that standardizes the measurements for wheelbase; i.e. you select Indy, Thunder, Venture, Ace and you get the mold that makes your wheelbase 14.25 using those trucks. Otherwise, everything else is the same. From a production standpoint, it’s probably more costly, but I think it would allow for more minor tweaks with the setup (height, concave preference).
i feel like you came to this conclusion of a flatter board from skating so many Controled wood decks. iykyk. I always wished they made that shape on better wood. Thx Ben (=
wish they made these in a 8 range. any suggestion on something similar in shape?
Fun to hear that the anti-hero 8.38 have that shape too, i will go for the 8.25 i think beacause of hips ache and i just cut venture 8.5 to 8.25. I will probably try the Anti-Hero too because i like a 14.5 on indy and even on Venture high cast 5.8. When the kick have nice feel the 360 flip are not that hard on long wheelbase.
Dude that is exactly how I feel about concave! Flatter is better. I hope I get a chance to pick one up
Looking to get hold of an easy rider board… I was thinking of pairing this with some Thunder hi lights (or hi hollow lights) 148 - would the extra height potentially address the issue you were getting with Thunders (ghost pop, trouble getting into halfcab crooks)? And would you err towards a lighter or heavier truck for this board?
Thanks for all the nerdiness your bring to skateboarding set ups. It’s appreciated.
I like the feeling underfoot and manageability of flatter boards, but I like the stiffness/rigidity of steeper kicks/concave. I have too many boards.
The deluxe boards I have are IIIs and IVs
@@diplenskiim starting to learn the difference. Just set up a flatter/mellower deck as a cruiser.
I ride a 4 in this. The kicks are not what I would call mellow.
When I get this board, I'm going to throw it on some forged Indy 144s I think. This might be the setup I finally get switch tre on. Fingers crossed!
Where can I purchase this deck? TIA Good video!!
As a 5'3" dude that just skated my first 13" wheelbase board after 7 years of 14's and 14.25's_I don't ever wanna skate anything else!!!!!
For a shorter person at 5'7, I wish the shape was on 8.125 with a 31.7 length. The concave feels like a good change too.
Love when you upload
Thinking of getting the 8.5 paired with 5.8 v-hollows. worth it? or should i go with the 8.25 real/ 8.38 green eagle?
@@Chris-no8yb currently on the real and I had the anti hero and they are both the same.
@@Esmith5488 Thanks a lot
Never seen you @ railside B4.
The park is getting a resurfacing 😮🔥.
I can't get any good speed and keep flowing in that bowl. Find the radius too large and the surface too rough. I go for that smallest rail and hubba!
I never go because it's too rough
So you made the CCS logo deck, but with a quarter inch shorter wheel base so your Venture trucks will skate like Indies.
in terms of how easy a board pops, when you say a shorter wheelbase makes the easier to pop, should i assume the length of the board stays the same? Cause if thats the case, the tail is obviously now longer. Before watching your videos, all I consider is the length of the tail/nose (ok the steepness/shape as well of course), the wheelbase for me is basically for turning. a 14.25WB with 6.5 Tail is way hard to pop compared with also a 14.25WB with 7.0 Tail.
cause in the end, not considering quality of wood and all those other variables, the pop angle is basically everything right? cause all I do is measure distance from ground to front wheels or nose (again i am only talking about pop here, weight and everything stays the same or not regarded).
Would love an 8.125 shape of that concave but with 7” nose and 6.6” tail 😋😋
As always cool to watch
That would be a good park to review the new 93 spitfires at.
It would but it will be smooth soon.
I had a 8.5 baker that a bit flatter and loved it , I tried another baker same size after and the shape had more concave totally threw me off .
can't wait to find one of these
