Handsome knife. K110 is Bohler's D2, and it's meant to be the best of the bunch. There are about 8 different flavors of D2 and I don't have a lot of time for many of them, but K110 with a good heat treat can match S35VN!

Well done d2 can deff match and even surpass well done s35vn no doubt. From the sharpening and testing I have done k110 feels better on the stones that pretty much any other d2 I have felt so I'm assuming the blend is more consistent then other factories d2 ingot. I can say that k110 sharpens up and deburrs better then knives that are D2 using unlabeled d2 ingot. Typically d2 feels very bad and holds on to its burr very badly when its down in the 57-58hrc but k110 sharpens up and deburrs like a quality steels at 56-58hrc and in knives that are taken up to 61ish hrc k110 feels extremely good on the stones, takes a wicked edge and holds it with well done S30V/S35vn. I've also noticed K110 being notably more stain resistant then "D2" and I believe this is simply because Bholer is making its K110/D2 with a very accurate metallurgy vs other ingot D2 not being nearly as precise in its alloy and k110 being a true semi stainless as where a lot of ingot d2 that is in knives and comes from who knows where having largely varying alloying makeups. K110 is a damn fine steel on budget knives and when the heat treat is dialed in well its overall a high preformance low cost steel.

Amazing review. One of the best I've ever seen. You walked that fine line between informative and boring. Sometimes the guys over do it and it turns into a high school science class. I also liked that you're not hyping the knife or your channel. It's nice to see someone who's not trying to get to 1 million subscribers Very refreshing. Thanks..

It's quickly become one of my favorite carries. I have a micarta version, but yeah..the tall contoured scales make the ergos spectacular, and the blade geometry cuts very well. Great knife, budget or not.

This one, really is special. I bought my first one in late August, and it arrived in early September. I am still literally shaking my head in disbelief of just how good this thing is, every day that I pick it up and choose to carry it. I have four of them here now. All now with blasted clips, that match my blasted blades! 😎

My blue micarta Beluga tanto is coming tomorrow! This will be my first D2 steel knife. It seems D2 has been getting a bad rap lately so I’ve avoided it. But I couldn’t resist buying the Beluga tanto in D2 (K110). Im new to knife collecting so I’m still trying to learn and sift through the undeserved “hype” AND the undeserved bashing of certain steels.

D2 isn't as bad as people seem to think. Unfortunately, more often than not it doesn't get heat treated to get it's max performance the steels capable of, but that's pretty much all steel done in a mass production. It's not bad, just not as good as it could be. I have a ton of D2 knives, and never had a problem with it. It's not a premium steel, but it beats most other low cost budget steels like 8CR13MOV or 420, 440A, etc. I'm pretty sure you'll ove the Beluga! I know I love mine, although I didn't get the tanto version.

@@mikeappleget482 btw, I've been collecting a long time, and I have hundreds of knives, so I'd say I know a lot, just not everything lol..anyway, feel free to ask me anything if you have questions. If I don't know the answer, I can probably at least point you in the right direction! I'm always willing to talk about knives and help other knife enthusiasts when I'm able.

Ordered the Brown Micarta with black stone washed blade and hardware. Also ordered the Mini in the Bumblebee yellow G-10 and black…too fun. Literally universal adoration for these. Whale of a deal too. (Sorry.). Nice vid here. Thanks.

Don't buy anything on Petrifyfish made of K110 steel! Totally rusts without being used! I bought the same leg and at 3 months old, it already had a rusted blade and metal parts! Rubbish.

K110 is the equivalent of D2 steel. It's not a stainless steel. So it will rust in humid environments or if you leave food residue on the blade.
EDCI will keep it from getting rust spots.
