Back when a Mercedes could put literal Light-seconds on the odometer between breakdowns… nowadays, you’ll be lucky to get 150-200k miles on a brand-new Mercedes before major problems.
Fun Fact: Mercedes Car Company was named after a Jewish German Business Man’s Daughter. Mercédès Jellinek. An ironic fate would await such a car company named after her.
I knew "Mercedes" was named after the guy's daughter. It just always messed with me that "exotic dancers" existed back then, and that the car was actually named after a stripper. Dude was apparently a horrible father.
Mercedes consists of two companies, who united in 1920s, Daimler and Benz. In 1886 Carl Benz invented first gasoline poweres car, Gottlieb Daimler, a former gunsmith( gunmaker) a kind of gasoline powered vehicle similar to a motorcycle. Both Mannheim and Stuttgart, where this men lived, are currently in same german state, but they didn' t knew each other before inventing their machines.
I noticed a Mercedes W31 G4 in an episode of The Bionic Woman 1976. The Nazi symbol was covered on the front passenger door. I saw a brand new Mercedes with a camouflage paint job recently as if it were a typically painted Spitfire or Hurricane during the Battle of Britain.
I hope it was an error, not an intentional change that this video did not have the movie title in the corner that was source of the clips. I enjoy your videos, but then also reminding me of old and obscure war movies to watch, so I miss having source shown.
@@JohnnyJohnsonEsq Weird - l was watching on a Samsung tablet and nothing was visible. I will try watching on a different device, but normally they are clearly visible wether on TV or tablet. I have watched probably 100 of your videos and always seen the sources before.

@@JohnnyJohnsonEsqFigured it out. Anyway, I enjoy your videos a lot and appreciate both fairly obscure topics and video sources and they have gotten me to watch some interesting obscure (to the US market) movies.
Really good on this and who knows may want to do a video on the S-Mine or Bouncing Betty as another also is said to be revised that can replace the deadly ball bearings with sharp things to make it more deadly as seen in a documentary about it or other topics to look up since there's many out there like MANIPADs such as the SA-7 and Stinger among others in that category and still can be good for AK-47, RPG-7, M-14 rifle and who knows what others like B-52 bomber is another good one and like I already said a lot out there.
I always wonder in alternate history scenarios, where the axis managed to win or at least had a stalemate agreement, how pissed off the officers would be, when Mercedes Benz, and BMW tell them that they can't open the car canopy during parade because they haven't payed the subscription for the folding canopy mechanism.
It's from catch-22. M&M enterprises. There is a movie, a hulu series, and the original novel by Joseph heller. Milo minderbinder is the anthropomorphic stand in for unregulated capitalism.

when mercedes lauched the G 6X6 for australian army, it was said that it's the first 6 wheeled military vehicle since decades. and i think there is a heritage in it since (armored) genändewaen are not a rare thing in state use. both with army and politics.
I don't think hitler rode in anything but his armor vehicle after the first attempt on his life. I had a friend who saw him in his vehicles throughout the war. Apparently many of the more loyal HJ were kept where they could lay down their lives for Uncle Adolf as they were taught to call him.
The Jeep has barely seating for 2 including the driver and some uncomfortable room in the back for 2 or 3 more. If you value your back you choose the Mercedes.
Captain Klink was played by a Jew who escaped Nazi Germany, and only played Nazis when he could make fun of them. Sergeant Schulz may have been the same, but I read this a long time ago.
Credit where it's due, the car sure isn't as memorable as the Kubelwagen and Kettenkrad when it comes to visualizing a Nazi vehicle. Even if a good neighbor drove one of these, I would not have started batting an eye. Think the Volkswagen Beetle, which is rarely associated with those inhumans.
