It was a disservice to Grindelwald not to show his eventual redemption, his bravery and how very different he was from Voldemort. Liam don't let other people's opinions on the second movie interfere in your experience. The second movie is very controversial because it is a very sense narrative with a lot of set for the final 3 movies and the story heads to a rather dark and epic direction. The ending of the second movie has a very shocking revelation, that might sees out of nowhere at first glance, but that has deep roots in the canon and some amazing theories have come out since the movie's release that got me really excited for the third movie. Make sure to keep an open mind while watching FB2, and I would also suggest watching it a couple more times again after your first watch, because as I said, it is a complex story and it hard to understand everything from a first watch!
There was way too much packed in that movie in my opinion, it wasn’t necessarily that it was bad, it was just so jumbled and some decisions were rushed and didn’t make a ton of sense.
The difference between Harry and Credence is that Harry didn't know what to suppress and he didn't really suppressed his magic.. (e.g the snake incident in the first movie..) Harry's uncle and aunt pretended magic did not exist... Credence knew it existed and knowingly suppressed it.
Little shout out to that movie in this one. The floating lollipop. Harry stole Nevels in Azkaban, and the critter that can disappear stole from a random child. Cool little moment.

Since the Wizarding World is very popular now, the pacing of Fantastic Beasts movies are actually pretty quick. I really hope you read the books (if you haven't already!). Love them. I didn't like the HP movies too much, I prefer my own 'vision' of things from the books but I really enjoyed this movie. Newt is a sweetheart.
Honestly my biggest issue with The Fantastic Beasts is that the quality of sorry telling took a nose dive. With HP, JK Rowling took her time to write a manuscript for a book, then went through the process of having her editor and publisher tweak it until it was perfect enough to publish it, and from there it got adapted for a the movie making process. Publishing companies simply have a higher standard of excellence than a Hollywood, so skipping that step leaves polishing the work in the hands of the studios who'd clearly be too afraid to tell her no .
Basically, the Fantastic Beast is the prequel to Harry Potter. We get to learn about Dumbledore past, his relationship with Grindelwald, etc. Before Voldemort, the greatest dark wizard was Grindelwald until his fall against Dumbledore. This franchise will be about that.....Grindelwald rise to power and fall.

Hey Liam new subscriber but I really appreciated your discussion at the end of this commentary and how you delved into the time period this all took place in and in comparison to our real world scenarios, especially the ones that have come more into like during this year. I pretty much binged your whole Harry Potter series and was very happy that you started this one even though it has it's discrepancies. I still think it's a fun and like you said light hearted adventure we can go on for those 2 plus hours!
Of course it's not on prisoner of Azkaban's level but It's just such a wholesome movie💛 if they had done a prequel on any of the common characters that we knew from Harry Potter I don't think I would have enjoyed it us much. 29:59 Of course you were sarcastic about NY being close to Arizona, but just so you know, the distance from New York City to Phoenix is over 3400 km, which can get you from London to the western part of Kazakhstan. The US is big.
There will always be half-bloods. Because magical people can and are born from non-magical people. Like Hermione. Ron, a pure-blood, married muggle-born witch, Hermione, making their children half-bloods. The "pure-blood" only exists after three generations of magical births.
Also it would be super cool if you could react to Merlin. It's kinda old but practically everyone is watching/reacting to it in 2020 for some random reason and even I myself discovered the show earlier this year and im almost finished with it actually. It's an awesome show but just a suggestion on what you could react to next :)
there are a ton of theories from this movie & the next that aren't confirmed yet one of which is Queenie might be snape's grandma but IDK everyone seems to love her & her no-mag love interest i mean he's so funny and she's just the sweetest and so good at reading minds this is supposed to be a 5 part series & when it ends i hope the do a sequel series to HP next focusing on Harry's children maybe even a series between THIS & harry based on his parents time give it the star wars treatment
I may be a Slytherin, but if I had to pick a house for a new main character to belong to I'd pick Hufflepuff. They really don't get much spotlight and I never liked their reputation for being useless, boring or being the left-over students couldn't cut it in other houses. I was hoping that Hufflepuffs would finally have another big lead character that they could point to and say look, we're more than that. I suppose it may because Slytherin gets the same treatment where we're pigeon-holes as the shifty, untrustworthy, evil house when we're better than that as well. I love Harry Potter but I think the writing for the houses suffer from not-being-Gryffindor. Newt is such a wonderful character. He's so smart, compassionate, gentle and caring. He's also such a good example of what the Sorting Hat means when they say Hufflepuffs are good finders. Newt has some detective-like skills when it comes to piecing together clues and tracking down his creatures and figuring things out. Newt is also a great representation of a very different kind of masculinity than what we usually see in male leads for the mainstream. He's so sweet and shy and I wouldn't be surprised if he were on the spectrum too. The movie also doesn't treat these gentler qualities as something he needs to "man up" and get over or like some detriment but as his gift. It's refreshing.
no prequel ALWAYS means its in the past sequel is the future dictionary definition like the mauraders area is past for harry & his kids would be future THIS is more like his grandparents time this was around the time voldemort was born (the same year, he was born on new years eve)
On the one hand I would love to see you react to Fantastic Beasts 3 but on the other hand I suggest you to watch a Harry Potter (franchise) film in cinema. Seeing the Harry Potter series on the big screen will always remain my favorite cinema experience of all time
I actually think I like this movie MORE than the Harry Potter movies. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Harry Potter movies, but I think Fantastic Beasts have the advantage of not being based on books, so I never have those annoying "why didn't you explain THIS important thing from the books?!", "why did you add THAT pointless thing instead of deleting LESS of the things from the books?!" and "why did you make a character I LOVE so different?!" moments. As such I think I am able to just enjoy the story more because there is no previous knowledge of the source material to color my experience.
@@sayantaroy9640 I know....? What does that have to do with anything though? The Harry Potter movies were based on books, the Fantastic Beasts movies were not, and I explained in my comment why I think that might make me better able to enjoy the Fantastic Beasts movies without having any source material it can fall short of when I compare the two. I don't see how the same author being behind both makes a difference when it comes to that.

I know its probably unlikely to happen but eddie redmaynes performance in this movie just makes me think he would make an amazing doctor
29:59 Of course you were sarcastic about NY being close to Arizona, but just so you know, the distance from New York City to Phoenix is over 3400 km, which can get you from London to the western part of Kazakhstan. The US is big.
wah omg yay! i love your reactions!!
There will always be half-bloods. Because magical people can and are born from non-magical people. Like Hermione. Ron, a pure-blood, married muggle-born witch, Hermione, making their children half-bloods. The "pure-blood" only exists after three generations of magical births.
Love this movie and the reaction!
Matt smith was one of the candidates for Newt’s role
New York and Arizona are only about 2,350-ish miles apart. So yeah, super close! 💀💀
Newt Scamender is a Hufflepuff
Tina was a very skilled auror.
i want Eddie Redmayne as the 14th Doctor
I love this movie so much, Newt is amazing! Are you planning on watching the second one?
at the beginning he said he will watch it, but we have to wait until next month for his reaction
Tessa G Ah okay, thanks! ^w^
@@NonbinaryRatt happy to help :D
NY to AZ is over 2000 miles but a bird like that size shouldn't take long to get there XD
Hufflepuff is actually the most popular house of all the four. It's the Ravenclaws who need the spotlight.
I was so disappointed that you didnt follow "it's a.. platypus" with "PERRY the platypus???" 😂😂😂
no prequel ALWAYS means its in the past sequel is the future dictionary definition like the mauraders area is past for harry & his kids would be future THIS is more like his grandparents time this was around the time voldemort was born (the same year, he was born on new years eve)
That evil mother played Alpha on the walking dead
Liam, now we gotta know what your house is in Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! I'm a Thunderbird! Ravenclaw in Hogwarts.
How do you get sorted in ilvermorny?
@@nasrinsultana8885 pottermore has a quiz for that too
On the one hand I would love to see you react to Fantastic Beasts 3 but on the other hand I suggest you to watch a Harry Potter (franchise) film in cinema. Seeing the Harry Potter series on the big screen will always remain my favorite cinema experience of all time
Newt is my favorite character in the Wizarding world
“New York and Arizona is kind of close” no, they really aren’t. It’s about a 35 hour drive
yes! finally! i've been waiting......
12 years?
I Love credence and feel sorry for him 🥺
I actually think I like this movie MORE than the Harry Potter movies.
The fantastic beast is also written by j.k rowling
@@sayantaroy9640 I know....? What does that have to do with anything though? The Harry Potter movies were based on books, the Fantastic Beasts movies were not, and I explained in my comment why I think that might make me better able to enjoy the Fantastic Beasts movies without having any source material it can fall short of when I compare the two. I don't see how the same author being behind both makes a difference when it comes to that.
Great reaction, as per normal. I think I need to rewatch this movie as I always thought it was a bit boring but from this it's more exciting than I remember. I always enjoyed the 2nd one a lot more so I look forward to that reaction in a month or so.
Each movie is suppose to be in a different country, this one was on USA, not gonna say spoilers about the second one, and the third we know its gonna be in Brazil!!!!!
You might know this already but Newt is a Hufflepuff
I’m surprised
Okay, but honestly, if I had the choice between dying with my worst memories shown to me due to Dementors or happy memories before death, I'd rather take bliss.
