Beyonce should have kept the line "And now i'm fading into black, why won't you over react" we all want that someone who meant so much to us to react when we're not as present as we used to be in their lives
the “fading to black” is a reference to Jay-Z who wrote the black album as a retirement piece and did a small documentary called “fade to black” Absolutely genius lyricism. Kevin is incredible.
@@taijohnson9139 Had you taken the time to do your research before opening your mouth, you'd know that anyone working with her has been preaching about how involved she is in the creative process, it's not like other artists who receive a song and sing it as it is.
I remember being mesmerized when I first heard Beyonce sing this and the exact same thing is currently happening now knowing Kevin wrote this and singing so beautifully. SHOOK
I was at this show. For context, Kevin was sick with the flu. Poor guy had to blow his nose between songs, but still killed it. Such a professional! 🙌🏽🤍
He reminds me of that awkward white boy at school that's socially awkward but he has such a soulful voice and it's crazy lol. This was beautiful though.
I'VE NEVER LOVE SOMEOE SO MUCH FOR 4 MINUTES AND 8 SECOND! PLEASE UPLOAD THIS SOMEWHERE FOR DOWNLOAD BECAUSE I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE !!!!! I'VE ALWAYS LOVE KEVIN BUT THIS WAS JUST THIS ICING ON THE CAKE!
i'll never forget when i first heard his ep in 2015, he was still such a baby artist, i loved coloring, pushing away, and come up short. holy crap, i had no idea he wrote my fav beyonce song, i knew it had something of his in the song (around the part, "even thats a test, constantly aware of it all", and "it don't hit me quite the same") but i thought i was tripping till i heard him right now and i can hear his voice in the beyonce track. wow. kevin garrett, you are amazing. thank you for sharing your talent.
Wow, I love this song! It's crazy how different a song sounds so when it comes from someone else. He made me forget who I originally heard sing this. He made It his. Kevin is an awesome artist.
You can taste the dishonesty It's all over your breath As you pass it off so cavalier But even that's a test Constantly aware of it all My lonely ear Pressed against the walls of your world Prayin' to catch you whispering I'm prayin' you catch me listening I'm prayin' to catch you whispering I'm prayin' you catch me I'm prayin' to catch you whispering I'm prayin' you catch me listening I'm prayin' you catch me Nothing else ever seems to hurt Like the smile on your face When it's only in my memory It don't hit me quite the same Maybe it's a cause for concern But I'm not at ease Keeping my head to the curb Prayin' to catch you whispering I'm prayin' you catch me listening I'm prayin' to catch you whispering I'm prayin' you catch me I'm prayin' you catch me I'm prayin' you catch me (prayin') I'm prayin' you catch me
i have never in my life experienced musical frisson as intensely as i just did. my entire body feels electric, that was so beautiful i had to catch my breath
Wow. srsly. I'm in awe . I'm struck. Pure talent just oozing from this guy soo glad I acciendtly found this. He deserves alot more regonition than trash like Alex Aiono and Gnash...
I think this is one of the best songs I've ever heard (and my list of great songs is not small and it doesn't change that often, still this one is now at the top). It reminds me of Burial's Untrue, and it sounds a lot like James Vincent McMorrow's Cavalier..
At first I didn't here the speech he made in the beginning and I was like woah this dude is soulful and singing Beyoncé oh my God ! Then I listen to the first part and he fucking wrote this song.... I'm SHOOK as hell 😱 I cried when I heard this song on her album ❤️well done sir
I’m going thru life’s bumps...this is a love song, but when I listen 👂🏾 and sing it....it just touches a part of me that I need soothed. Beautiful song 💯
Beautiful song with the original songwriter, I loved this track and the emotion in it, its really nice hearing Beyonce in her lower register on Lemonade too. I actually thought it was written by James Blake!
The Infinity Light james blake added some production and got 10% songwriter credit.(it's common for peoole to get songwrtier credit for production side now)
He literally wrote one of the most lyrically creative songs on the album😭❤️ One of the best, to me!
Mayah Harrison Hey Guys, check out my new song!! xo th-cam.com/video/BkV2IBaDbYc/w-d-xo.html
Periodddd
‘You can taste the dishonesty, it’s all over your breath as you pass it off so cavalier’ one of the best opening lines on any album ever 💕
Yessssss!!!!
Totally agree he is magic
Beyonce should have kept the line "And now i'm fading into black, why won't you over react" we all want that someone who meant so much to us to react when we're not as present as we used to be in their lives
It wouldn't really have gone with the Theme, though. Or the Sequence. Good line though, for the original artist. :)
Hmm.. 💭
She had to change that line to slap her name on the song as a writer

He reminds me of that awkward white boy at school that's socially awkward but he has such a soulful voice and it's crazy lol. This was beautiful though.

I love recordings which remind me I have a soul - just like this one.
Damian Rybicki isn't that just the best comment? Just took words out of my mouth, even more, of my soul. Thanx

I prayed that he sung this and I'm so happy he did. I love when writers sing what they wrote for other artists.
Wow, I love this song! It's crazy how different a song sounds so when it comes from someone else. He made me forget who I originally heard sing this. He made It his. Kevin is an awesome artist.
Because it is his,he wrote it.
3:16 - 3:26 hit different !
Ummmm 2:05 that riff why do I keep rewinding. He did a stellar job on this song. Thank you Kevin
I literally got shivers on his first word singing wtf this is amazing
You can taste the dishonesty
It's all over your breath
As you pass it off so cavalier
But even that's a test
Constantly aware of it all
My lonely ear
Pressed against the walls of your world
Prayin' to catch you whispering
I'm prayin' you catch me listening
I'm prayin' to catch you whispering
I'm prayin' you catch me
I'm prayin' to catch you whispering
I'm prayin' you catch me listening
I'm prayin' you catch me
Nothing else ever seems to hurt
Like the smile on your face
When it's only in my memory
It don't hit me quite the same
Maybe it's a cause for concern
But I'm not at ease
Keeping my head to the curb
Prayin' to catch you whispering
I'm prayin' you catch me listening
I'm prayin' to catch you whispering
I'm prayin' you catch me
I'm prayin' you catch me
I'm prayin' you catch me (prayin')
I'm prayin' you catch me
Woah this is the first time in seeing this man and he has a lovely voice
Totally different vibe when told from the POV of a man. Love it more!
Sing boy.
i can't tell if this moves me more than Queen Bey's version, but i'm loving it.
I have this on repeat 25/8
Lol the beyhive has your back bro! No worries!
Keep coming back to this, thought I loved Beyonce's version, but I love this even more :D
I need a duet remix with Beyonce lead and Kevin on backgrounds and chorus.

Rikki Alex Aiono is not trash. 😊😊😊😒
Damn. I wasnt expecting this. His voice for this song is just amazing.
Omg, it's get more feeling than queen B itself. I'm amazed.
This is so much more powerful hearing the writer perform. Stunning I have a whole new appreciation for this song!! ❤️❤️
I think this is one of the best songs I've ever heard (and my list of great songs is not small and it doesn't change that often, still this one is now at the top). It reminds me of Burial's Untrue, and it sounds a lot like James Vincent McMorrow's Cavalier..
Romulo Ferreira couldn’t agree more! and it really is quite similar to Cavalier wow
don't sleep on James Blake -- the other co-writer of this song & co-writer/vocalist on "Forward", also from Lemonade.
Ikr, anyone familiar with his work can sense his style of writing in the song
Yeah him and B tweaked this song into the masterpiece it was on ‘Lemonade’
My heart... he is phenomenal 💟✨ this is why I love listening to songwriters to sing what they’ve written for others. The emotion behind it, wow 🧡
Yes! Well said. Such a perfect opener for Lemonade but you can certainly feel his emotion. So raw and real.
At first I didn't here the speech he made in the beginning and I was like woah this dude is soulful and singing Beyoncé oh my God ! Then I listen to the first part and he fucking wrote this song.... I'm SHOOK as hell 😱
I cried when I heard this song on her album ❤️well done sir
I’m going thru life’s bumps...this is a love song, but when I listen 👂🏾 and sing it....it just touches a part of me that I need soothed. Beautiful song 💯
Oh man 🙌🏼 my heart is broken and full at the same

This is my favorite song and to find out you wrote this is amazing because I love your songs and covers !!

Beautiful song with the original songwriter, I loved this track and the emotion in it, its really nice hearing Beyonce in her lower register on Lemonade too. I actually thought it was written by James Blake!
