    Peter, a great review of this NiSi product, I love the amount of work you put into these videos, “Leather face” notwithstanding 😂. I think the manufacturer should be happy with the review. You should have way more subscribers to be honest. Keep up the good work👍🇦🇺👏📷📸📷

    Amazing Peter. Some beautiful photos.
    And a great honest review.
    Looks and sounds a very good lens 👍
    Apart from the adaptor
    It’s amazing to watch you in Australia with a jacket on. We’re sticking with a drought and heatwave over here.
    Looking forward to putting a jacket on 😃😃

    Fabulous video, Pete. As always, your images are sooo good. I love so many of them, but that leaf shot would look awesome printed huge and placed on a wall. BTW, your camera looks like a nun with all those macro attachments! 😄

    Very interesting Peter, I have a 20 year old set of 67mm Hoya’s I feel inspired to dig out of the cupboard and try out on the 100mm 2.8 macro, undoubtedly rather lower quality I’m thinking 😀

    Hello, Peter! I've been filming Whitcombe's biting midges, Forcipomyia whitcombei. They are 1-3mm in size so they're pretty hard to film with Laowa 5x. Also not so happy with diffraction at f/11 and 5x, so might dial it down to f/8 and probably 4.5x and use 28mm extender tube and see how it looks! Filming in 4K@120fps, 1/250s, and ISO had to jump to 6400 despite using 3 small lights yet powerful right above it! Now I'm gonna bring a bazooka to a knife fight and just order Amaran COB 60x and mount it on the camera and use a cloth diffuser over the hyper reflector. I think I might be able to push it down to 100 ISO!

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. Sounds like fun. I know that recording with the Laowa can be difficult, especially at that magnification. I’ve been using it at f/11 up to around 3-3.5x, but recently used it at 5x to record some tardigrades, was very challenging but a lot of fun! I’ve got heaps of stuff coming.👍

    • @Bo_Hazem
      @Bo_Hazem 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peterviragphoto Can't wait! Learnt a lot from you. Last time I used f/11 it seemed like too much diffraction? Not sure, gonna try out different times and see how the results are. The trick with video is to shoot high frames then slow them down, like 120fps then slowed down to 24fps with 1/250s shutter.

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Bo_Hazem you can also just keep the shutter-speed lower and not worry about the 180 degree shutter rule. I know in an ideal scenario it’s gonna yield better results in most scenarios but sometimes need to compromise:p

    • @Bo_Hazem
      @Bo_Hazem 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@peterviragphoto You gonna laugh, mate. I just ordered Amaran COB 60x and gonna mount it on camera with hyper reflector and melt the poor insect with that beam, lol. I'll cover the reflector with a cloth diffuser but it's gonna be crazy strong, I guess. Either way even at 12,800 ISO the image still looks good with Sony a7S III.

    If choose AF mode, will it damage the focus motor in the long run time ? Thank you !

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there. I don’t think the USM motor would be affected at all, especially when the focus limiter is enabled. Cheers

    hi, what will be the magnification of my Voigtlander 65/2 1:2 after adding NiSi 58mm close up? will it be full 1:1? Regards

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. It should be up to 1:1 yes. With the new 9+ diopter NiSi 49mm you could further increase that: nisifilters.com.au/product/nisi-close-up-lens-kit-nc-49mm-with-62-and-67mm-adaptors/ref/peterviragphoto/

    I'm a bit confused. How can i put it on the canon 100mm macro if the nisi 58mm comes with smaller adapters than the lens, which is 67mm? I need to buy a separate adapter for the 67mm thread?

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Zoltan. Yes, you do. I recommend a cheap 3rd party adapter ring from e.g. Neewer. Got mine from Amazon ( 8 cost less than $20 ).
