Thanks Gary… very nice presentation. The M&P plugs are excellent engineering they are like jewellery, I’m really impressed with them, yes expensive and although the old ones will do the job, these look so well made. The 5mm are rather fiddly though and frustrating to fit. 💙
I'm told they are still available, we stock the evos as 99% of folks wanted the new ones.. I will check with M&P for you.. drop me an email support@hamradio.co.uk
that depends on the brand specs, when you do a cable end you have be mindful of the dielectric not melting.. typical temps I would say 220-300deg c but the most important thing (along with temps) is flux, use a good flux or fluxed solder.. Gaz

Great video.
Great video Gary, I know the newer plugs are technically better but I found the older M&P plugs easier to terminate.

What is that tool called that helps you mark the coax?? You said it can cut coax but takes to long so you used a Swiss army knife??
Is this what you meant ? www.hamradio.co.uk/messi-paoloni-coax-scissors-ultraflex-pd-6256
Is that leaflet with info ( at 0:33) on plugs connection available to download?

I was looking at Amphenol right angle PL 259 adapters this week. £40 each. Good connectors cost a lot of money unfortunately.
👍
