    Hey Gary and Brooke,
    I can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos and I’m gonna have to admit I went back to your very first videos when you obtain your boat and everything and I kind of binge watch not all but most of them I really enjoy you guys you guys guys are a lot of fun and entertaining You offer great descriptions everywhere you go and you just seem like all-around really good people. I’d love to have a beer or two with you guys sometime but I really wanted to tell you congratulations a huge congratulations on finishing all the work in Puerto Penasco, I know the area down there quite well as I lived in Phoenix for about 25 years and over that time we used to go camping on the beach over at the reef at least 20 times a year it’s so much fun down there. The food is awesome. The people are awesome but to see all the hard work that you guys did. Congratulations I’m really proud of you. You guys busted your butts and made it happen took longer than you expected, but hey, it is what it is. Looking forward to your new And upcoming videos in the future and who knows maybe someday our paths will cross again I’d love to have a couple beers with you guys and share some laughs and certainly some war stories, but I truly wish you all the best Fairwinds, and following seas in the future again, congratulations on all the hard work

      Hi Steven! Wow, thank you so much! We really appreciate your kind words and support. It's a pretty cool thing to look back and see how far we've come as individuals, as a couple, as sailors and boat project DIYers. Thanks for coming along as we figure it all out! Hopefully one day our paths will cross and we can enjoy a sundowner and a couple stories together. We are really looking forward to sharing this next chapter with everyone. Cheers!

    So many Mexi hot dog carts here in Los Angeles but they offer all the same version which is bacon wrapped, grilled onions, and grilled bell peppers. If you ever make it back here we’ll enjoy one together, or take you to Pinks Hot Dogs instead…or both! No mas “No Mas Clavos”!!! Cheers and hugs, 🍻🤗🍻🤗🍻🤗

    It's so weird being out of sync with real time... I'm feeling super excited for you both, but I know you've already made the passage, no worries though, I'll just use that excitement knowing we're all going to get to see you in the water and crossing the Pacific VERY soon... I imagine you've bumped into Parlay since the crossing, I was really impressed by their new inflatable bumpers, deflated they all fit in one bag for storage, a huge space saver, although you've already made the passage, so space probably isn't as crucial as it was for the passage, but who owns a boat and doesn't always need more space... I'm thinking it would be a game changer for Bill & Grace before they cross next season... The Parlay crew was using a hand pump and filling them with air just as fast or faster than their compressor...

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bruce! Yeah it's tough for us to film, edit, do boat work, sail etc. and stay up to date with real time! We appreciate your patience and we are super excited to share our upcoming videos with you! Parlay is ahead of us (they are much faster!) but we hope to catch up and have some fun with them in Tahiti!

    Try add a chunk of hose over the dead stop on the quadrant. A little shock absorber when you hit the hard over. Lessens the impact shock if you have swung it hard. And easy to replace. Great job you are doing loving an old boat. Soon you will have touched every square inch, inside and out. Lotta love.

    Fire would be a secondary issue. Carbon monoxide will get you and you wont even realize it. Thanks for the tip on Vetus hoses. I'll get some for my next project.

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, especially with the exhaust hoses running underneath our bunk. We do have a CO monitor inside the boat and check it regularly. The Vetus hose is excellent, although not cheap by any means. I think the 3" hose was around $25/ft.

    Spare PIN for the Tiller ? Looks like something that could wear quickly ? Wow, that music at 29:06 Was great party MUSIC and you deserved a great burger with friends ! God, I love that boat yard. I'd love to find a boat there that needs work and would be mine. 36 footer I think. Crazy thing is I"ve SEEN MANY WORST ROUGHER REFITS. This one was easy with a few surprises. That said, if your new autopilot works the first time that will be a new one ! Bon Voyage Guys ! Great to watch this, thankyou.

      Cabrales Boatyard is one of the best! The community there is top notch and management knows what sailors need. Great for DIY but not great for hiring jobs out. There are actually a few boats for sale in the yard there. If your interested send us an email (sailingonelife@gmail.com) and we can provide you with contact info. Cheers~

    Two smaller boats which were both either in Fiji and ready to go to New Zealand, (one might have had this happen on the way, one definitely had it happen before she left ) ended up with damaged engines because of salt damage from salt water and the exhaust pipe problems. One , the gal, lost her engine completely and had to replace it. Its a real problem area and if your engine can't be run because of that loss of the exhaust it can be really hard to keep the salt water out of the engine. So, replacing it BEFORE it craps out is a TERRIFIC idea ! WOW, that rudder job really LOOKED good, I'm really surprised it is fighting you.

    Excellent job routing that exhaust hose! As an engineer, I commend the added chafe protection and supports. Wire harnesses will benefit from similar added supports rather just letting them lay on floors or flop in cabinets. One suggestion is replacing the low-cost cable ties used with higher quality parts made for higher temperature. The chemicals used in formulating those cheap ties turns brittle quickly especially at elevated temperatures or when exposed to UV. Besides, why ruin such good work with junk? There’s no rush. These parts should be readily available in Australia or New Zealand when you reach those destinations

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I was pretty proud of that installation. As far as the low-cost cable ties, I've had good luck with them installed inside the boat and away from UV. The ones outside securing solar or Starlink wires sure do degrade and break in about 12 months. Either way, I stay away from the ones with little metal tabs for engaging the ribs as they rust and fail quickly. I find that I end up cutting cable ties to add a wire or replace a connector so frequently that I prefer to stock the cheap ones. We'll see how they hold up over the next year and like you said, I can grab the good ones in NZ when we get there! Cheers! 👍

    God I just Love Splash Days. My last one had Splash Day disappearing into the future as My Purchased Sailboat after Moving it from the Seller's Home, had to have a full Checkover and Service, the Pettit Trinidad Pro Hard Antifouling applied, plus New Anchor changed last minute as the Delivery time exceeded the remaining time on my Visitor to USA Visa that was left and Peter the Triad Boatworks Owner Came to the Recue again and said I can have a New Genuine Lewmar Delta Anchor Delivered Tomorrow to put on the end of the Genuine USA Steel triple Galvanised Chain I had Ready and Waiting. Never had a problem with the Delta Peter Said, and he was right, as it is really just a Rocna without the Hoop. then there was the Start of Season Problem, and All the Slots for Splashing Boats were full and Visa Days were ticking down Fast, so as .Peter said he'd fit me in with enough time to leave USA Territorial Waters, I filled my time with feeding all of the on Deck Teak with Teak Oil, and that's the Last Sailboat I will ever have any wood on deck or in the Cockpit, Non Slip Only from now on and brilliant white to reflect the Sunshine. The Noat got splashed on Day 86, and I was in the Gulf Stream Outside of USA Waters on the night of Day 89, and Visa Days thankfully were Reset on Day 90, as over the VHF came a Tornado Warning for the Area, and there was no way I could clear the other side in time, as the Waves were Huge, rough Round topped and not Breaking, but damn progress was Slow, so where to Run and hide ? The Harbour of Refuge in Rhode Island with some options like Block Island along the way, but with a clean Hull, man that boat was flying, and we made it to that Harbour of Refuge well in time to get set up Ready. Long Story Short, that Lewmar Delta Anchor Really proved its Worth and Confirmed Everything Peter had said and then some as we got through getting hit by one really vicious Tornado, and getting hit by a number of others that weren't as bad. Next Boat's Main Anchor? another Oversized Genuine Lewmar Delta, which I had no trouble setting. I'll probably Buy it Off Peter, to make sure it isn't one of the Awful Substandard Chinese Counterfeits tbh. Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob in Wales still Boatless. 👍⛵️✨️✨️✨️
