I have sad news, Nintendo customer support literally told me that they use Hall Joysticks and they have also tried various other replacement parts and repaired joycons for free to determine which joysticks would cause drift, right-joystick-stick, and right joystick autotrigger. Nintendo has used them in USA and most of Canada since the OLED model was released. And since those are indeed, OLED joycons, I find this, laughable. Nintendo doesn't even manufacture their own parts anymore. Once Iwata passed, and the Wii U died along with him, Nintendo started buying all their parts and stopped designing each individual component in general, which explains the XAW plastic shell flaw where the overheating was said to be the cause of the battery, but in general Nintendo ordered the wrong sized parts for their first Nintendo Switch model which was revised with only a few major changes: longer battery life, less overheating, and added stability to hardware components. If Nintendo receives a launch day OG model Switch they are ordered to replace your console with a newer model and scrap the old Switch for parts. I'm gonna be honest, I'm fairly certain that drift was an oversight, not planned. They usually make the most reliable products they can, and more recent Joy Con almost never drift.
That's fair bro like I said it's really just my opinion, and I was actually not aware that the newer ones aren't getting drift. Thanks for the info bro.
@@BigShirtGames No problem. My old Switch was on it’s deathbed and I had to replace it, and my new Joy Con haven’t drifted at all. I went to see if a fix had been discovered and I then learned that they made some small changed back in like 2021 or something
I bought my Switch secondhand with heavily drifting joycons and i honestly had a harder time getting the Y-head screwdriver than the replacement joysticks. 😂
When Nintendo were designing the joycons in 2015/2016 they were in one of the worst spots possible as a company. The last thing they would want in 2016 is hardware issues with their new system when the success of that system would make or break the company. Whatever can be explained by stupidity instead of malice normally is. Also joycon thumbsticks are made by the same company that make the Xbox and Playstation joysticks as well. If anyone is to blame for the hardware issue it's Alps. PS4 controllers had a ton of drift issues a decade ago as well thanks to Alps. Nintendo absolutely should have handled the drift situation better and not tried to sweep it under the rug but this is an industry wide problem and saying Nintendo did it on purpose diminishes the extent of the problem by ignoring the company that's actually responsible and also has their hardware in the other major consoles.
I was not aware of this but it absolutely makes sense because I've noticed that everything ever since the PS4 has been getting drift. But then again to be fair how did Nintendo not notice that the PS4 controllers were getting drift and still went through with it. yk?
I tried this but both my joycons had one screw that was just completely stuck. In general, the screws are very easy to strip. I wish they were just a bit more durable. Though I didn't want to change them due to drift but rather that I completely rubbed off the rubber on the sticks. I just ended up putting some caps on the sticks instead.
Tech shit always seems nerdy but ppl don’t understand how fun tech can be. Yo you should see PlayStation controller scheme, saw a video about it and they really be scamming ppl
Ok u talk about it like its a scam when its a known thing, they're not "supposably" its how they're made , they're fundamentally different instead of using 2 conductive surfaces thay rub together allowing more or less current to flow it uses the magnetic current, its not rocket science magnets degrade much slower they do demagnetize but its such a slow process that unless ur unit is defective they will not drift, and not all joysticks are hall i can also sell "hall effect" joysticks nit every brans offers them , the only reliable and tested ones are from Gulikit
@@BigShirtGames because of a lawsuit they have to fix them they obviously dont want to advertise this because they want people to buy new joycons instead of having to fix them
What dock r u using in the video?🧐
I'm using one sent to me by Unitek! Video on it coming soon it's so much better than the stock one.

What a gem of a channel
Just so ya know go into system settings and recalibrate your sticks in system settings for a smoother experience

That sucks to hear. Maybe it was just a mistake from the manufacturer perhaps?
