Thanks both of you for this vedio. Tears automatically come into my eyes by seeing the present dilapidated condition of this bungalow. This bungalow was renamed by Tagore as Hoimanti. He wrote few songs and poetries here.Many dignitaries like Atul Prasad Sen, Rathindranath Tagore, Artist Mukul Dey,C.F.Andrews,Dinendranath Tagore,Protima Devi visited this bunglow and stayed here. It was purchased from an European owner during 1913. I will add the detailed history of the place later on. Thanks Luvji and Pretiji l

Myself Abhishek Ghosh from Kolkata, being a Bengali, never knew Rabindra Nath Tagore had a house in such a hilly area, there is a colony here around 50 Kms from Kolkata called Shantiniketan where an entire colony has been set up in memory of Tagore. Really missing my Kolkata very much........ One more thing, driving in hilly areas is so risky, I never knew, feel I can never drive in such narrow upstream roads. I got so inspired from ur videos, I am planning to buy a small single storey house near ur place. Please convey my regards to Madam, Baigan ka Varta was superbb, wish could taste some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could see some cross marking on the road ' pagdandi'. What could be the material? Stone or precast concrete slabs. Why such important monument not under archeological survey of India and being looked after?. Thank you for bringing it to us. If possible ,do write to government about your personal observations. May be in days to come someone in beurocracy will rise up n preserve it for future generations.

Gurudev Rabindranath Thakur - actually. The British pronounced it as Tagore. Geetanjali consists of & is a compilation of hundreds of poems( 157 nos.) , most of which were made into songs by Tagore himself & is part of a vast creation of songs which we commonly call ''Rabindra sangeet''. One of the most famous poems in Geetanjali is ''where the mind is without fear, where the head is held high......"! Tagore did write a few of his poems ( not all ) for Geetanjali while in Ramgarh villa. His father Maharshi Devendranath Thakur had another mountain villa in the Dalhousie hills, now in Himachal Pradesh ( earlier the Punjab province ) & the name of that villa is ''The snow dawn'', which is currently under the Indian Army. That villa is in immaculate shape & of course - LOVELY !

The British pronounced it as Tagore.
Geetanjali consists of & is a compilation of hundreds of poems( 157 nos.) ,
most of which were made into songs by Tagore himself & is part of a vast creation
of songs which we commonly call ''Rabindra sangeet''.
One of the most famous poems in Geetanjali is ''where the mind is without fear,
where the head is held high......"!
Tagore did write a few of his poems ( not all ) for Geetanjali while in Ramgarh villa.
His father Maharshi Devendranath Thakur had another mountain villa in the Dalhousie hills,
now in Himachal Pradesh ( earlier the Punjab province )
& the name of that villa is ''The snow dawn'', which is currently under the Indian Army.
That villa is in immaculate shape & of course - LOVELY !
